“Good overall but needs some TLC!”
Reviewed 2 February 2014 via mobile

The hotel is modern and the staff good. No problems overall. Our bathroom had a very stained ceiling, paint peeling off, door handle to bathroom falling off, however, everything else was fine. Would probably use the place again as location is good and staff helpful

The great thing about NH hotels (in Spain, anyway) is that you know what you are going to get. The hotels are quite consistent from hotel to hotel. The rooms are always clean, the breakfasts are great, and the staff are friendly. This hotel is in a good location with access to the old city and all it offers. It is also right on the river and if you bring your running shoes there is a pathway along the river that is excellent running. Some evenings it seems that all of Sevilla is out there.

One item I like about this hotel is that my room had an inner door to help keep out hallway noise.

My only issue this visit, and it is a minor issue, is that some of the bathroom fixtures maybe in the latter half of their life. The sink did not drain properly because the drain control did not work. The shower drain cover was loose and could be removed (my foot slid it by accident), and the shower control to push water to the overhead shower head fell off several times. Again, not a big deal but annoying nonetheless.

Just returned from a great break in Seville in January, where we even managed to sunbathe on two of the days, it was so warm. We stayed in this NH hotel. It's a Spanish hotel chain which I've used before, and usually I have really liked them. The NH hotel in Bruges, for example, is fantastic (see separate review), and I really like the fruity toiletries they provide (literally fruity - you will come out of the shower smelling of oranges, but it's all good!) We didn't dislike this hotel exactly, but it struck us how grey and clinical everything seemed to be. All the surfaces seemed to be hard, and there were very few splashes of colour, or even pictures on the wall. Just one picture in our room would have made all the difference, I think, but it was just bare walls. Having said that, everything was very clean, the rooms were relatively spacious (not huge, though) and the bathrooms were nice, including a bidet, which is always a fun challenge for an English person. I was actually daring enough to have a go on one for the first time, so I can tick off another one of my lifetime achievements. Is that too much information? Sorry! ;-)

Generally this felt like a business hotel, but it is in a really good location for tourism too. It's very close to the Plaza de Armas bus station, where the airport bus terminates, and is halfway between the Cathedral area, where the main sights are located, and the Alameda de Hercules, which is one of the best places for bars and restaurants at night. Either way is a pleasant 15-20 minute walk. The Fine Arts museum (Museo de Bellas Artes) is also close, just a 5 or 10 minute walk away. The Plaza de Armas itself is looking a little tired but there is a shopping centre right next to it which is interesting to walk around, with a supermarket on the basement level - very handy if you need to stock up on essentials. I would also recommend the Jamaica cafe (opposite Mcdonalds) in the shopping centre for breakfast or brunch if you are on a room only tariff. A coffee and a snack each will cost you less than 10 euros. Actually the breakfast in the hotel was perfectly ok, although I don't quite understand why it has got such rave reviews on here. There is a reasonable amount of choice, but I didn't think it was that special. Nice serrano ham, though. Cooked breakfasts can be made to order, but we didn't bother. We paid 8 euros each by booking ahead.

We moved rooms because we found the room on the street side quite noisy, with cleaning wagons arriving in the dead of night. The other side, facing the Plaza, was much quieter but also seemed to be hotter. The aircon was efficient so that wasn't an issue, but it might be in summer. One other thing to mention is the beds, which were a bit like hospital beds, on a metal wheeled gurney. In the first bedroom it kept moving around every time you turned over, which was rather disconcerting! In the new bedroom we did not have any problems.

All in all this is a good choice, and for the £55 or so we paid per night for the room, good value. But I would not especially recommend it for a special romantic break. It just isn't that kind of place. Find somewhere more olde worlde and perhaps more typically Spanish instead. For a business trip, search no further.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Plaza de Armas are quieter, but seemed hotter.

Overall pleased with our stay. Hotel is located in a great location and within walking distance to the main shopping area and bus station. The rooms were nice and clean. Staff was helpful and very friendly. My only complaint is that the WiFi was pretty terrible. It only worked about 25% of the time and when it did work it was very slow.

Very well located hotel with a large car park next door. The hotel is modern, rooms are comfortable, great rainshower. The buffet breakfast is excellent, not the typical low quality buffet breakfast served in most Spanish hotels. The staff was also very polite and helpful - again, this is not common in Spain. I mean Spanish hoteliers are not rude, they just make it a bit deal to welcome you - here was different, they were really happy to welcome me and very helpful with luggage, the car park and directions to the historical city centre. I really enjoyed my stay.

It's a very good hotel for business men or couples. Quite expensive, as any NH, but it's worth the expense. Next time I go to Seville for work I'll try to sleep in this hotel again. Nice rooms, very close to car parking and very very close to the city center.

a well located hotel in the center of Sevilla. The staff are gentle. Prices are OK for such a quality. It is in a walking distance to most of the activities. I'm sure in spring and automn walking will be much nicer along the river....
