“Challenging”
Reviewed 23 May 2012 via mobile

The good: in the center of the action. Good service, attractive lobby and surroundings.
The bad: $34 per day parking. Challenging electronics in the room - 3 days and still couldn't understand the lighting. Small rooms. Square toilets (for round bottoms). Only available was a buffet far 20€.

Arrived by taxi to this lovely looking hotel, staff were very helpful, got to our room and yes the lighting is unusual but not that difficult to work out, and yes there is a flower smell (maybe Lillies) in the foyer but neither would put us off staying in this hotel, I think people are being a little pickie about these two things. Anyway loved the hotel, room was very clean and comfortable, breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: There are no views of anything specific a deluxe room with a king bed is perfect

A very good, comfortable hotel. It is well located and has excellent service (particularly concierge). When arriving in your room, allow a half hour to figure out all the toggle switches. There were 22 toggle switches in our room! I don't mean that it was a problem but I thought it was funny that they got so carried away with "hi-tech".
Had some problems with AC adjustments but would definitely return.

This hotel in the public spaces is really nice, the lobby is spectacular and the restaurant and bar are sufficiently nice. The service here was very good, the staff really has their eye on customer service. They did not go overboard with the "placing the hand over the heart" as I thought they would...just a few times, they are trained to do that once in awhile. Concierge was stellar. I have to say, however that the room I booked 'premium' was a bit disappointing. The size was deceivingly small, the furniture shown on the website at the time of booking was not present (website showed loveseat/couchette that wasn't present, just one armchair and side chair). Lighting and curtain track system seemed faulty and random as to whether it worked or not. This hotel is all white walls, and the scuff marks in the room made it appear shoddy. For the price, I had stayed 3 nights previous at the Ritz Carlton @ LA Live in Los Angeles, and that property made this property look like 3 stars in comparison. I realize it's not fair to compare markets that directly, but for $400usd a night, this hotel should have topped 4 stars and approached 5, however it did not. I would say a bit sterile....but I wasn't seeking "funky Spain boutique hotel vibe, either."

Room Tip: It's worth asking for the amount of square meters you get for comparison shopping. I am sure th...

Good hotel to stay at. Only because of their eagerness to be green, if no one is walking in the room, everything shuts off and one can not even charge the computer or iphone at night. concierge was very helpful since they were able to get us very close tickets to the last bullfight in Seville.

Room Tip: Room 516 is quiet.

We loved our penthouse room in this great hotel and having a jacuzzi on the spacious terrace really made it special. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we slept brilliantly although the other furniture in the room could be improved. Service was very helpful, they recommended some wonderful restaurants which really added to our stay and the location is just right. Thoroughly recommended

Room Tip: Room 701 has a fantastic corner terrace

Truly a grand hotel in a great location, not far from the Cathedral, between El Corte Ingles and the Via Reyes Catolicos which leads down to the river, and has several excellent places to eat.

I first stayed at the Colon in 1993, and have been since. A gem of a hotel. Not quite Claridges which I use in London, but very decent anyway.

Melia hotels are always good, but the Colon is a level above.Only downside is the Burladero restaurant, indeed frequented by bull fighters, is not within the reach of most travellers on price. In London one can have the Roux brothers or Gordon Ramsay for less. There are however several very good atmospheric local restaurants that are very good.

Room Tip: Higher floors very much a good idea
