“Stunning hotel in top location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 September 2012

This place is a beautiful hotel away from the noise of the crazy tourist trade that is Granada. The rooms are excellent and the entire hotel has a lot of character and has charm, it's a very romantic spot. The only downfall is that we could hear the people in the rooms next door to us on both sides.

We don't want to put anyone off the rooms are clean and the bathroom was excellent. The bed was cozy and comfortable, and furniture / decor was very tasteful. Also very thoughtful touches with the Molton Brown products and the bottles of water in the room.

Room Tip: Good value for a stay. Enjoy the charm of this romantic hotel.

Don't be fooled by the 3 star rating - this hotel is is beautiful. The rooms are very cozy and clean, the bathrooms well appointed, the beds comfy. The location is perfect, an easy walk to a lot of the major attractions. What really made it special was the staff ! Everyone was friendly, helpful and fluent in english. Sonia (front desk) was exceptional. She was very friendly, her recommendations were spot-on and she went out of her way to be helpful by printing off a map of the drive to our destination the next day(Valencia). Thank you for a wonderful stay in historic and beautiful Granada!

Beautiful rooms and building with plenty of character. The hotel is conveniently located in the old town, steps from Plaza Nueva and in the shadow of the Alhambra. Plenty of sights and restaurants nearby. The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating - they kept our bags for the day while we were out exploring the Alhambra. Free wifi in rooms. We made the mistake of walking from the train station - took a cab back the other way! Would return for sure.

It's good to find there are still hotels offering efficient service slap-bang in the middle of a tourist town. This hotel is in an ideal location for easy access to all that Granada offers, the rooms are pleasant (beds really comfortable) and the staff are helpful; they arranged tickets to the Alhambra at short notice and only chanrged about £5 commission.
There is nowhere to park but the receptionist had advised us to leave the car in a multi-storey in town and take a cab to the hotel.
Try the late night Flamenco a few doors down the street!

Room Tip: It's in a noisy part of town but there's aircon in the rooms so you can close the windows an...

We have just spent 5 days in this lovely hotel, it really is beautiful and so spacious, cool and airy. We were lucky and had been upgraded to the Generalife suite (our original room was having some refurbishment). The suite was fabulous with windows on three sides and amazing views. The bed was large and very comfortable and the room and hotel were immaculately clean. The staff were so helpful, from booking the best table on the terrace at the Carmen Mirador de Aixa restaurant (well worth a visit, more expensive than tapas but perfect for a romantic meal, great food and the most amazing view of the Alhambra) to recommending shops, the cathedral and tapas bars. We also went on the olive oil tour which the hotel receptionist booked for us - really recommend, very interesting and the tour guide was lovely. This hotel is in such a perfect location and the staff are so friendly. Breakfast is excellent too, would love to go back!

Room Tip: The Generalife suite is fabulous!

This is one of the most comfortable small hotels we have stayed in in all of Europe. It is immaculate, tastefully decorated, well-appointed and filled with charm and warmth. Both the rooms (including the bathroom) and the common areas are spacious and inviting. And everything works. The staff is genuinely freindly and attentive--providing help and advice on everything from transportation to dining to sightseeing. Every evening they put out wine, olives and other treats in the library room on the first floor and guests gather and talk and drink wine. You make friends and feel a real sense of community. And then there's the location--at the foot of the Albaicin just across the river from the Alhambra. You are in the heart of Grenada—an incredible cultural and ethnic stew, Moroccan, Spanish, Jewish, Turkish, and I don't know what else, all stirred together in this ancient and seasoned kettle. You just don't know where to look next. Around every corner is a surprise, a new assault on your senses. You move through the night and you move through the music—flamenco guitar, Moroccan kettle drums, bag pipes, gypsy accordions, techno electro. Step out the front door of the hotel and wander up through the narrow streets and back alleys of the Albaicin (the old Moorish quarter). Have dinner high in the hills across the arroyo from the Alhambra and watch the sunset. It's all steps away from the front door of this beautiful little hotel. And at bargain prices.

We were recommended this hotel by some friends from Norway. It was a fantastic stay at a small and personal hotel. It is situated in the most charming area in the old town of Granada. Wonderful view to Alhambra. Very friendly staff. We will definitely come back to El Ladron de Aqua.
