I researched our trip to Seville and decided that most of the reviews here seemed to show this as a first class hotel, so I took the plunge and booked. We were not disappointed and if you can afford it, I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful 5 star hotel. It lived up to all our expectations from the moment we arrived. We stayed for a week and had booked a room with a balcony which over looked the pool. The staff were all wonderful and we never had a problem communicating in English. The hotel is like a palace; it was used to house the royal family's dignitaries attending the 1929 expo held in Seville. The decoration is stunning, tiles, chandeliers and friezes everywhere. Our room was modern, clean and large. I cannot fault the service we received and it was always given with a smile. The pool was such a bonus to come back to after a hot day walking around the beautiful city. Staff will move any lounger to any part of the pool and even put up a sun shade if needed. The cool gardens were also so pretty and relaxing to sit in. We had breakfast every day in the open air courtyard restaurant, such a joy and also had 3 evening meals there. This hotel is just first class and we loved every minute of our stay. It is also set in the very best location, we could walk to all the sightseeing attractions with ease.

Room Tip: We had a high level room at the back of the hotel. Despite the central location this is not a noisy...

We chose this hotel for a short stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I emailed ahead to request a table in the patio restaurant on the evening of our anniversary and to request a room with a balcony, if possible.

We have nothing negative to say about the whole experience. Our room (336) had a huge balcony with very comfortable outdoor furniture and a magnificent view of the cathedral. Our first night coincided with the last night of the Feria and we stood on our balcony at midnight, sipping the cava very kindly left in our room by the hotel management as an anniversary gift, watching the amazing firework display - a really magical experience.

The bed was extremely comfortable and we weren't disturbed by any noise throughout our stay. All of the staff were polite, helpful and spoke very good english. The food in the patio restaurant was excellent and all the staff, from the maitre d' to the wonderful sommelier and the waiters, were helpful and friendly without being obsequious.

The location of the hotel is pretty much perfect. As it was fairly hot weather during our stay we were able to make an early start and walk to all of the sights in the mornings, returning after lunch to laze by the pool in the afternoons, before heading out again in the evening - Seville is absolutely beautiful after dark.

Without reservation I would recommend this hotel. Yes, it isn't cheap, but we really felt it was worth every euro. We've stayed in more expensive hotels that haven't come close to the Alfonso XIII in terms of ambience, comfort, facilities and service.

Room Tip: Room 336 has a huge balcony with comfortable chairs and a great view of the cathedral. It's on...

From arrival to departure this is a superb hotel. Great quality, great food and great quiet rooms.

The only critique that is possible is with regards to service levels, the staff are very good and friendly professional but the speed of service is lacking. It was not unusual to sit for 6-8 minutes in the lounge area or in the bar/restaurant "Ena" before someone gave attention.

Room size is very good and also the bathrooms excellent.

Room Tip: Even the basic rooms are superb

We stayed here 3 nights after spending 5 nights in Barcelona; this hotel was rich with character and history and atmosphere was luxurious and restful. The pool area with outdoor restaurant was one of our favorite places after exploring the city each morning. Staff here was extremely attentive and courteous. Worth the expense for a once-in-a-lifetime trip!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking pool! There are inside rooms with no views but it's nice to be able...

Welcoming, friendly staff at reception (lots of staff!). Our car was wisked away to their garage (extra daily fee of 18E), we were assigned a room and escorted to it - all quite efficiently and pleasantly. My husband noted it was our anniversary and any consideration on upgrade would be appreciated, but no luck. Our room was nice enough, a bit on small side - on second floor overlooking parking area - but had everything we needed, except coffee! It included all the amenities one would expect of a luxury property - robes, slippers, pool towels, etc.). The lobby is just beautiful, and worth walking around, or enjoying a cup of tea or glass of wine. Lovely restaurant in middle, like sitting in a garden. Breakfast buffet served there for 25E a person which we didn't try but understand was quite nice.

While our stay was pleasant, this was to be the highlight hotel of our 3-week tour of Spain. Alas, it did not turn out quite that way. Great hotels at high prices engender great expectations. While beautiful, this hotel had faults. The biggest issue was noise - and surprisingly the biggest culprit was the maids on our floor. The staff service station was not that close to us - at least 10 rooms away but the din the maids made was a real surprise. They slammed the service door, rattled glasses, ran the ice machine, and chatted up a noisy storm - late into the night. One also opened our room door without even a preliminary knock to see if room was occupied. Maids also walked the halls in twos, loudly chatting. Never experienced this in any level hotel, much less a "luxury" one. Plus, we could hear everything through the walls - TVs, toilets flush, people talking and laughing/fighting - so sleep quality was diminished.

Disappointment #2 was the confusion over service hours in the lobby and outdoor restaurant, Ena. We were told and the signage indicated that their restaurant served all day. But that was not the case. It was actually closed during the afternoon and evening. The restaurant had only just reopened 3 days before so that may have caused confusion. After unsuccessfully trying to get a glass of wine in the early evening, we suggested to the manager that the signage be made more clear. We finally got a glass of wine but it was awful....not what you'd expect to be served at the Alfonso!

The pool is large and inviting and its restaurant seemed to be working just fine. It had just reopened as a Lebanese restaurant but we didn't have a chance to try it. Their wait staff seemed eager and friendly.

The location of the Alfonso is terrific. Just a few minutes from the amazing Cathedral, Seville's Alcazar and gardens, the bull ring, and other sites. The hotel staff is very helpful in providing maps, information, making reservations, etc. Seville is a wonderful walking city and turned out to be our favorite city overall.....if only the Alfonso could also have turned out our favorite hotel.

Room Tip: Stay away from Room 208 and those in that string to avoid the noisy mails and view of parking lot.

I stayed 3 nights in this wonderful hotel, Alfonso XIII in Sevilla. The environment and the hotel itself is beautiful, the breakfast very good. I also like the bottles of water that they put in your room each evening. It is a pitty that the staff of the hotel does not speak English very well. So if you would like a certain service, sometimes they do not understand it and therefore do not provide this service. And I also miss the welcome drink and petite cookies or chocolates that I normally receive in such hotels. But overall it was a pleasure to stay in this hotel!

An absolute peach of a hotel. Wonderful experience thanks to beautiful surroundings and the pleasant plus helpful staff and management.

First time in Seville for a romantic weekend away, will be back within the year!

Would highly recommend the amazing Sunday brunch...still stuffed having eaten like a king and being guided by the best maître-d and chefs. Would also recommend the pool, Seville is wonderfully hot in June but a gorgeous pool in the city centre cures a lot of ills :)

Thanks for the hospitality....see you again for FIBA world championships #Spain2014....maybe LeBron would stay in the king's hotel?

Room Tip: Away from the service area. We loved the courtyard views.
