A delightful old hotel building (I think it was once the Grand Hotel judging from some old photos in the lobby area) but interiors have clearly recently been refurbished to a high standard by NH Hoteles and it is in a great location right in the Centre of the City on the Puerta Reale, five minutes stroll from the Cathedral and Royal Chapel and the Moroccan quarter. The Alhambra Palace is a 5 euro taxi away, its not that far but its all up a very steep hill! If arriving by car others have said it can be confusing but it is actually reasonably simple - leave the A44 motorway at exit 129km and take the sign for “Centro” and just keep going straight up the hill for a mile or so. After 2 or 3 traffic lights you will be greeted with a large No Entry sign, “Except for Buses and Taxis”, and a warning that Cameras control this road and penalty notices will be automatically issued warnings etc, however at the bottom of sign in small letters it says “except for access to hotels” (in Spanish), so you can ignore the No Entry and keep going up until you get to a roundabout. You will see a Burger King (quite discreet signage in windows only)on the left and the Hotel is right opposite on the right , but you can’t park at the front (even to unload) so turn right at the hotel entrance and then go down a block to the first traffic light and turn right again and then down another block and turn right again following signs to Parking Victoria (basically you are coming back to the side of the front of the hotel), however just before you get back to the front again there is another No Entry sign a few yards before the parking entrance which you can by then see is on your right, but again you are allowed to ignore it to get to the Parking! Once parked there is a lift that takes you direct to the hotel lobby. Be sure to show Reception your parking ticket and get them to log your car registration so you don’t get a Penalty ticket from the auto cameras you have just ignored!! NB Car park costs about 20 euros a day and hotel doesn’t control it so you have to pay separately. The standard room we booked was excellent, pretty newly refurbished and with a great view over the main square area. Good sized double bed, large French style windows overlooking the main road but no balcony. The double galzing is good and keeps out the traffic noise on the whole and the air conditioning is good and effective. The room has a desk unit to work at or to use as a dressing table (but no mirror over). The mini bar is below (if you purchase their two night weekend extender package you get breakfast and the contents of the reasonably well stocked mini bar thrown in (they don’t refill it on the second day however and no wine, only three spirits miniatures and three beers plus plenty of water and soft drinks, a Kitkat chocolate bar and a packet of crisps!!). There is a reasonable amount of open hanging space (certainly fine for a short stay) with safe etc. The bathroom was newly refurbished but only a decent walk in shower (no bath but the shower was good one). Fairly minimal eco friendly fruit flavoured shower gel and shampoo . The hotel had run out of soap the day we arrived however which wasn’t great but they provided extra shower gel. On day two an orange flavoured bar of soap appeared but whilst just about adequate it had totally worn out by the next day so you can imagine how thin it was to start with....not a huge problem but a niggly thing when the rest of the product was pretty good and at a very reasonable rate for a city centre hotel. Free wifi also provided works in room and public areas (get vouchers from reception as required). The free service is fairly basic but fine for emails and general surfing. There is a faster business option available but that is chargeable. Breakfast each day was terrific with a great choice and hot dishes such as omelettes and fried, poached and scrambled eggs with bacon , sausages available to order which was great as resolved the normal stone cold buffet experience seen elsewhere! Friendly and helpful staff despite hotel being full on the first night. Top Spanish football team were also staying so front of hotel a bit crowded with autograph hunters on the Sunday morning when they left but this didnt detract in any way.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the main street rather than the rear side street or an inner courtyard

