“Great location for The Alhambra and super friendly staff”
Reviewed 2 August 2011

A short walk from the main town and a short walk from the rear (garden) entrance to The Alhambra makes this small hotel ideal for a one or two night stay to visit the Palace and Granada. Rooms are clean, but small - it's an ancient city for goodness sake !

We booked three rooms - The Alhambra with a great view of the gardens and palace, The Catedral (slightly smaller than the Alhambra but with good views) and The Gomerez (with no real view, and on a small street).

The Continental Breakfast is limited (bad value) and in the windowless basement, which kind of defeats the purpose of why your're visting this world heritage site. Better value and more authentic is to make a right out of the hotel and a less-than-five-minute walk brings you to a wonderful street-side cafe with great coffee, toasts, and yummy tomatoes, eggs and bacon. (Cash only - it's cheap).

Continue uphill and you will arrive at the garden entrance to The Alhambra (Grounds open at 8:30am) - Note, if you are using this entrance, it is VITAL to have PRINTED admission tickets ahead of time - you can buy them at a local bank, or the hotel can arrange.

Options for supper and lunches in town abound (left out of the hotel) - as is public parking - don't think of parking or navigating the streets by the hotel !

One or two nights- with an early start for The Alhambara and then a day in the City exploring gives a great feel - don't miss the Cathedral.

Also, when you're in town and see a grocery store - grab some water, beer, wine as there aren't many options around the hotel for that stuff. Also, ICE is something that is in short supply - plan accordingly.

THIS LOCATION IS OVERALL BETTER VALUE AND BETTER SITUATED THAN THE MORE EXPENSIVE HOTELS WITHIN THE ALHAMBRA GROUNDS.

Room Tip: The Alhambra Room is worth the extra few euros. If booked, go for the Catedral Room

Stayed here for two nights at the end of June. The hotel is located close to the Alhambra which is a must see whilst in Granada! We drove to a nearby carpark and then caught a taxi to the hotel as driving through there can be difficult and there was no carpark on sight. The rooms were of a decent size and were clean. The reception staff were very friendly, and there was free wifi! The rooms rates were also decent.

The staff bent over backwards to make sure we enjoyed our stay in Granada. The hotel itself is not memorable except for the nice outdoor terrace (2nd floor?) where we had breakfast..

We stayed two nights in Granada during a 4-week trip around Spain in the middle of the northern summer and this hotel was without doubt the best place (in terms of both service and value) that we stayed in. Staff were only too happy to assist with requests (such as arranging a taxi to the bus station and collection of tickets for the Alhambra) and the facilities (mini bar, free internet, outdoor patio) exceeded our expections for a 3-star hotel. Plus the all-important air-con worked smoothly without any problems at all!

The location of the hotel is great: perfect for visiting Alhambra, perfect for visiting the rest of the city. Staff, in tourist saturated Spain, was exceptionally helpful and pleasant (perhaps it helps that the staff member we dealt with mostly was Russian and not Spanish), but the room was bland, small, but functional. The Alhambra view room was more of a Cathedral view room but it is still ok - the view of the city overall was great (it is difficult to talk about great view of Alhambra when you are looking from underneath). Although the room was not spectacular, we still found the hotel great, primarily because of location and the great staff.

Traveled with my husband and our 16-year old daughter. Needed a room for the 3 of us. They somehow squeezed 3 small twin beds into a very small room. We barely had room for our luggage. Bathroom was tiny too. HOWEVER, we chuckled a little, but found it to be perfectly fine. The location was awesome; the staff were extremely kind and helpful; and we loved how it was a small hotel with only a few rooms. Walking distance to great places to eat, plus up to visit the Alhambra - staff bought our tickets in advance. Very, very hot in Granada in July, so thankfully the air conditioning worked well.
