We recently spent three nights at Casa 1800. On arrival we were upgraded to a junior suite which was a nice surprise. The room was large, comfortable, beautifully furnished and had a great bathroom.
However, the room was very dark with only a single small window at one end of the room. This wouldn’t have been a problem except the hotel has a system where you insert your room card to turn on the lights. When you return to the room – down a poorly lit hallway – you open the door to a very dark room and we had trouble finding the slot to insert the room card to get the lights on. We resorted to using the flashlight app on our smartphones to light the way. This was a major inconvenience and one the hotel should address.
The public spaces of the hotel are beautiful. The large atrium is a great place for breakfast, afternoon tea or just a quiet drink.
The location is good with the hotel just a few hundred feet from Plaza Nueva. Unfortunately, most of those steps are up a safe but less than attractive alley.

The 6 of us found our three rooms to be comfortable although small, and the staff was generally helpful, however, the Hotel does have some issues that are subjective in nature because although they were troublesome to our group, they might not affect you or your use of this hotel.

The good: Very quaint décor, with a beautiful open air terrace in the center. They provide a free afternoon "tea time" of sodas, water, cheeses, etc. The staff was friendly and generally helpful. The rooms were clean and AC comfortable. The hotel is fairly centrally located in the city.

The bad: They charge way too much for breakfast. The small amount of choices and quality offered for breakfast should be free. We ate elsewhere. The beds were hard for me, and the rooms were small for the price. .

The ugly: If you drive to Granada as we did, prepare for a hell-ish journey trying to find their parking garage on the other side of town. They provide notes on how to find it, but the 6 of us could not make much out of them. Once you park, you have to take a taxi ( two for the six of us and luggage) to their hotel. But the fun is not over. Then you get to roll your own luggage a couple of blocks because the taxi cannot reach the hotel as the streets are too small. For all this, you pay 19 euro parking fee plus the taxi.

Room Tip: Get rooms off the road in the back of the hotel in order to sleep in. Cobblestone and suitcase wheel...

It is always anxious-making to book a hotel, sight unseen, for a group of people, and I really wanted to get it right as my son's Japanese in-laws were with us and my brother and his wife and daughter from the US.
We were all so delighted by this hotel. The beautiful, historic Spanish interior with its light-flooding atrium. The comfortable, very clean bedrooms, the complimentary afternoon tea served in the atrium and the delightful staff.
I would go back very happily indeed.

We stayed at Hotel Casa in Granada for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The hotel is a little hard to find, but it is beautiful and in a great location. They have afternoon tea in the afternoon with small sandwiches and fruit, which was great. I am looking forward to going back.

The location, the building and the gracious and friendly staff made this hotel on of our favorites. The building is rich withhold world charm and is nestled right under the Alhambra, you can't get a better setting for exploring Granada. It's one of those places that linger in your mind.

I'll start by saying I would gladly stay at this hotel again - the location is perfect, and the staff are wonderful. That being said, there are a few gripes:

1. Although the rooms are comfy and fairly good sized for this type of property, the bathrooms are pretty cramped; the toilet was wedged in between the shower and the wall in our room, not exactly comfortable. We had stayed in the hotel's sister property in Sevilla, and this suffered in comparison.

2. The breakfast area is a little inadequate - there is not really enough room for the number of guests. Actually, breakfast is probably the biggest opportunity for improvement the hotel has - most days, one worker was trying to keep things restocked by herself, and wasn't quite able to keep up. It also appeared that items were reused on subsequent days - some items were starting to look unfresh, and baked goods could be stale. Once again, doesn't compare well to Sevilla. Same issues at tea-time, as well.

3. Rooms can be noisy, depending on neighbors - particularly upstairs. We had a gal with high heels above us, we always knew when she was around (and when she came in late).

Be aware that areas of the hotel are up or down stairways with no elevators ... front desk will help get your bags to your rooms, but the sight of some of these petite ladies hauling large suitcases was a little disturbing ...

This hotel was in the perfect location and was gorgeous. They upgraded our room which was very nice. The bed was a king - rare for European hotels. The people at the desk were very helpful. They suggested a restaurant for us which was a most memorable night. We did have a noisy person above us, but fortunately she left for the night. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel.
