very good: great location, very clean, comfortable (minus the twin beds), great restaurant staff who cooked up a dinner for us late one evening. Some of the staff were great, namely Jesus, Jose Antonio, and especially "Rafa"

very bad: a couple of individuals at the front desk staff were very rude. As I was fumbling through my purse to get a document out a woman standing in front of me at the front desk was tapping her pencil loudly...A nightmare to drive a car to the hotel. DON'T USE GPS. Only made us drive in circles. Think hard before you drive a rental car into Seville. The streets are impossible. Hotel was extremely difficult to find. Take the high speed train from Madrid instead...and get a cab at the train station

not the greatest: This is considered a 4 star hotel. We were given a room with 2 twin beds placed next to each other, and during the night they started moving away and I almost fell down between them a couple of times. The room had a safe and I was informed that it would cost 10 euros per day to use it - outrageous. Odd that a 4 star hotel did not have wifi in the rooms

The outside walkways are dangerous in rainy weather as the chances of a slip on the slick marble are quite high. At night the sound of rainwater gurgling down the gutters sounds as if the water is coming down in your room or in your bathroom!
On the other hand all the Staff were very kind and helpful. The breads at breakfast were delicious and all in all a very pleasant place to stay.
For a meal out...try "Contenidor" resto on the nearby Calle San Luis number 50. Wonderful slow cooking which is well worth booking up for, as it gets very full after 8:30pm when it opens.

What a lovely hotel. Set in the narrow streets of seville. Took a while to find due to one way systems. Staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and spacious. Within walking distance of main attractions. 15-20mins. Lots of lovely authentic bars and restaurants near by. Weather was fab. Fab city. Also spent day in Cordoba another beautiful place to visit. Highly reccomend seville for 4 day visit. There is plenty to do and see.
I would suggest visiting the cathedral, alcarzar, espanol plaza and see at least one flamenco. Fab dancing.
The only thing against the hotel was they closed the bar prior to midnight.

We really enjoyed visiting Seville. The hotel could have been better, though. It is situated a couple of blocks from the main road, and whether you're trekking there from a bus stop or driving up with a car, you're in for a slight challenge in finding it and unloading your vehicle without blocking the single lane for traffic. We knew it was not in the most popular tourist area, but there was plenty to see and do nearby (great little flamenco bar "La Caja Negra", best stretch of the Old City Wall, Jazz bar called "Naima Cafe Jazz", and the Alameda de Hercules, to name a few).
The room was comfortable, but quite noisy. We stayed on the third floor, and could hear the family in the next room, and pretty much anyone talking as they walked through the courtyard late at night. Fortunately, we packed earplugs.
We grabbed a bus when heading down to the main part of town, and never had to wait more than 2 minutes. Either we were very lucky, or they have quite an extensive collection of busses in the city. Probably would not stay there again, but for the right price who knows.

This was a great find (but we do not think you can find it without a GPS). The staff on check in were great. Perfect English and walked us to the car park too.Recommended super restaurants on both nights within easy walking distance as well as directions to the historic part of town only 15 to 20 min. away.We needed an urgent courier service to Madrid and the staff, again, were great and organised everything for us.
Room was great, large and comfortable. Only draw back was the noise from the toilet above was "amplified"..
The drawbacks were the internet (lousy) and the restaurant (minus zero atmosphere).

Room Tip: Room 106 has the toilet above

Stayed in Seville for 3 nights at the San Gil whilst running the marathon, found it to be perfectly placed for start and finish of race. Rooms were very clean, staff polite and helpful and prices were very good for the quality you received

The San Gil Hotel is in the Macarena district of Seville, which is a fascinating area to explore, with the old city walls close by with the old city entrance, as well as an amazing local church worth a look in, and a tapas bar opposite ('Bar Plata') which is 100 years old with an amazing tiled fresco wall inside showing how this part of the city looked in the past.(see photos) We loved being in this area and it was easy to get a bus into the city from the main road just by where the old city entrance is - bus no. 30.
The hotel was fine; we were in a room facing the courtyard with a long glass window so it felt almost as if we were in a garden room when we pulled open the long curtain. lovely if you like to see trees outside the window. The birds are a bit noisy and leave a lot of mess on the middle courtyard which we noticed was washed down daily because of this and therefore could be slippery underfoot - there had been rubber grip- strips at one time on the sloping steps but had been worn down and needed replacing. Not great if you are elderly I should think. We enjoyed our stay however and it was excellent value for money and size of room for what we paid. If you like a hotel which feels authentic ( beautiful tiling in reception) and not too big then this is a good choice. The breakfast was ok though the cooked scrambled eggs were 'topped up' every hour or so and the cold left underneath instead of emptied which meant the newly cooked batch didn't stay hot for long. However there was a good range of things to eat for breakfast and fresh orange juice. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. If you stay here do check out that tapas bar and if hot drinks are more your thing there is a hot chocolate stand near it for the traditional local drink with Spanish style donuts to dip in.

Room Tip: Those facing the courtyard were more traditional in style and a good size.