We stayed at the NH Victoria for one night on Friday 6th September. We had two rooms, double for me and my wife and a single for our daughter. Booked through Booking.com pretty good rate for the three of us with breakfast. Chose the NH because it looked like it was in good location for the city parking was well explained and close (under the hotel!) and of course all the reviews were really good.
Within a few days of booking the hotel emailed us with details of how to get to the hotel including how to get to the car park. We had already done the street view on Google map and sussed it out; it looked really convenient and at 20 euro for 24 hrs wasn’t too bad. Getting to the hotel from the motorway is really easy and as per instructions, the car park is under the hotel it’s thus very convenient but very very tight and if you get there (as we did) with 6 cars trying to find a space and 6 others trying to get out it’s a real pain; so be warned but go for it because once you par up at least you can forget the car.
The Hotel reception team were absolutely fantastic, checking in great, they made sure we had rooms on the same floor. We said we were going to walk to the Alhambra so the guy gave us a look and said; ‘you do realise it’s all up hill; I don’t recommend it why not catch the bus its very cheap and you could walk back if you want to’. He was right don’t even think about it unless you are fit as a butcher’s dog. The reception guy pulled out the map and marked where to collect the tickets (ServiCaixa machine just round the corner) and also where to catch the bus.
Hotel lovely and clean rooms were spot on, good size and also clean. Open the door to the minute balcony and you get the sounds of the city and a great view of life passing buy in Granada.
Not sure why but the restaurant wasn’t open on the evening but given all the restaurants in the city that’s not really an issue. Breakfast was great, wide continental selection and if you want the bacon and eggs just order them.
As for the Alhambra all we can say is WOW. If you haven’t already sussed it you can book tickets on line for the morning or afternoon; you also have to book your time slot for the Nasrid Palaces as well. On word of caution get to the queue say 30 minutes before your time slot it was surprising how many people turned up 30 minutes after their slot and were simply turned away. Also I don’t think they make it all that clear on the website but the entrance is a good 20 minute walk from the Nasrid so timing the visit is important; we got there for 14:30 and had a 17:30 slot at the Nasrid which worked really well.

Room Tip: Ask for the front of the hotel if you want t watch and listen to the City

The hotel is well located in Granada. We got an upgrade for a minimal amount, and we had a spacious and gorgeous room with two balconies. The breakfast included in the price has a very good variety and they prepare your eggs a la carte. The service was very good and helpful giving us information and good recommendations on where to eat and what to do in Granada. Because of this experience, we look forward to experiencing other NH hotels.

Great central location at Puerta Real within easy walking distance of the cathedral, dining plazas, and shopping streets. Alahmbra is walkable (back down is easier!) from here, but you are better off taking the #32 bus up for 1.2 euros (the bus stop is only a couple blocks away).

The decor of the hotel is surpisingly modern, but not in a look-at-me fashion, but one that is comfortable and relaxed. A refreshing variation from other more traditional hotels.

BTW, there is no doubt that the air conditioning works as when we checked in it was 45c out, and the interior was just perfect.

Also worth noting was the breakfast buffet which had a great variety, freshness and taste. It was the favorite breakfast buffet of any of the hotels we stayed at on this trip.

As another reviewer noted, finding the parking takes some doing. I'd stop on the street in front and have them give you directions, then don't worry when you approach what looks like the end of the street. the parking is just on the right. Unlike some under-hotel parking this one was relatively easy to navigate (we were in a Opel Insignia). I noted a Aston-Martin Vantage parked just behind us, so that should give you some confidence as well.

Room Tip: If you get a room off Recogidas, you will have a small balcony on what is a quiet street.

This Hotel is right in the center of Granada at walking distance of restaurants and shops. Has free Wi-Fi which was working only in the lobby area. The staff told me that by September 2012 they were expecting to have it available in all rooms.

We had an interior room, which was warmer compared to the ones with the balcony, but it was quiet because we did not get any street noise. It depends on your preference. If you need to wash or iron your clothes, they have laundry service that you pay for. Irons are not available for guests to take in the rooms.

Spent two nights here and it was a really good choice. Central location was unbeatable although the car park takes some finding and has challenging turns and gradients. The hotel itself is finished to a high standard as rooms are available at a very reasonable price. Request a road view to be able to take in the hustle and bustle of Granada from your small balcony. The hotel restaurant was closed late July to late August which might be a problem to some people and Wi-fi was only available in the hotel lobby which was real pain.
