My wife and I had the pleasure of eating at Al-Medina on two occasions this week. The first time we found ourselves in the restaurant on a quiet evening. We dived into the menu and found ourselves having difficulty in making a choice. We love Moroccan food and with the prospect it would be our only time to eat in this restaurant, we decided to order more than we could eat so we could try as many things as possible. When we asked the owner / host for suggestions he guided us to from starters to wine selections - all Moroccan. We indulged in hummus, a Berber Salad, a chicken pastelas, and the royal couscous all accompanied with a Moroccan wine. With each bite we were in paradise. Absolutely great!
The following day we were trying to figure out where to eat on New Years Eve. We immediately thought...why not go back and enjoy another great meal at Al-Medina. So we did. We were joined by to wonderful ladies at our table and the meal on this occasion proved even more satisfying. We had the grilled pepper salad, the Berber salad, the chicken pastelas and a Tagine with lamb, honey and almonds. It was amazing. We both agreed it was the perfect meal. The tagine may have been the best lamb dish I have ever had...and...given I have had lamb throughout North Africa and the Middle East - that is a bold claim. On this occasion, we had the pleasure of a belly dancer as midnight approached. With the New Year, we sipped champagne and had our 12 lucky grapes for th e new year. A perfect night.
So for us...two occasions...two fabulous meals...and if I were in Seville again...I would return again. So just go...have a great meal...let the owner be your guide...you won't be disappointed.
If you have never had Moroccan food...then you must try it. Be brave and you will be rewarded.
I awared Al-Medina....SIX STARS. Thank you to the owner...a fine gentlemen and wonderful host.
