Ok, So this is an interesting one. I am surprised by the incredible reviews! The Hotel itself is absolutely stunning. The staff are pleasant and do seem to go out of their way to take care of you, but it definitely lacks the "polished" staff you get with a 4+star hotel. & the little details are missing. First off the rooms (especially the lighting) are incredible. The bathrooms are a bit dark for doing makeup.

Pros:
- Beautiful Hotel & Location - its like a hidden palace amongst the tiny streets of Seville
- They do try to accommodate your specific needs
- Large Mac computer in room
- Champagne and fruit in room on night of arrival
- Really friendly staff (Showed us two beautiful rooms to choose from upon our arrival)

Cons:
- Rooms weren't cleaned till after 1 when I had to call down to ask for them to come and clean them. (and I did leave my room everyday by 10)
- Laundry bins and carts where left outside my door for most of the day.
- When ordering lunch the servers phone rang and she answered "Room Service" which was kinda cute :)
- When We left We called for a "bellman" to come and take our luggage, When by the time we got downstairs (about 10 mins) later one of our suitcases was sitting outside the elevator (he forgot that one :)
- My husbands sunglasses went missing from the room. He did not take them with him nor did I, I asked the hotel to look into it but didn't get back to us. They were sitting on the counter in the washroom.
- A strange experience, one day when I called for the room to be cleaned the lady came and cleaned it, then 2 hours later (while I was in the washroom) I heard my front door open, when I walked towards the door and said "Hello" they quickly closed it without saying anything. When I went and looked to see who it was it was a man dressed in regular close with a service lady. He said he just thought the room wasn't cleaned. It seemed a bit odd, as everyone that worked there wore a uniform.

We loved the Palacio. Everything has been beautifully renovated and restored. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and sexy. Loved the huge bath. We looked out on to a courtyard at the back. Everything was lovely.

You can get pleasantly lost in the maze of back lanes and alleyways, but it never felt unsafe and we always found our way eventually. Charming.

Only bad mark was against the breakfast. It seemed pretty expensive.

This hotel was a 10 euro cab ride from the Seville Santa Justa train station. It's location is slightly outside the main square/strip but from the research we did, no closer hotel offered the luxury we wanted. The Cathedral and main area was easily accessible by foot - 15 minutes tops. The staff was very friendly, spoke English well, was attentive and took their time with every request we had. the room was very spacious including soaring ceilings. Bulgari bath products were a nice touch. The outdoor lounge situated within the complex was superb as well. The pool is actually a small plunge pool which we did not use - we figured for a 5 star, we'd get a larger pool.
I recommend this hotel which is not quite a North American 5 star but I believe is the closest you'll get in Seville that offers the modern comforts of home.

Loved everything about this place. Beautiful, unique rooms, great service, pool on the roof with sweeping views of Sevilla, a breathtaking lobby/court yard to eat your breakfast in every morning, and a free minibar!! What else could one ask for?

We stayed for two nights at the Alma Sevilla - Hotel Palacio de Villapanes in March 2011 ... and from the moment we arrived we felt like royalty ... and we wished we'd had more time to stay & enjoy the city of Seville and the Alma Sevilla.

We booked our hotel after reading the wonderful reviews here on TripAdvisor.com and were not disappointed. We stayed in an executive suite on the third floor and were extremely pleased with the room ... from the excellent service, to the comfortable bed, to the large tub and luxurious shower, to the views from our mini-balcony and the very helpful and informative staff that made our stay a memorable one.

We did not take advantage of the offerings at the restaurant and/or spa ... but did enjoy wine out on the patio in the evening while looking up at the stars. This was a gorgeous setting and wonderful experience, right in the center of Seville ... we had plenty of opportunity to sight-see during the day and relax and enjoy the atmosphere of Seville by night. The hotel was within easy walking distance of the Cathedral and the city center ... just make sure you have a map as you set out on your first journey into town -- as the city streets in Seville frequently change name and direction -- therefore, it is easy to get lost or disoriented -- but that does only add to the adventure that awaits you as you travel in a new city :)

Our only regret was not spending more time in this gorgeous city! Thank you to the staff at the Alma Sevilla for making our stay in Seville a fabulous experience!

This hotel deserves 5 stars for beauty but only 3.5 for function. Aesthetically, the rooms and common areas are exquisitely designed, sumptuous and elegant. The desk staff (especially Manuel) were gracious and helpful; we scored amazing seats for the bullfight and they sent us to a wonderful, authentic flamenco show. However some significant failings should be mentioned: our room, a deluxe superior, was laughably short of storage space. The only set of drawers was in the bathroom closet, and the closet door doubled as a sliding door to the bathroom, so if one person is trying to access the closet, the other person cannot enter the bathroom. There was only one chair in the room, and only one lounge on the terrace. On the last night of our stay the A/C malfunctioned, despite repeated calls to the desk. The person on duty told us the room temperature could only be adjusted on the computer, and they had to call in an outside technician to do it. Which, they claimed, they did, but it never got better. That said, our other interactions with the front desk were lovely, with great advice on where to eat and also getting tickets. Other pluses: the beds were very comfortable, it was quiet as a church, and the bathroom was gorgeous. Complimentary beverages in mini bar is a nice touch. During our stay the rooftop terrace was closed, sadly, because they are building a pool up there. We opted for breakfast at a nearby cafe because the hotel's, at 20E each, was a bit pricey.
Area recommendations
Santa Cruz area definitely offers the most convenient walking access to Seville's old city charms.
When to go
We went in early September; it was still in the 90s during the day but dry and sunny, and cooled down beautifully at night.

We just returned from a one-month stay in Europe, and this was by far the friendliest staff we encountered. The others were good. These people were stellar. The facility is beautiful (something of a contrast with the ordinary neighborhood). The room was a nicely appointed double superior and had plenty of room. The bed itself was wonderful. The hotel is a bit of a hike from Seville's major attractions, but it's an easy walk if you're up to it. The breakfast buffet was a bit scant and fairly over-priced.
