“Lovely Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2012

Lovely hotel. Great location if you want to explore Granada on foot. Right next to Plaza Nueva, which is one of the main squares. Close to buses and taxi stands. You can walk to Alhambra if you don’t mind walking uphill. Beautiful historic building with inside patio.
My room was pretty small, but I was alone and it was comfortable for me. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is OK, you can find other choices outside. My room was inside and protected from street noise. Wooden room doors are heavy and make a lot of noise when people and housekeeping start moving about in the morning.

If you’re coming from other towns or driving in make sure to check with the hotel about driving into town. The historic center of town is protected and out of town taxis and cars may need authorization to drive in. We took a taxi from another village and the driver had to drop us off by Alhambra. You can take a bus from there or walk. It’s a downhill walk and we had no problem finding our way, even with luggage.

There are signs directing you to the hotel from Plaza Nueva.

Casa del capitel is a charming hotel with a quaint feel. The reception staff were very helpful always with a smile. In August, we (family of four) stayed in an apartment - with a kitchen.
The air-conditioning was not up to the mark and they shifted us into a terrace apartment which was a duplex with a tiny terrace and a view of the Alhambra. Generally the air-conditioning was not good.
The downside of this hotel is that there is no elevator and the staircase is winding & narrow. Carrying luggage up is difficult & strenuous. Not advised for penshioners !!

We stayed in Hotel Casa Capitel Nazarí for a week during July 2012. The atmosphere and location are outstanding. The staff are friendly and they managed our visits to the main touristic attractions of the city.
The hotel itself is a small medieval history museum and our room had wonderful views to the main historical points of the city. We would really recommend it for couples and families.

Every stay since 2007 onwards has been more than great. I've seen it expanding over those 5 years and always improving. It's worth trying! Do go for it. The small museum is also nice and the main patio is just breathtaking given the architecture.

Room Tip: Ask for the apartments in Mariana Pineda building (if free, do not miss them).

For me, the visit in Granada in July 2012 was a memorable one. We were staying in the Hotel Casa Capitel Nazari (an ancient Renaissance palace), in front of the Alhambra and in the city center, close to the cathedral. It was great when we found (with helping of very welcoming and hospitable hosts) as original wooden beams from the XVIth century art has leaned on the Whole. We stayed in a beautiful room, tastefully decorated and elegantly furnished, equipped with all we needed. I recommend with pleasure this location for anyone wishing to have a pleasant and unforgettable holiday.

First off, I must concur with the previous comments about driving. Not recommended in the old part of Granada. Would not recommend driving period in Spain, but that's another story. As for the hotel, the staff was extraordinary, and went out of their way on several occasions to introduce us to Granada, and to accommodate us before we got oriented to the city. The room was interesting and clean, but small, and the courtyards and eating areas were beautiful examples of local architecture. Our favorite staff member showed us the column (in the picture with this review) for which the hotel is named. The capital came from the Allhambra. This hotel is a nice spot in the heart of Granada. It will be worth your while to stay here.

Enjoyed my stay here but was not outstanding. The location is excellent and the hotel is quite pretty.

Our room was very warm and not too easy to cool down. It was also quite loud.

Very pretty hotel though and feels very authentic.
