“Wonderful Break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

We have just returned from a wonderful 4 nights in Granada.
Our room was lovely & the beds very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with lots of fresh fruit and homemade cake.
The staff at the Santa Isabel were so helpful with tours and advice.
Its in a great location with the number 31 bus stop right outside.
Restaurants a 5 minute walk away.

I have stayed in the hotel Santa Isabel la Real previously but they were fully booked this time and so they offered me lodging in their "Casita." It is located a short distance away from the hotel and would probably work quite well for a small family, but for three men traveling together it was not the best since there was only one bathroom and two single beds in one room. It was however clean, quiet and in a great location. Overall, it was fine but I would prefer the hotel if that option had been available.

The hotel couldn't be better located. From the train station, it cost us 8 euros for a taxi. Don't be like the fools dragging their suitcases up the 45 degree, cobbled streets - you will only regret it. The hotel is located in the Albayzin, a 5 minute walk from Mirador de San Nicolas, which happens to be the best point for viewing the Alhambra in its entirety. There is also a group of restaurants 2 minutes walk away from the hotel. Buses to the Alhambra and city centre run past the hotel frequently.

The hotel itself is very nice. The central open air courtyard is a great place to relax and enjoy the silence. The rooms are very clean and offer most of the essentials: safe, hairdryer, nice toiletries & fridge. On the downside, Wi-Fi was poor in our ground floor room, rooms are not exactly well sound-proofed and no tea & coffee making facilities (although this is the case in most of Spain). The breakfast was also a little disappointing. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

Overall, this hotel was perfect for our 2 night stay and I would recommend it to others.

We have stayed in Hotel Santa Isabel la Real three times, and each has been a superior stay. The hotel is situated away from commercial Grenada and has spectacular views of the Alhambra, Grenada at sunset and the Arizona mountain range.

The hotel is situated for an easy walk to restaurants el Aje, down hill towards the square and uphill to a more formal one. The breakfasts are very good.

The staff is extremely helpful and the hotel has a cozy library, with fireplace, where we spent a comfy New Years day .
A great place to stay!

Room Tip: there is at least one room with no windows to the outside. We enjoyed the room, but if an outside vi...

Granada has 2 main attractions: the alhambra and albayzin..staying in albayzin means you feel that you are in a lovely village, not in a city....the disadvantages are that some streets are very narrow to drive, and uncomfortable to walk back uphill - but there are buses to cater for that....we did not regret our choice to stay in this area. Although this hotel is almost at the top of albayzin hill... however, they have a convenient garage a few metres away from the hotel entrance, and the bus which connects you to the other parts of the city stops almost outside the entrance.

The hotel itself is is carefully decorated in the traditional style, and very well kept. our room was comfortable, and very clean - the quality is much higher than an average 3 star hotel. the staff are very friendly and helpful. they serve a good, fresh breakfast.

definitely recommended.

A comfortable, clean hotel conveniently situated to explore Granada. However if travelling by car make sure it is a small car as the roads around the hotel are narrow. Furthermore adhere to the maps provided by the hotel and do your map research carefully as we ended up stuck up a side road a caused havoc!!! Once there stick to the 31 bus!
The highlight however was the restaurants recommended by Miriam. We ate in the expensive, the reasonable and at a cheap real local tapas bar - all superb.

Perfectly positioned in the old quarter, a short walk from the best sunset view of the Alhambra Palace, restaurants in the little square nearby, and a bus stop conveniently just outside the front door (you'll be grateful for that on the return trip back up the hill), this is a lovely hotel created from an old merchant's house. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, rooms spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was a fantastic buffet of croissants, omelettes, fresh fruit, cereals, freshly squeezed orange juice, home-made lemonade, great coffee, all constantly re-stocked by the lovely Carmen. We were driving, and the instructions to the covered car-park were excellent - they even let us keep the car in the car-park for the day after we'd checked out. All fantastic value. One word of warning - make sure you look left when stepping out of the entrance - the Granadan drivers take no prisoners!
