Hotel Patio de las Cruces
Ranked #9 of 70 Seville B&B and Inns
Reviewed 27 October 2012

I arrived here in the midst of an extended trip to Spain, and although I have found almost the whole country friendly and accommodating, that was not the case here. Usually in a two star hotel something minor is wrong, but I can live with it; in this case, many minor problems added up to an unpleasant stay. This hotel apparently was an actual outdoor patio at some point, and the door to each room leads to this central patio area. The roof is positioned independently above the central patio, rather than attaching to/extending all the way to the edges of the outer walls. Because of this gap, I could not unlock the door to my room without walking up slippery steps and getting rained on. The room was extremely small- there was nowhere to move once I got my suitcase up the steps outside my door and into the room. There was no light bulb in the reading light. The television, or maybe it was the remote, did not work. The wifi didn’t work either, and “shrug, sometimes it doesn’t work, use our one desktop computer for everyone” isn’t good enough if you’ve advertised wifi. The sheets were clean, but they were so thin I poked a hole in them with my finger by accident. Two large cleaning carts were left in the middle of the hallway for more than 24 hours. A bright spot was that there was an elevator, but overall I was happy when my stay here was over.

Advisable to take a cab from train station (around 9€). Good location, minutes from alcazar, cathedral etc by foot. Plenty of food choices nearby.

Room- we had the room on the 2nd floor away from the street. Hence, not as noisy and shower was good with hot water. Lift is available as well. Wifi worked well. Good choice for a short stay.

It was the worst hotel out of 6 I stayed in during a 10-day trip. Which doesn't mean it was bad, but in a similar price range others were somehow better. My room was tiny, which is fine for a one night sleep, no TV, which is fine again, not that it was needed. A/C worked well, which is a plus. I was looking for bath towels for ages only to find them on a high shelf above the toilet, but then I regretted finding them as after wiping myself was coverd in fluff like a spring chicken. But the worst were ants, which got into everything, including sealed goodies from Italy ((((
No other complaints, good sleepover.

A very simple, clean hotel in the centre of the old town. Basic but surprisingly spacious room with bed, television and bathroom. Good wifi. No other facilities in the hotel but it does have a very pleasant central courtyard for sitting in.The hotel is difficult to find but worth the effort. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby, but for less touristy affairs it's not far to Triana and Centro. Only one power point in the room. The staff are very friendly and helpful but speak no English. Smiling helps! Only negative side is the noise in the small hours when the street cleaners do their best to wake everyone up.

Although I booked in June for a trip at the end of September, there was no record of our booking at the hotel. After much intake of breath we were shown to room 4. This is on the ground floor, has one small window that looks straight onto the inner courtyard, and is therefore curtained off, so there is no natural light at all. It reminded me of an inside cabin on a cross channel ferry, except that they are usually bigger! The room was clean, but the shower screen was broken and no plug for the wash basin. We were only there for one night, otherwise I would have been quite unhappy. The hotel has a terrace on the second floor, which was a pleasant place to have a drink after sightseeing, and the rooms on the first and second floors looked really nice, if small, which is what I had expected in a very old building of this type in Seville.
The Cathedral, other sights and many tapas bars are a few minutes away, as is an underground car park if you are coming by car. Down a passageway at the otherside of the small square there is a cafe that does a very good breakfast, that is recommended!
Seville is lovely and deserves more time than we gave it, so we will return to see more. I would happily stay at this hotel, but only if I could be sure of having a room that was not on the ground floor. However, at the end of the day, 56 euros for a hotel in this area is good value!

Room Tip: As above avoid rooms on the ground floor!

The hotel was perfectly located in the middle of Seville labyrinth of narrow and charming streets, close to eveyrthing you might want to enjoy in this dreamy city. The place was beautifully decorated, havin two interior Patios. We believe the property is of high quality, but we ended up in room less comfortable, due to the lack of natural light. The room was located at the ground floor, and the small window of the room looked exactly onto the interior Patio, letting veru little light inside. Secondly, the bathroom window also looked onto another interior patio. Not only you could here if anyone passed through the patio or sat down chatting on the couches in the patio, but you would also feel quite unsafe sleeping with the window open, even if the hotel was secure (there was always someone in the reception). We believe rooms situated at higher floors and looking over the Piaza Cruces are quite beautiful.
The hotel doesn't offer any breakfast.
The hosts will offer you quality advice for visiting Seville but there is not a memorable service. The hotel provides quite a good value for money.

Room Tip: Do ask for a room facing the Piaza Cruces, on an upper floor, if don't want to end up with a roo...

The hotel itself was average. It has a very authentic Spanish feel with the decor, but the rooms are very small and simple. The staff was accommodating but was not overly helpful. The best part is the location. It is on a beautiful little square with winding cobblestone alleys. It is walking distance to all of the attractions and is in my favorite part of the city - perfect for getting lost in. Overall it's a great value for the location.
