We spent 4 nights at El Ladron de Agua, and enjoyed almost every minute of our stay there. The hotel's employees were pleasant and helpful. Our room was excellent with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The downstairs courtyard was designed in a modern motif which was extremely beautiful. The breakfast room and lounge were also well designed and beautiful. Art work is scattered throughout.

It is an excellent location for a visit to the old city, the Albayzin neighborhood, and the Alhambra,. The Plaza Nueva is 2 or 3 blocks downhill from the hotel, the Cathedral is 1/2 mile away, downtown stores were just as close, and the Alhambra is a 2/3 mile mainly uphill walk from here.

El Ladron de Agua is a very good hotel and is in good location for a visit to the old city of Granada and the Alhambra. But we do not recommend this hotel if you plan to visit with a car. The only parking areas are quite far from the hotel. When we arrived in Granada, I could not locate the parking areas the hotel recommend - so I drove to the hotel. You are not supposed to drive in the old part of Granada without a special permit, but nobody stopped us. Then we drove the car to a parking garage and returned to hotel via taxi. When leaving I asked the person at the front desk if a taxi could take us into the underground parking garage. The front desk person did not know (disappointing -since I would expect the hotel staff to know this type of information). but when the taxi came the driver was very helpful and drove us right to our parking spot in the underground garage. Just a very small additional fee for the taxi to go in and out of the garage. On the positive side the hotel helped us to get advanced tickets to visit the Alhambra. Saved us a lot of time - did not have to wait in a long line to purchase tickets. Hotel rooms are nice and comfortable.

The access to the old town for private cars is restricted by the city in order to help preserve its historic charm and minimize pollution. We try to make every effort, via our website, to alert guests to this so they can arrange cabs and convenient nearby parking. We are pleased that you were able to resolve this and enjoy the rest of your stay in beautiful Granada.

The entrance to the hotel is nondescript but when you walk in, you will find friendly reception staff and a charmingly decorated hotel. The rooms had lovely stone floors, wooden beams, and a very comfortable bed. As others have mentioned, the hotel is really in an unbeatable location beside Plaza Nueva. From the plaza, as well as the neighbouring Plaza de Santa Anna, you can either board the HOHO bus or the local bus services to get to the Alhambra, Sacramonte etc. If you walk further down, you get to the main shopping street with all the high street brands and you can also easily get to the cathedral and the shops of the Alcaiceria. Should you book a pampering session at the Hammam Al-Andalus, it is literally 1 minute away across the Darro River. Also, you can conveniently collect your Alhambra tickets plus buy interesting books from the nearby Tienda de Libreria Alhambra store. I would actually give the hotel 4.5 stars because it would have been great if they can provide coffee/tea making facilities in the room. It would have been nice to make yourself a hot drink in the room during winter. Highly recommended, nonetheless!

Room tip: Get a room with the view of the Darro River. We stayed in the Manuel de Falla room on the first floor. The room received lots of sunlight and we could also see one of the towers of the Alhambra.

We only stayed here for one night, but I wish it had been longer. It is literally down the road from the main piazza, but because it is on a side road, you don't hear any of the noise and still feel like you are off the beaten track. The rooms were stunning, with beautiful stone floors. I can confirm they were real stone as I dropped my glasses and they broke in half. Luckily, the reception was kind enough to help me cellotape them up. If I were to smash my glasses anywhere, this was a good place to do it! The beds were extremely comfy, unlike the standard hard pillows you can sometimes get in Spain. I would highly recommend it. Also, if you can book a visit to the Alhambra at night (the 8pm viewing), it's well worth it!

We stayed at this quaint hotel in Granada for vacation. The service, room and overall comfort were excellent. Highly recommend it. We stayed at the Generalife room, at the top of the hotel, very nice view of the Alhambra from iur window.
