“Fantastic ceiling”
Reviewed 2 July 2012

The best part of this museum is the ceiling in a first floor room known as 'Cuadra Dorada'. This is a very unusual and intricate carving, and well worth seeing. The rest of the museum is less interesting. The building itself is interesting and it's in a great area of Granada called Realejo.

“Beautiful Paintings”
Reviewed 29 February 2012

The Museo Casa de los Tiros is a popular arts museum and a history museum at the same time, located in a historic palace that was built in 1530. There is a staircase that goes to the upper floor and it has many important paintings, including portraits of Queen Isabel and King Ferdinand, their daughter Juana la Loca, and many other royal descendants.

“Great paintings”
Reviewed 23 December 2008

This Museo is inexpensive and a nice visit if you happen to be wandering around Grenada looking for some history.

The entrance fee is waved for European Union citizens, but they did not make us pay (and we're from the U.S.).

The stairway up into the Museo is lined with paintings of Spanish monarchs. Once in the museum there is a mish-mash of photos, etchings, ceramic ware celebrating Grenada, the Sacromonte ("gypsies") and the Alhambra.

Of note is a fantastic painting of a gypsy woman chained to a wall, covered with a cloth with her face and one breast exposed. Dangling in front of her like a taunt are a clutch of jewels on a hook.
It's an absolutely devastating painting, rife with symbolism and cruel judgement.
