“Charming boutique hotel with outstanding service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2011

Built into a recently renovated 18th-century Granada townhouse, this lovely boutique hotel seamlessly combines old world beauty and 21st-century efficiency with panache and charm. Most of the rooms face on to a beautiful fountain courtyard, which is the central feature of the hotel. Rooms are clean, opulent and well proportioned, if not enormous.

Service is absolutely outstanding: requests for drinks, hairdryers, mains adapters etc were satisfied within minutes and the reception team were very friendly and efficient. There is also a snack bar which is open for a few hours each day at no extra charge, on offer are pastries, juices, nespresso coffee, tea etc. I would also recommend the 11 Euro breakfast: freshly squeezed juices, delicious fruit and pastry buffet, obligatory jamon iberico and manchego, freshly cooked eggs and more: easily the best breakfast during the two weeks I spent in Spain.

Location is also excellent, situated on a quiet pedestrianised back-street, the hotel is ideally placed both for excursions to the Alhambra and for city centre convenience.

I would give this hotel top marks and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

I'm not a kid but I went with my mom and while flipping through the tv stations, and porn came on. The most graphic part of porn and it was uncomfortable. There needs to be a lock on such things! Could hear noises throughout the night. Historic room my asp! Pretty disappointed but that feeling goes for the whole city. The Alhambra was a huge nuisance and wasn't worth it in the end. Go to the alcazar in Sevilla instead. Less tourists cursing you for ruining their 9,000th photo of a tile and more natural beauty. Boo!

Stayed 3 nights here as part of a week long trip around Andulucia. Lovely hotel although vehicles cannot get to the door due to the narrow alleyways so you'll have to walk the last 50m or so! Very central in close proximity to Plaza Nueva, below the Alhambra. A beautifully executed conversion of historic buildings into a quiet oasis. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and professional, they did seem to be genuinely enjoying their work and really wanted to help with any queries. The complimentary late afternoon refreshments in the central courtyard and lounge were very welcome to fill in before dinner. Breakfast was excellent and well worth the additional charge, there are plenty of dining options nearby, particularly amongst the labyrinth streets & squares of the surrounding Albaicin. Granada's modern city centre is attractive too and has plenty of shops / public spaces if you want a charge from the older areas. We arrived into Granada's bus station and left by train so avoided the trials of finding the hotel and parking a hire car. Taxis are plentiful and will get as close to the hotel as they can!

I changed my booking to stay in Hotel Casa 1800 Granada because of fellow travelers' review in tripadvisor. Heard that Room1 is noisy, I rejected the offer of Room 1 upon arrival. But the hotel stay insisted that it's ok.
We shut the windows and opened air-conditioner to avoid the noise at night. However, we felt very hot at night that can't sleep well.
Room 1 is on ground floor- serious problem in shower drainage. We have to stop few times during shower to drain the water, otherwise, it will have flooding in our room. EUR 135 (no breakfast) for one night - stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: DON'T Stay in room on ground floor

The Casa 1800 is a beautiful boutique hotel restored from a mansion located in a tiny back street near the Plaza Nueva, the best tourist spot in Granada. The problem is getting to it. -- you can't get close to by "unauthorised" car, so you must park in an underground parking six blocks away near the Plaza Real. So we then had to take a cab to the Plaza Nueva and trundle our bags about a block up the narrow side streets to the hotel. The hotel is wonderful, but it is not totally accessible for disabled travellers, since the lift (elevator)is up a number of steps. My wife has an artificial knee so all this was a bit of a problem for her. If you can overcome these barriers, you can enjoy the free afternoon tea and pastries and the wonderfully helpful staff.

Casa 1800 is a beautiful hotel. You will need to park your car in a public car park that is recommended by the hotel. From there, we took a taxi to the old town. We found our way to the hotel (dragging our suit cases along the cobble stone foot path). We were upgraded to a suite which is so lovely. From our window, we were able to see the Alhambra fort. AlHambra is within walking distance. There are many restaurants and bars all within distance. There is a complimentary tea in the evening.

When we arrived in Granada we followed the instructions emailed from the hotel to park our car in a certain square and get a taxi to the hotel. The taxi dropped us off in the restricted old town and pointed us up a cobbled lane. We walked about 50 metres in total to the hotel. The atmosphere was terrific. The design is “authentic” 17th century. It was like being allowed to stay in the townhouse of a rich Spanish family. At check in we met Frances and she was the most welcoming of hosts and an expert in all things Granada. After a very straightforward check in she took us to our room going through the courtyard and up stairs. Our room (number 7) window opened up into the courtyard. The tiled roof was visible and some of the other rooms too. The room was a good size and really well appointed. All fitments were good and to a high standard. It felt terrific. We went noseying and found a maid cleaning another room, she waved us in and we enjoyed seeing what they had too. We dropped our gear off and went back to see Frances for some recommendations. She gave us a map and lots of suggestions, we went walkabout, the hotel is ideally placed at the heart of everything. We ended up eating at the Mirador de Morayma – check it out. We went down for the hotel breakfast in the morning; the range and quality was excellent. Fresh trimmed fruit, good coffee and all the usual meats cheeses and two types of scrambled eggs to go along with the rest of your cooked breakfast. The girl in the breakfast area was very attentive and re-charged the display frequently. We were going on the Alhambra tour, Frances explained the pickup point was about 100 yards away and gave my wife her own coat as she didn’t think my wife had enough on considering the rain! Frances also offered a brolly but we had one with us. Checkout was quick and simple. The whole experience was great.
