We stayed two nights in Hostal Alcazaba in April.
It is in center of Malaga, but not that close to tourist attractions. You need to walk about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the hustle and bustle of the main attractions and Albayzín.
The staff doesn't speak English but pleasant to deal with and the check-in was pain free. We made a booking on Booking.com, and they charged us the first night of stay initially.
The room and the ensuite bathroom were very basic, but that was expected from the price we paid. The biggest problem we had, however, was noise. The wall is paper thin, and you can hear very well the noises from other rooms and floors. Someone in the floor above us was watching TV until very late at night, and we could basically hear what was going on in the movie. Someone on our floor snored very loudly too. Wifi connection was okay.
All in all, I think we would have stayed somewhere else, perhaps closer to Albayzín, by paying a little bit more. But given the price we paid (21 Euros for per night for two people), it is very cheap and for that we cannot complain. Hence I'm giving three stars.More
