The Hotel Granada Centro is a nicely modernized tourist class hotel just one block off the north end of boulevard Gran Via, a 10 minute walk from the cathedral and main plazas of Granada at the south end of Gran Via.

Keep in mind that there are two hotels in Granada with almost identical names. This one is on Navarette street. The other is not as centrally located in spite of its name.

To get to the hotel from the bus station, which is far north of the town center, take the local bus (#3 or #33 I believe, ask the driver) and get off at the first bus stop on Gran Via.

Navarette street is just one short block west of the northern end of Gran Via. One can take Tinajilla street off Gran Via, or take the staircase that leads down to Navarette from Gran Via directly across from the huge white villa with carved balconies and large walled garden (the only one like it on Gran Via).

The hotel is surrounded by graffiti (actually quite artistic), but it is a safe and quiet neighborhood. The location near Gran Via is very convenient for the mini-buses which go to Albaicin and Sacromonte. The minibuses to the Alhambra leave from the cathedral area down Gran Via.

On my recent stay there I had a small non-smoking single room with a large elegant bathroom. The room was modernized with IKEA style furniture and a flat screen TV (no international channels). The climate control (heat during my stay) worked well and was quiet.

The shower (no tub) had fantastic water pressure -- a joy after a long day of sightseeing. Both the sleeping area and the bathroom had nice windows but no views. The streets around the hotel are very quiet and I slept very well.

Based on the fire plan, the rooms varied in size, and my single was the smallest. It was snug but functional for one person.

The front desk staff was friendly. I booked through Expedia and had no problem with my pre-paid reservation. Booking directly may be even cheaper. The hotel was good about replying to my email requesting a confirmation of my stay.

Next to the front desk is a wi-fi and internet room for the free use of guests. There is no restaurant, but I believe the hotel sells vouchers for breakfast nearby.

Instead I went to the nearby Supercor mini-market (part of the wonderful Corte Ingles department store chain) for food and wine. It is marked on the free map that the front desk gives you. That free map is far better than the one sold by the info booth at the bus station, which I would avoid.

Granada is not as friendly as other tourist towns in Andalucia, it merely tolerates it visitors. But the Hotel Granada Centro was a friendly exception, and I would happily stay there again.

Room tip: All rooms have windows onto quiet streets with no views. All rooms are different sizes per the fire plan.

This place was fairly reasonable. Just off one of Granada's main streets it was a short stroll into city centre. The room was kept clean, and the staff were kind to look after our bags before check in and after check out.

We did not spend alot of time in the hotel, but it definitely provided us with a decent room for our stay!

Definitely a good find and we were glad we read the reviews about it.

Great value hotel, very helpful young man on reception. Room was large and very clean (104), two large french windows which opened onto two litttle balconys overlooking a quiet street, just set back from the Gran Via brilliant bathroom, great shower. Don't be put off by the street, Granada seems to be suffering from the recession worse than other places.
Wi-Fi didn't work very well. Bed very comfortable and good air con.
No breakfast facilities, but plenty of places nearby, about a 10 minute walk from the Cathederal and a couple of minutes to tjhe bus stop. The buses were very cheap and most of the lines are circular, ideal for hopping on and off.

Initially finding the hotel is the hard part, once you have found it and parked the car the city is accessible by foot.
We walked to the AlHambra palace from here, the shopping centre and the old town.
Hotel has free wifi that worked very well, a little TV room and a small lounge/computer room.
Very clean and a/c worked well.
Room only so no food available but a vending machine at reception sells hot/cold drinks and crisps etc.
The location is very good, easy walk to bars and restaurants and I would stay there again. Granada is a lovely city and I will return.
