Granada is city which is mostly car-free in the centre. That means you have to park your car in a garage on the edge of the city and take a taxi (or walk as we did: 20 mins max) to the hotel. But that is the only minus for this hotel: its location between the alhambra and the city centre/arabic neighbourhood is very nice. You can easily walk everywhere. The reception staff is excellent: warm welcome and lots of good advise. Very helpful indeed: not only waiting to answer questions, but making suggetsions themselves. One of the best we encountered during three weeks in Andalucia.
Rooms are clean, and nice and excellent value-for-money. We didn't try the breakfast, as it is being served in a roomless basement and there are lots of alternatives just around the corner outside. Excellent hotel, recommended!

Room Tip: third or fourth floor for the views of the Alhambra

We only had an overnight stay at the hotel for a visit to the Alhambra. We got a lovely room with views to the Alhambra which is less than10 minutes walk from the hotel . The room was modern, comfortable and very clean.
The hotel offers free coffee and has a lovely roof terrace where you can enjoy your coffee or a drink from the minibar.
There is a breakfast restaurant which is average.
At the reception we were greeted by a very competent receptionist who immediately informed us about everything we needed to know about Granada. - Walks , restaurants and the Alhambra. We had booked tickets for the Alhambra online, but it might have been easier if we had given the order to the hotel, which offers this service.
We parked in a car park, which the hotel has an agreement with and got a good discount.
Before we arrived at the hotel mailed a detailed description of how to find the parking garage . The hotel did note that it was inappropriate to use GPS . A really good service since we had had bad experience with insufficient GPS instruction.
Hotel Puerta De Las Granada is a really nice hotel with a very competent and helpful staff. We can definitely recommend the hotel for both a short or longer stay in Granada.

We were here for 2 nights. We did find the room somewhat small and the beds very hard. But the service was unbelievable. When our train was cancelled due to a strike, the front desk clerk, Ana, who advised us about the strike, booked a plane ticket for us and printed our boarding passes. Don't know what we would have done without her. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly.

Just returned from a 4 day break to Granada. Booked this hotel based on Trip Advisor recommendations. Glad we did. Location is excellent, right in the centre of Granada and in the shadow of the Alhambra. Hotel is small as you would expect from a 19th century building in a historical setting. Set on 4 floors, our room (101) was located to the front of the hotel overlooking the street leading up to the Alhambra. Despite this being a relatively busy street the room was fairly low in noise intrusion. Room facilities included twin beds, a remote control TV, a small en suite with sink, basin and shower. Storage was limited to an Ikea style open
wardrobe with sufficient hangers and storage pockets.

Note unlike earlier reviewers we found room 101 to be quite comfortable. The only minor
niggle is how hard the mattresses were on the beds. Could do with being a bit softer.

Given the price paid and the fact that the room is really only for sleeping in, the size and layout were perfectly fine for us.

Staff were extremely helpful and informative. They booked tickets for us for the Alhambra at a reasonable price, avoiding having to go buy the tickets beforehand.

24 hr coffee availability was very welcome.

One piece of advise. If you are heading up Cuesta de Gomerez to the Alhambra, at the archway take the middle road. It is by far the least steep path up to the Alhambra from the hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights during early October visit to Granada.

The location is excellent base for visit to Alhambra as it is just 10 minute uphill walk away from the Nasrid Palace entry. It's location makes it equally ideal to visit the rest of Granada like the Albayzín area and Cathedral. The hotel is also just a few minutes walk away from the Alhambra shop on Calle Reyes Católicos so you can pick up your tickets there prior to the visit and not have to stress.

Hotel staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The receptionist lady offered lot of helpful tips to make the most of your visit to Alhambra and showed you the best way to see all the main sights. Hotel has nice touches like free tea/coffee in common breakfast area throughout the day.

Room and shower are both good size and very clean.

I was quite disappointed with La Puerta de las Granadas. I anticipated that the room was going to be small, but there was also no character or charm. I understand that old buildings have constraints when remodeling, but these rooms were like being in a camp trailer - cheap, peeling flooring; thin temporary feeling walls; and tiny, funky bathroom fixtures. One room didn't have a window, only a skylight.
There were positives, however. The office staff was friendly and knowledgable, and the location was perfect.
I would not recommend this hotel to a fellow traveler.

Dear Guest:

We feel so sorry that the hotel did not meet your expectations

Regarding the space in our rooms and our bathroom, we would like to inform you that our Hotel is a 19th century building, located in a highly protected area of the city (near the Alhambra). When restoring it, we had to respect the original areas and dimensions and adapt our rooms and facilities to City council regulations.

Likewise, we are also very grateful for your opinion about our Staff. They work everyday for our guests to feel "like home", and the best pleasure we can have is to know that we have managed to be helpful for you.

Your review will help us, for sure, to improve the quality of our services.

We unfortunately only had one night in Granada and due to flight delay into Malagar, arrived hours later than planned. We had prebooked tix to the Alhambra through the hotel and they reassured us that we could still get there in time. A short (but steep) walk up to the ticket office and we had a great visit to the palace and some other areas. Francisco also recommended some nearby restaurants and other areas of the city to visit.
The room, though small, was fine and well positioned overlooking the courtyard out the back. Breakfast was good, including some fresh fruit, and Ana continued to be very helpful with all our queries before we left. I was also impressed at the 'tips' and directions she gave prior to our arrival via email and when I phoned.
If you park in the Triunfo car park, the hotel will give you a discount voucher to save a few euros.
We would definitely stay her again!
