We had high hopes for our stay at this parador - it was our first stay in Granada and we were excited to stay next to Alhambra. First, the positives - the location is excellent and the grounds are beautiful. You are basically staying on the grounds of Alhambra and that part is magical. But, the service and rooms were not what I’d expect for the price tag. The staff at times seemed aloof and not too helpful - this occurred when we tried to get service at the cafe and when asking questions at the front desk. Next, the rooms. Our room was fine overall - and the view was great. However, there seemed to be repairs going on in the room next to us and there were loud power tool noises and banging in the morning while we were planning to sleep in. Not ideal. Overall, I’m glad we stayed here for the history of the building and the location - just don’t expect folks to wait on you hand and foot or for the rooms to be amazing.

Loved staying in this comfortable hotel that is steeped in history. Perfect for making a visit to the Alhambra very manageable. Views of the gardens fantastic. Food was delicious. Staff were thoughtful and considerate. Loved it.

Have stayed here twice - the first time before they added the modern wing. That time we had a very small cramped room but we still enjoyed the location and having breakfast while looking out over Generalife. The second time was summer of 2018. We had our children w us and got two rooms in the modern wing. At first I was disappointed but then I realized they were more comfortable and one had a very nice view and a big bathroom. Would not call this a 5 star hotel because service is pretty limited - there is usually one person around to check people in and out but limited help w luggage etc. still worth every penny to be able to drive right into Alhambra and spend the night In one of the most magical places on earth. And don't miss the private gardens just behind the breakfast area.

Wife and I drove from one parador to another for three weeks!! This was by far the most rustic and beautiful of all of the paradors!!! location, food and staff were ideal for our Spanish Holiday!! We are planning on doing another such trip for the souther part of spain, but we will somehow accommodate a stop at this parador again. Gracias!!!

Staying at once of the palaces of the Alhambra sounded too fantastic to miss. We were wrong. For the price, this is an extremely average hotel. I would not stay here again. Visiting the Alhambra was amazing and is an absolute must see. However, there are plenty of other interesting and lovely hotels in Granada that would work at least as well as a home base for your visit to the Alhambra.
The Parador does not have several of the amenities that one expects from a high end hotel (no gym, no bar), and service was lukewarm at best (maybe I needed to spend even more than $400/night to get good service). On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, the bed linens were very nice and husband said breakfast was good. Visit the hotel to look around, but no need to spend the night.

Dear Jennifer,

Thank you for sharing this review and the positive remarks. We regret that your experience with us has not been completely satisfactory. Due to the historical and artistic building it is not possible to install a gym. Let us explain that the Parador has a cafetería and a big terrace bar with amazing views over the Generalife Palace and gardens, medieval walls of Granada, Alabayzin district etc.
Best regards.
