King Alfonso XIII gave the land where the present park is located to the City of Seville in 1911. Juan Talavera is the architect who designed the park. In 1918 it was dedicated to the painter Bartolome Esteban Murillo, a famous native son of Seville who reached the pinnacle of art with his paintings. This is a very nice park to walk in and relax in the center of the city.
