I stayed here a few weeks back and found it to be outstanding. The service, rooms , the pool....
everything was great.
Seville is fantastic and the hotel location is perfect. Very close to the churches and the history of the Roman Empire is very evident.
The staff are very friendly and happy to help at anytime. I live in London and the hotels here are poor in terms of service and design. We will definitely return to this lovely, hotel.

This was really not up to the standard of a 4 star hotel if that is what you are expecting. It's rare that I think so badly of a place. The resounding rudeness of the staff was the most prevalent negative. On check in and at later points, I would stand at the reception counter, where there were no other customers to serve, and the two receptionists would flatly ignore me to talk between themselves without acknowledging that I was awaiting their attendance. I lost my credit card on holiday and they refused to check whether a card had been handed into a lost property. When asked any questions about the hotel's facilities they were particularly obtrusive. The hotel itself is 25-30 mins walk from the cathedral, but there are some buses that get you there easily. We were a group of three and they gave us an incredibly small room to accommodated the number of people. The cleaners did not change our towels when the room was tidied. The pool is only open from 12:00 - 20:00, which is a rather short time given the long hot summer days, it also has a very limited pool bar that only serves beer and crisps (chips). One of the girls in my party ordered from the hotel at lunch and was only able to stomach a few bits of her burger it was that below par; although she did say the salad was adequate. We were located on the 3rd floor and one of the lifts would not allow you to select 3. On the plus side, the bed itself was comfortable and there were a healthy number of sun loungers in the pool area, and the pool itself is large enough to have a healthy swim. All in all if you are expecting a four-star experience, which this place purports to be, then you had better look elsewhere.

TRYP Macarena Hotel review after a 5 night stay. The hotel presents dated yet nice and quaint with reasonable sized rooms and bathrooms. Reception staff were unfriendly upon check-in, speak little English and very slow. Sadly the disappointment didn't stop there.
Firstly the side tables in the rooms have glass tops that are not fixed on and therefore had to be removed due to our almost 1 year old holding on to them. A major draw card for this hotel was the spectacular pool and rooftop terrace images. It is very disappointing that there are limited numbers of sun lounges, only beer available at the rooftop bar and strict opening hours of midday to 8pm. As Seville is a city that comes alive in the evening it would have been lovely to spend the mornings by the pool and even have a cocktail or wine at sunset on the terrace. The breakfast buffet is ok with the expected food options, room service speak little English and didn't bring one of our meals. On our last night due to tiredness and as to have a highchair to enable our baby to eat dinner herself we went to the restaurant. We were not offered the ala carte menu and directed towards the buffet. The food was bland, untraditional and basically consisted of cheese, poor quality meat options, salad, fruit and bread that with a bottle of water we were billed 56.80 euro... We could have enjoyed an amazing evening in any local bar or restaurant for less.
The air conditioner in our room was very poor and being unable to open the window for long periods due to traffic noise made it difficult to sleep, not to mention the paper thin walls especially with noisy neighbours!
All in all it is a great location and we have enjoyed our time in Sevilla but will not be recommending this hotel to anyone! Very sad ending to our holiday!

Stayed a few nights here and as ever with hotels at this price there are good things and not so good things, but generally the good win through.

I liked the location. Great for getting about and it's outside the touristy part of the city (about a 20 min walk) so you see more of the real Seville. A short walk from the hotel entrance to a variety of bus stops, including the open top tour one and very well place for great local tapas bars and traditional cafes.

The rooms are ok and slightly old fashioned, although when it's hot they can be a bit stuffy; my room's air conditioning was working pretty much all the time and just about coping. The fuses tripped a few times during my stay and I got the impression that it was a routine event - clearly overload on the circuit - which might lead one to conclude the whole hotel needs an update, from the electrics to the decor.

I didn't use the bar or restaurant - no need when there are so many local places nearby as I came to see Seville not the Tryp Macarana. I did, however, use the roof top pool which was good but beware there is the usual scrum for sunbeds and territory protection which makes finding shade or a bit of space very difficult. It was difficult to put a chair down anywhere given the limited area around the pool, so you need to time your roof top use wisely - don't just go up there and assume there will be space. The pool itself was fine in terms of size (it's an L shape), depth and access. Views are great if you can get a decent spot to sit!

One of the main drawbacks to the hotel, which is probably related to the increasingly pressing need for a refurb, is the noise between adjacent rooms; conversations and moving around do carry through the walls.

So, I thought it was ok - but I came to see Seville and used it to sleep and swim.

Room Tip: Ask if the ones next to it are occupied!!

This is a large, old ‘grand’ hotel, and as such the décor is quite dated, however, the hotel is clean.

Checking in for our tour group (Leger Holidays) was smooth and quick, so we were up to our rooms within 10 minutes.

We had a room on the 4th floor, a fairly small double, but ok for just the couple of nights we were there.
As far as I know the lower floor rooms had small Juliet balconies, ours didn’t.
There is just enough room to set out two large suitcases, and a reasonable sized wardrobe.
In general the room was a little worn.

The room has a minibar, a free electronic safe a TV and a couple of chairs.
The bathroom was also quite small, with minimal toiletries in dispensers (shower gel and shampoo).

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but dropped off constantly in our room and wasn’t strong at all on the rooftop pool.
The dining room and reception have the best signal.

The pool is large for a rooftop pool, and during our stay was very busy.
The terrace and bar are on a split level below the pool with only chairs and no sun loungers, which was disappointing as there aren’t enough loungers for the space available.
Towels are available from the bar at the pool.

A small beer at the pool costs 2 euros.

For this size of hotel it seems strange that there is no gym.

Breakfast selection was a good variety and the quality ok.
There are the usual buffet options including cold meats, cheeses, juices, yoghurt, hot selections, fruit and pastries.
There are a couple of good toasting machines, and tea and coffee are served at the tables.

Diner was also a good variety, though the quality wasn’t great.
There was Paella, Chicken, and Beef – see photos.
Drinks can be ordered at the table, a small beer cost 2.60 Euro.

Though the staff at the hotel were generally good, one of the maître d at diner was quite ignorant and couldn’t raise a smile!

The hotel is a 30 minute brisk walk to the Cathedral, or 5 minutes in a taxi for between 7 to 9 Euros.

A good value hotel just out of the centre!

Room Tip: Lower than the 4th floor, and you should get a Juliet Balcony

We have just returned from 5 nights at the Tryp hotel. Hotel was great value, lovely roof top
Pool with great views. Rooms were very clean and a good size. Staff were friendly although check in at reception was quite slow.
The location of the hotel is great, 20 minute walk to cathedral. It's away from the main tourist area of the city so it's cheaper to eat out. Lots of good restaurants in the local area-highly recommend Rosita's. Opposite the Macarena church is a fantastic churros stand-a must for breakfast!
Ferra market is worth a visit and there are lots of good restaurants on Alameda de
Herculas - nikkei was particularly good.

Good value hotel that caters for the tourists needs. Premium room and breakfast were very adequate. Pool with views good although it can get crowded.
Forget about the 'a la carte' menu meal in the restaurant - the service was very poor as you mix in with the majority having buffets.
Beware that the baths are narrow with a curved base. My wife has balance problems and without grab rails found having a shower very precarious. Apparently there are few rooms with walk in showers/ disabled facilities.
Location is OK. Once you understand the bus routes most places are easily accessible. BUT there is precious little written information, especially in English to help you. The desk was generally helpful but in many cases their English not very good and this is a big hotel so they were pretty busy most times.
