“Lovely little boutique hotel!”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

My husband and I have stayed here a couple of times now. It's a fantastic hotel with friendly and helpful staff - a perfect base for exploring Granada. Lovely, rustic, Moorish decor and very clean rooms and en-suite. There's a lot of information on their website about each room including photos, so if you particularly want a room with a street view, for example, do your research first. We'll definitely be back again soon!

We chose this hotel because we wanted something authentic and central but had some budget restraints. We couldn't have chosen a better place. The rooms are authentic old Spanish with dark wood and beams and tastefully furnished. The bed was massive and comfortable. There is also a roof terrace offering amazing views of the Alhambra and surrounding countryside. For such a centrally located property, it offers fantastic value for money.

When we first arrived the hotel we thought the hotel was closed down!! I Doors were locked, there were no lights, no receptionists or staff to be found inside. Turned out one has to get buzzed in for security reasons (Red flag right there!!). The receptionist turned out to be nice and helpful. We were given a code to get in the hotel. The hotel is located on a pedestrian street, cars cannot pull in to the front door so expect to walk a wee bit (it's uncomfortable with luggage and in the scorching heat). The room is super small, though very rustic and cute (wood beams and tiled floors). The decor provides a nice tribute to the Moorish flavor of Granada. The bed was not comfy. There's metal coat rack right beside the bed, so be careful not to bump your head when you get out of bed. The bath tub had no shower curtains so unless you sit in the corner for a shower, you may get the whole bathroom wet, so watch out. Our room door doesn't shut properly. Even when it's fully closed and locked, there's still a huge gap. We had to "conceal" the gap with our clothes and stuff. Oh, free wifi was a one good thing about the hotel.

Now to the BAD part...going back to the red flag, the reason for the security measures is that there must be a local hangout near by, and debauchery continued late into the night and you can hear everything. Earplugs are definitely needed. In the morning, the street outside was left with disgusting garbage and wastes (I'm still hoping stray dogs made those "poo poo") etc. Not the hotel's fault I suppose but I'm sure Granada offers other accommodation options.

This hotel is in a really great location, just a short walk to the cathedral. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area, but the noise doesn't travel - our room looked directly out into the street and there was no problem with noise.

The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was a fantastic size with great facilities. The room was full of character - exposed brick work and wooden shutters - very pretty. Our only complaint would be the size of the bedroom - with two people and two suitcases, it could feel a little bit cramped. But overall for the price, this is a good value hotel. The staff were also really helpful, they arrange trips and book tickets for guests.

Room Tip: Ask for an external room - there are no issues with noise and you get lovely views. Also make the m...

Good location. But expensive for the little that we got. Room was small and dark. The only window opened onto small interior courtyard so there was no natural light. The shower water ran onto the floor no matter what we did to try to stop it. The floors were very dirty.

We stayed for two night at the Casa de Federico in May 2011 and loved it. Our room was beautiful (small, admittedly, but this is a very old building, not a Best Western) with a very nice bathroom and an extremely comfortable bed. The is located in a small sidestreet but very central - there might be some noise in the evening, but this is to be expected from a dense ancient city! The breakfast was among the best we had in Spain and worth the extra charge. The staff was also extremely helpful and made nice dinner reservations when asked. Highly recommended.

We selected this hotel because it had a great review in a Travel Book we trust.

The rooms are ridiculously small especially for the price. We had two rooms, one double and one deluxe, and the Deluxe was even smaller than the double.

There is not even a cabinet, just some hangers in the room. there was just enough space for a bed and once the bag was on the floor there was nomore space to walk to the bathroom !

The breakfast area is in such a depressing and small room with no light that we prefered to go to a coffe shop for breakfast

Moreover, the hotel booked for us Flamenco tickets and gave us a meeting point. The people from Flamenco never showed up and when we said we didn't want to pay, the hotel people said it was our fault because we were not at the meeting point (we were there 15 mn before and waited 40 mn) and harldy ever spoke to us.

The street is extremely noisy and especially at night with groups of people walking and shouting
The announced wifi spot was not working

For the same price in town there were plenty other hotels available and we are really sorry we chose this one. As they have done some decoration in the room they think they are a classy hotel and really it is not the case by very far. Our worst choice by very far in a trip of 5 different towns and hotels.
