“Stunning Decor - Terrible Service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2010

Incredibly talented Interior Designers of this hotel, perfect with their attention to detail, yet unfortunately the Management is the opposite. The Front Desk staff was seriously un-attentive, smug and acted as if we were bothering them upon check-in, check-out or when asking any questions. It is truly a beautiful boutique hotel but we left feeling cold, annoyed and in bad moods because of the main female receptionist and her male counterpart. Service is very important if you are running a hotel - FYI. We returned to Granada after a road trip a few days later and chose a different hotel.

Had an issue with our booking before we went so had phoned the hotel in advance seeking some flexibility. They were helpful but did not accommodate my request. When we arrived there, it felt as if there was a black mark against our name - they did not make us feel welcome at all. It was obvious the hotel was not full so they could have facilitated our request. The room we got was an attic room - we felt we were being punished - it was stylish but extremely small. Small attic windows at a height so we had no external view. The vanity unit was fitted with fold back louvred doors which, if left open, meant you could not open the toilet door ! The reception staff never greeted us entering or leaving the hotel - they were permanently po-faced....
Bar service in the garden was extremely slow - we waited so long for the bill that we were tempted to do a 'runner' !!
Pity because the hotel itself is stunning. They have done a wonderful job of renovating an old property tasefully and stylishly. Little touches like candles lit in the corridors etc We loved the building and it is in a good location with easy access to the city centre.
Just goes to show - looks ain't everything - we expected more from this hotel and left disappointed.

Hotel Villa Oniria is very conveniently located in old town in the center of Granada. The building is very authentic with beautiful fountain, wide staircase, and high ceilings. Hotel Villa Oniria has a huge patio and a terrace. All public places are nicely furnished. They serve wonderful breakfast buffet. If weather is good try to get a table outside on the terrace under palms. We had a small room on first floor with a balcony. Room was freshly refurbished and very clean. Our friends got way bigger room on 3-rd floor with king bed, balcony and two windows. As fact that I paid month earlier but the same price yet they got better room – unfair. WIFI – is free and fast. Valet parking is at regular price and we had no problem. There is a grocery store next door which is open till midnight. If you heading toward Granada – spend a night in Hotel Villa Oniria you won’t regret, but make sure you are assigned in good room you have paid for.

Granada is a stunning city and the Villa Oniria is surely a nice place to discover it from. A very stylish hotel, the Villa is a refreshing break from the usual chain hotels.

Our room was large enough and nicely designed & furnished. My only criticism would be the bathroom doors - yes, I suspect that every time I complain about the designer fad of building hotel bathrooms with glass walls & doors, a little kitten dies, but it is truly annoying.
What's wrong with having proper doors and not just glass swing-doors? I may be getting old, but I'll take functionality over design any day when it comes to this matter.

Other than that, the garden's very nice and the breakfast quite acceptable. We couldn't try the restaurant for dinner as it was closed.

The service is good, provided staff are around - they aren't always, so be prepared to wait a minute or two until somebody rocks up once you have entered or sat down.

I stayed with my wife at this excellent hotel located in the heart of the beautiful city of Granada.

The hotel has nice modern and fashionable rooms. I would define it a hip hotel.

Our room did not have the bathtub but there was a big shower. The room was equipped with all the amenities you are looking for.

There was wireless LAN in the rooms but you had to pay for it. Breakfast is excellent. A fully continental breakfast with many different choices.

The only drawback was that in order to access their Spa you had to pay an extra 25€ more, which honestly I think is too much.

We paied about 140€ per night breakfast and parking included.

The hotel is pretty in that subdued, relais et chateau way. The rooms were large and well-designed, and the bedding was great. BUT the rooms were warm and stuffy and when we asked about air-conditioning all they did was to tell us how to use it. We tried everything and the air did not work and no one came to check it out. We were there when the weather was moderate so I can't imagine staying at this hotel when it's warm.

The other thing is that the rooms are really designed for couples in that the bathrooms have interior windows on to the sleeping area, which is attractive, but not practical, if you need privacy.

The hotel has a gym but it was like a sauna in there, and they charged for it.

The hotel is nice, but I am personally extremely irritated if I get charged for any small thing extra. Wi-fi costs 6 EUR an hour. The Spa you need to pay, which is still understandable, but to charge also money for the use of the gym in a 4-star hotel is completely out of place. It is a pitty because these small issues leave a bad taste on the whole stay, not that it is a money problem, but basic services need to be included in the room price (and I did not pay any discounted rate etc.). Rooms itself are good, bathrooms a bit strange (no proper shower; need to shower in the bath tub but there is nothing where you can fix the shower handle without flooding the whole bathroom). There is a nice garden as well as a roof-terrace.
