“Wonderful spot, but "pension" is misleading-this is a hotel.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

My husband and I really loved everything about Hostal Rodri-except that we were expecting a pension or B & B, and this place is a hotel. There is no kitchen, breakfast service, common area, or any of the things we normally associate with a pension. Additionally, booking.com said that parking would be available for 12 euros a day-but there was no parking on site. We drove around until we (luckily) found a spot in the street that was free.
That aside, it was probably the nicest place we stayed during our trip to Spain, and the price was wonderful. Rodri is in a wonderful location to sights and nightlife. It was easy to find, and the owner was wonderful. I recommend staying here.

From entering the town, the Rodri hostal was very clearly signposted all the way - very easy to follow. We arrived and were met by Jose. He parked my car in garage on site (12 euros/day). He was very helpful and using a street map guided us to the good attractions, bars and restaurants. The room was compact, spotless and air conditioned. The towels were changed daily. When we asked the chamber maid for a different type of pillow that was done right away - no problem. We were made feel very welcome and the location was at centre of town. We would definetly go back to this hostal.

I really cannot save enough good things about this "Hostal"/"Pension" (in quotes as, realistically, it is more like the quality of a hotel, just without the extra facilities).

All of the reviews here are exactly right. It is probably the best place we have ever stayed, and many of the places we have stayed have been far more expensive than Hostal Rodri.

Firstly, it was immaculate. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless when we arrived and cleaned to a similar standard each day.

Secondly, it was very comfortable. The room was a good size, with plenty of storage, as was the bathroom. The rooms are modern and very adequately size.

Thirdly, the service was excellent. Upon arrival we had assistance in taking our bags to our rooms, after having Granada thoroughly explained to us - with a detailed map provided of all the highlights. Additionally, as the carpark was out of order (they were doing up the street during our stay), our host kindly assisted us to take our car to a nearby car park.

Fourthly, and probably least importantly given the other criteria, the price. It's almost too good to be true; to get this standard of accommodation and experience for 45 euro a night.

We loved Granada, and we loved Hostal Rodri. After 3 weeks in Spain, this really was one of the highlights. We would have absolutely no hesitation in returning here and wouldn't consider anywhere else.

In summary, great location, great room, great service, great price.

The value here is quite simply phenomenal. The hotel is beautiful, new, immaculately clean and centrally located off a square about 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral.
When we checked in the took about ten minutes to draw out on a map all of the sights we wanted to see, including the bus numbers and routes to get you there. The bathroom had marble floors and vanity, there were two ample windows looking out onto a courtyard and cute little top floor terrace for having a glass of wine in the evening. The room came with air conditioning and two comfortable beds and was an ample size. We did a lot of research into hotels in Spain and it paid off. This one and another unrelated hotel in Sevilla by far were the best values. Interestingly enough, the two hotels with the best value also were the best kept, cleanest and had the best service. The Hostal Rodri, is not a hostal by North American definitions, this is a hotel and a very nice one at that.
The centre of Granada is peppered with squares and restaurants and places to shop. This one is located in the heart of city off Plaza de la Trinidad on a quiet street. No matter how picky a traveller you are, this one will probably tick all your boxes while being very kind to your pocketbook.
When I was shopping in the store on the corner the owner of the store asked me where I was staying, I told her the “Hostal Rodri”. She said, “oh, they are always full, always full”. With good reason too!

Set just off the Plaza Trindad, 5 minutes from the Cathedral and the Gran Via de Colon bus stops, this hostel is in the centre of the old city and is a great venue from where to explore the city either on foot or by local transport. From the Gran Via you get the number 30 bus to the Alhambra, cost 1.20 euro each way. The first bus of the day starts at 7:20am which is great for those who want to queue for tickets or those who have early times for entry into the Nasrid Palaces. From the same place you can catch number 31 bus which takes you up into the old Arab area overlooking the Alhambra and up to the Plaza San Nicolas. (The Bar Kiki is also at this Plaza)
The owners of the Hostel are very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make you feel at home and give such good advice as to where to eat, shop and sight see. All the rooms are very nice, well appointed, have great wifi and have modern bathrooms.
At one end of the street is a corner store, great for water, wine, fruit and snacks at local prices and at the other end is the shaded Plaza Trindad with several bars and cafes frequented by locals and tourists alike.
The Hostal Rodri is a great venue, it has top service and at 45 euros a night, it is exceptional value. It ticks all the boxes!

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

This is a brilliant place to stay, it really can't faulted. It's good value (please continue!), in a very nice location, has very clean and nicely decorated rooms with wifi, and the staff are very super-helpful and friendly.

I also really appreciated the fact that they have single rooms which made it much cheaper for us than booking doubles for single use.
