Reviewed 9 January 2012

Our best hotel experiences in Spain were at the two Casa 1800 hotels in Seville and Granada.

From the standpoint of a tourist in Seville, the Casa 1800 in Seville is as close to perfect as there probably is.

The hotel is a lovingly restored 19th century mansion. Often you hear the turn of phrase, "clean for an old building." Casa 1800 Seville is clean for a new building, and is aesthetically beautiful. We didn't sight-see as much as we could have as we just felt like sitting in our courtyard, enjoying our surroundings and having tea (which is free, and which is a misnomer in Casa 1800 as tea involves an open fridge with juice, sparkling sodas, still and sparkling water, milk, as well as hot drinks such as coffee, tea and chocolates, and also platters of fruits and food (we didn't feel like eating dinner after tea)).

The location of the hotel is perfect. It is a 2 minute walk from the Cathedral, a 5 minute walk from the Alcazar, and is right on the edge of the jewish quarter. Without exaggeration, I have never been more happy in all my travels about the location of my hotel, than in relation to Casa 1800 Seville. We single out for special mention, the tapas bar that is right outside the front door of the hotel (we were somewhat guarded when recommended to go to the tapas bar right outside the hotel's front door, but later realized that that was where all the locals went to hide from the tourists, and the food was great).

Rooms are a little on the small side, but are very well appointed, spotlessly clean, and are as charmingly fitted out as the rest of the hotel.

Last and best mention is reserved for the staff. They are impossibly polite, knowledgeable and helpful. We had just come from Madrid where we had been at the receiving end of the professional if somewhat indifferent treatment that is common among business hotels, and the lovely ladies at the front desk of Casa 1800 was a refreshing change to all of that.

Places have vibes, and the vibe that Casa 1800 exudes is one of warm, almost dizzy, charm and comfort. Go and see, you won't be sorry.

Room Tip: Pick a high floor if possible. The tapas bar outside the hotel gets a bit noisy at night.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights and it was great! The location is excellent just a few hundred meters from the cathedral and in the middle of the old part of town surrounded by restaurants and shops. All the important landmarks are walking distance. Service is outstanding.

The staff is very polite without ever being obtrusive and always making an effort to make sure you have everything you need. Their recommendation (at our request) of a restaurant and a flamenco presentation were spot on.

Everything in the hotel is new since it is only a couple of years old, though the building itself is from the 17th century and has been restored with taste. The rooms have some welcome details such as many extra sockets to plug in phones, cameras and other electronic gismos. The closet has a light inside. And there is hotel wide free wi-fi.

The only "fault" worth mentioning is that the the hotel has no parking of its own. I doubt any building in that area does. In any case, if you do arrive in a car you must park about a 5 min walk away from the hotel in a public 24hr parking which has no preferential agreement with the hotel.

Room Tip: At an extra cost, the rooms on the third floor have I nice terrace and one of them has a jacuzzi

My wife and I stayed here near Christmas, and loved it. Staff is very friendly and helpful, tea time was a great bonus. Location can't be beat, right next to Barrio Santa Cruz and the Cathedral and Alcazar. Room was fantastic too. Look forward to coming back.

The hotel was as charming as Seville itself. Sevillanos are definitely different to Northern Spaniards. Everyone we met was friendly and so helpful.
We had room 103 and yes its not a huge room , but how much room do you need? This was the standard room,The bathroom was large and bright, we had a small outdoor area with french doors opening out, and the bedroom was just large enough for the bed wardrobe, little desk and a TV which you can put into the original language, not SKY but something to watch if you need to get away from the heat, we went in August, don't go in August unless you like the heat!!!! I lived in Mallorca for 20 years so like the heat but that was something else. It had air conditioning and a very comfy bed We were very happy!
When choosing places to stay, I will always prefer a unique, charming, clean and hospitable boutique hotel over one with enormous rooms.
The location cannot be beaten, the furnishings and decorations gorgeous and the staff were excellent, they recommended several fabulous restaurants and Flamenco bars. Just outside was the most typical Spanish bar I have found in a city, its called Las Columnas and they still write you a tab in chalk on the bar! they do an amazing G & T ,
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending both the Hotel or the city!
We will definitely go again

Room Tip: Pick a superior room if available, it may be a bit bigger. Don't bother with the ones with Jac...

Just completed a three night stay - family of 5.

Selected this & their Granada hotel after much research & reading reviews on TA. Found the reports accurate & happy to add ours to the many others.

Got two connecting rooms 301 (3rd floor) & 201 (2nd floor) connected by internal stairs.....worked a treat for us.

Rooms are small but well appointed, bathrooms are clean, shiny & lovely to use. Good showers however, agree with others that the temperature fluctuates.

We chose to eat breakfast in the hotel everyday because the setting & offer is brilliant - great value.

They provide complementary water, soft drinks & afternoon tea with treats.

Staff & management were very helpful, professional & treated us more like family than guests.

Can also recommend La Bulla for a great meal.....either lunch or dinner.

If you are looking at their Granada hotel you will see a similar review from us their soon as we were just as happy with our stay.

Room Tip: We had a high floor with the one on the third having access to a great view of the rooftops ofvSevil...

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Casa 1800 in Sevilla for 3 nights December 12-15. We picked this hotel because of the top ratings from Trip Advisor and now I know why it's rated #1. With only 20 rooms, it is intimate with charming ambiance with all the modern amenities you need. I booked the reservation directly with Irene via email. She was responsive to my questions and inquiries and it was great to finally meet her during our stay because she was so accomodating. All of the staff were friendly and provided excellent service. We booked a standard twin room and were in room 202 which was on the second floor and very beautiful with a small juliette balcony with a partial view of the Sevilla cathedral which was gorgeous in the evening. When we checked in, we were told to go the rooftop to see the incredible view of the cathedral. It was breathtaking. We had breakfast each morning in the courtyard inside which was delicious. Eggs make to order, potatoes and bacon with yogurt, fruit, variety of bakeries, nuts, meats and cheeses and juices. A great, relaxing start to the day at 12 euros per person. The location is exquisite-you walk right out the door and you are in old historical Sevilla with plenty of restaurants and the historical sights. We never wanted to leave this charming area but did take an hour carriage ride around Seville to see some new sights. Hotel Casa 1800 is outstanding for a variety of reasons: location, comfy rooms and great service. Why stay anywhere else.....this is THE place to stay in Seville. You won't be disappointed!
