The Casa 1800 is situated in a centuries old building in the Moorish part of Granada. It is very conveniently located near Alhambra, shopping and restaurants. There are of course other attractions in Granada but Alhambra is the truly extraordinary attraction. The building is quite old and has some limitations. The room cooling systems struggle to keep up with demand. Removing the room key card turns the units and lights off when you leave. Very green but defeats the idea of a cool room on a hot day.. However, the charm of the hotel, the rooms and the interior patio make up for this minor discomfort. The staff is small, like the hotel itself. They work long hours, are always helpful and are very professional. So, if you are headed to see one of the great sights in the world, reserve one of the 19 or so rooms at the Casa 1800 and have a great stay in Granada.

Room Tip: The rooms are few, have only queen or king beds. The suites are sizable but the standard rooms are tiny.

We have stayed in Granada twice before in the last few months, and this was by far the best of the three hotels.

Ana and Francisco were absolutely delightful on the front desk, and extremely helpful. We had a room right at the top (there is a lift, but this offered a good walk up several flights of stairs to keep us ready for tapas!) with lovely views over rooftops...and the Alhambra.
The bed was extremely comfortable, and we overlooked the internal courtyard so were not disturbed by the numerous stag parties that seemed to be in town!

There is no restaurant, but the hotel is in the side streets off the Plaza Nueva, so there are bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Breakfast is optional, and afternoon tea is complimentary - very welcome in the cool courtyard after a day of 40 degree heat.

I have no hesitation recommending this hotel, and am looking forward to trying the it's sister in Seville.

Thank you for a fabulous long weekend!

Room Tip: Choose one overlooking the internal courtyard for more peace

Apart from the trek to get to the hotel....car free zone. The rest of the experience was firs class, the reception were very helpful, getting tickets to the alahambra, tapas reccomendations and a flamenco evening. The room was out of this world, and the location perfect.

first of all, im a world traveler from boston. i am used to hotels getting things right or makng them right. hotel casa 1800 did not deliver.

1. front desk personnel were not helpful w reservations or recommendations for dinner.
2 the internet was broken our entire stay and front desk did nothing to help the situation- wifi is counted on and expected with a hotel of this caliber. On checking out they offered nothng in compensation for this problem. they didnt seem to be fazed by the problem despite many unhappy guests.
3. you need to hire a sherpa to get to this hotel. parking garage is 1/2 mile away and that proves difficult w bags on the cobblestone streets.
4. no bellman at hotel to assist w bags once you arrive at hotel. many more steps to climb and haul luggage once arrived to get to elevator.
5. lack of bath towels, no facial tissue, and no extra toilet paper roll.

overall not a great experience considering the prices charged. i would not recommend.

Room Tip: find another hotel in granada

This hotel where we are currently staying was perfect four our needs. Great location just off plaza neuve and close to the Alhambra and winding lanes of the albyzin . Yes it is true that it is tricky to find , but the hotel sends very clear instructions of where to park etc, and if you follow the instructions you can't go wrong. Like all hotels in ancient walled cobble stone cities you do need to walk up and down hill thru narrow lane ways . I love this character filled hotel.if mobility is an issue for you then perhaps this is not the best choice. Friendly staff, friendly guests, fantastic afternoon tea...we can't fault it. We stayed in a standard room, which was beautiful despite being less expensive.

Room Tip: Our room was more than adequate , and just a standard room!
