“Lovely hotel - but if you're driving make sure you have their map!”
Reviewed 13 September 2010

My husband and I stayed here last week for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. it's in a great location looking over Seville and in such a beautiful area. The only warning is if you're driving don't forget to print out the map they send you on how to find the hotel as it's not at all simple and you can't work it out from a road map! So after a stressful hour, well worth the journey and we spent a fantastic few days exploring Granada. Good value and great staff. All in all i'd really recommend it.

I stayed at the hotel for one night in August 2010 with my wife and 3 children (age range 8 to 12). The hotel is spotless and built around an internal courtyard. Although it has an old world charm the bathrooms are very modern. The air con was fine ( a necessaity in August) as was the small breakfast. The location is great, in the old quarter of Granada, with bars and restaurants a few minutes walk, great views of the Alhambra and the rest of the city, and on the bus route. The staff were friendly anfd helpful both when booking and during our stay.
I would recomment the hotel to anyone - a fabulous find.

Stop scanning Trip Advisor reviews and move as fast as you can to book your stay at the adorable and quaint Hotel Santa Isabel la Real. I stayed here for one night in July 2010 while visiting Granada with a friend, and we absolutely loved it. We paid 105 Euros (off-season rates) for a Superior room with two twin beds.

Upon arriving at the hotel via taxi from the Granada train station, we were hungry and tired thanks to an early-morning train with no cafeteria car. The very kind woman at the front desk at Hotel Santa Isabel la Real recognized this and, without us asking, brought us a delicious tray of hot coffee, heated milk, and delicious sweet bread to enjoy while we waited for our room. It was our favorite meal of the trip!

Our room was on the third floor and was simply stunning. It was so beautifully appointed that my friend and I couldn't stop oooh-ing and aaah-ing over everything when we first walked in! The room decor was a fabulous rustic chic, with a colorful woven rug pinned to the wall for dramatic backdrop to two starch-white and oh-so-comfy beds. Evocative dark beams lined the ceiling, making us feel like we were in some cool tree-top fort or a cabin. The bathroom was super modern and luxurious, with stainless-steel appliances, high-end toiletries, and a large shower. Windows on either side of the room showcased views of the Alhambra and, when opened, let in a peaceful breeze.

The hotel is operated liked a bed-and-breakfast, with only 10-12 rooms that line three floors above an open-air interior courtyard. Another great aspect to this hotel is that breakfast is included: a rare feature among Spanish hotels! We enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast featuring cereals, cold cuts, eggs, fruit, pastries, yogurts, fresh bread, juice and coffee. Additionally, the hotel has a laptop with Internet access available for guest usage for free.

Frankly, I wasn't sure what to expect when I booked this hotel. I only booked here because the Parador at the Alhambra was full. Listen to me: Forget the Parador! Not worth the money to be stuck with the tourist thongs up at the Alhambra and missing the other vibrant, much more exciting neighborhoods that Granada has to offer. Hotel Santa Isabel la Real is located in the Albaicin neighborhood of Granada. The Albaicin is an adorable, white-washed cluster of cobblestone streets and alleyways that climb up-up-up to cover one whole mountain-side adjacent to the Alhambra. It is lovely and quintessentially Spanish -- we really enjoyed wandering the streets, with each alleyway more picturesque than the last. It is a short, 15-minute walk down to the hill to explore the Granada city center. Additionally, Granada has impressive and easy-to-use transportation available to tourists in the form of mini-buses / vans that come constantly past the hotel and all throughout the region. Pick any of them up, and you can get to the Alhambra or anywhere else in Granada in no time.

Overall, this is a stunning, world-class hotel and a true hidden gem. I truly enjoyed being a guest at Hotel Santa Isabel la Real, and hope you get to enjoy it someday too.

We stayed here for two nights 13/14 July 2010. Our twin-bedded room No3 was comfortable and cool even in the middle of the blistering heat of the day outside. The only window opened onto an inner courtyard which proved to be a blessing as the heat was kept at bay and the nights were both dark and quiet. The complimentary breakfast served from 07.30 until 10.30 was more than adequate and in the evening a two minute walk will give you the choice of several good restaurants. The staff are friendly and efficient and the price of 105 Euros per night was I thought very good value. One word of advice, don't try to find this hotel in your car if you don't know the city. It is a nightmare! If you must drive there hail a taxi and follow him to the hotel. It will save you hours of frustration and the truth is, once there you won't need the car anyway. Small local tourist buses stop 20 metres from the hotel door and deliver you to the centre of town or to the Alhambra for a mere 1.20 Euros.

I spent two nights at this lovely atmospheric and quiet hotel. Loved everything. Have the photo of my beautiful room as a screen saver so I can refresh my memories of a fantastic time. A staff member organised a taxi and wrapped up some breakfast for me to take when I had to leave very early on my day of departure (note to self - don't book early flights - leave at lunchtime..) If I travel to Granada again, I would definitely stay here.
