Thank you Trip Advisor. This hotel in Granada was fantastic. A short walk approx 5 mins up a very old cobbled street to hotel hidden behind large wooden doors, setting is amazing. We had a standard room for 3 nights and then a deluxe for 1 night, fantastic. The standard room was lovely and spotlessly clean with lovely linens on bed and in bathroom. Not huge but full of ambience. The deluxe room was beautiful with views of the Alhambra and our own small balcony. Breakfast was great and only 9 euros. Afternoon tea served everY day free of charge which was great. Also free water and soft drinks on offer. You can walk to most sites from this hotel or the tourist buses leave from Plaza Nueva which is 2 minute walk. If in Granada don't miss this hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrade to deluxe if possible and don't mind carrying your own bags.

We spent two nights here after having spent two nights at the sister hotel in Seville. The Granada hotel is in a beautiful building in a perfect location and the service is very friendly. It's a lovely place to stay, no doubt, but it's not yet fully at the level of the Seville hotel. There were a number of small problems, nothing very important in and of itself, but that started to grate by the end of the second night: We had two bath towels the first night and one the second, the wake-up call came 20 minutes late, the staff couldn't give us a second key for the room, there's no soap dish in the shower, the heat controls in the room were a mystery, the safe in the room was a mystery, the plug in the bathroom sink was another mystery, and we received casually inaccurate information about the drive to Malaga airport.

If you are planning a stay in Granda, stop reading this post, book Casa 1800 now. Actually, splurge a bit and book their grand suite. Now. It's that amazing.

My wife and I were painstaking in our travel details to Madrid, Seville and Granda. We specifically sought historic properties in order to immerse ourselves into the culture.

Casa 1800 jumped out as the star. An historic property located off of Plaza Nueva and next to the Alhambra. You wind through a couple of narrow, cobbled, medieval streets and come across a relatively inconspicuous glass door on a stone facade. You enter into a narrow corridor that explodes into a beautiful courtyard surrounded by wood columns, balconies and stair-rails. Super friendly, helpful, cute staff set you up, and voila, it's time for the room.

I had a hint that our room was magnificent, both from the pictures and from the comments from staff. It was the grand suite, Room 18. You enter off the second level into a nicely appointed sitting area with a couch, nice tables and chairs, espresso maker, and then an interior balcony window for added light.

The double doors into the room were incredible, easily 12 feet tall, heavy antique wood and iron. The bedroom itself is HUGE. Easily 15 foot ceilings, antique wood tray ceiling. Appointed with a king bed, small breakfast table, another sitting area with couch and chairs. The room is about 25x25 feet. What catches your eyes, though, are the huge wood shutter doors - 2 doors about 12 feet high, open them for magnificent views to medieval roof tops and the Alhambra itself! Small balcony that allows you to walk out to capture wonderful views.

Then we walk into the bathroom - as large and modern as you would expect to find in the suites of the most modern hotels. And yet another balcony! Giant, deep two-person hot tub. Shower, Long counter with two sinks. Water closet and bidet. Very large plush towels. Oh, and connected to it as a small changing area with armoire.

A shocker to find a room like this in a historic part of Europe - a rare combination of old and new.

Just perfect.

Parking is inconvenient in this area, so would recommend taxis.

I have never written a review on Trip Advisor, but I feel compelled to say something about my stay last week at the Hotel Casa 1800 in Granada. The hotel is in the beautiful Old Town, within walking distance of the Cathedral, Royal Chapel, and the Albayzin (Moorish Quarter), and at the foot of the very large, steep hill at the top of which is the Alhambra. Though near a bustling plaza, the hotel is at the end of a few short alleys, so it is very quiet (we never heard any street noise)

It appears that the hotel was renovated recently in a modern style - sliding glass doors to the lobby, stylish bathrooms, and so on - but the renovation preserved many of the buildings charming details. We stayed in a Superior room (Room 24) that was roomy (at least by European standards), with a comfortable queen bed, small desk, flat-panel TV, and a large bathroom with tub/shower.

Breakfast and afternoon tea are served in a charming courtyard area - what a treat! Breakfast includes a variety of fruits, hams (Iberian, Serrano, etc.) and cheeses, cereals, yogurt, croissants, buns, etc., as well as hot eggs, sausage, and bacon, and a Nespresso machine providing delicious coffee. They do it again in the afternoon: sandwiches, pastries and many other sweets. Complimentary water (both still and fizzy) and other drinks are available all day.

The staff could not be more charming and attentive. They provided excellent recommendations for tapas places and restaurants, made reservations for dinners and gave us tips about a variety of things. The Hotel Casa 1800 Granada is as close as one can get to a perfect hotel in a city we adored. Bottom line: we can’t wait to go back!

Very beautifully designed hotel, full of old features with a luxurious feel. Location is fantastic, in the heart of Old Town (but beware: it means that you will not get there by taxi, will need to walk ca. 3 mins from the main road), but on the quite road, so no noise. It is one of the most beautiful hotels of this range we have been to. The only reason we don't give it 5 starts but 4, is that our room was off the courtyard on the ground floor (I think there are only 2 like this so we were unlucky in this sense), which meant we could not really open the shutters, otherwise we would have been in the full view of the passing and dining hotel guests! Saying this however, the room itself and the bathroom were beautiful and the bed very large and comfortable.
Definitely recommended.

Although the hotel is beautiful and central, getting there with laggage or a car is impossible.
the rooms are noisy and the food is poor. the stuff are friendly and helpful but it would have been better if we stayed in the new part and not in the old. the centre is easily accessible.

Room Tip: facing the back if possible

We stayed here from Dec 25-27. Location is excellent, within walking distance (15-20 min uphill) to Alhambra, to restaurants in the lower part of El Albayzín (5 min), to the Cathedral and Capilla Real (10 min), so very convenient. Staff is very good, both helpful and friendly. Our room was on the 2nd floor (Room#7), smallest on that floor I believe, with only a window into the interior courtyard. Room was clean but not terribly spacious. Bathroom was clean and new. Cleaning staff did a great job. Bed was very comfortable. Room was overheated despite lowering the temp so we just turned off the heat at night and it was fine. Morning breakfast buffet was very nice. One negative: If you have a room facing into the courtyard, it’s pretty tough to keep your curtains open since you’ll have zero privacy, especially at night. But for us, this wasn’t much of a problem; we drew the curtains. For the price, you get a very nice personalized boutique experience.
