We stayed at the Hotel Abanico in mid June this year. The Hotel was centrally located within easy walking distance to all the sites. The room was clean, and quiet at night. The staff was accomnodating. We found that Sergio was very helpful in providing suggestions and directions. The breakfast had typical items you would find in a European Hotel, and had the added bonus of offering Tea and Coffee all day in the lobby (which is very comfortable). You have to be a little careful when stepping out of the Hotel (the road is about a foot away!) Internet access was very good relative to other hotels we stayed at in Spain. Of the six places we stayed in June in Spain and Portugal this hotel offered the greatest value.

If you want an ideal location, helpful and friendly staff, clean functional rooms,a decent breakfast, all at a very reasonable rate - stay here. We had three nights at the Abianco in late June and could not fault it.

It is certainly not appealing externally, giving no hint of the charming central atrium around which the two floors of rooms are arranged. Make sure that you look left before stepping out of the front door - you'll see what I mean immediately if you go there. The air con is off during the day but was on all night whilst I was staying. The wifi worked very well in my room on the 2nd floor rear of the hotel. Tourist attractions, shops, top tapas bars and restaurants are all within easy walking distance.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rear avoids traffic noise likely to occur at the front. There's no view however as the...

Lovely interior patio/courtyard, nicely-decorated rooms, coffee available all day, fantastic location next to nice tapas bars and 10 minutes' walk at most from the more crowded cathedral/Alcazar area. Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed for 2 nights then returned a week later and had same impressions.

Room Tip: Room 11 is a good choice if you need 2 beds

We stayed here three nights. We left one night to go to a party so we had two different rooms.

All the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast.

Very charming old hotel. Nice entry area.

Many places to eat just minutes away at Plaza Alfalfa. There is a grocery store there too.

We walked to most sites from there. We even walked to the train station.

Room Tip: Our first room was small, but manageable. Second room a bit larger. Each on different ends of the...

Only stayed here one night and had to leave early the next morning for the airport - so we didn't have the breakfast.

Don't let the outside of the building put you off - when you enter the hotel you are a world away in a classic Sevillian patio house. The reception area has free wifi, coffee and water. Staff at the desk were very friendly and organised a taxi for us very early the next morning with no fuss. Our room was 007, towards the back of the building. Entering the room, it has a small lobby space with a desk and the door to the bathroom. The room was up four marble steps from here (so it would be a problem for those with mobility issues). Quite dark because it looked out on to the street and the shutters were closed, but it was large, with a high ceiling and two very comfortable single beds pushed together. It had a large, clean and very nice bathroom.

There was some street noise (we stayed on a Saturday night) but nothing too bad. Good value and highly recommended if you want a taste of Old Seville.

Room Tip: Some rooms are noisier than others. If you are a light sleeper, do ask for a quieter room when booki...

The hotel is ok, but certainly not excellent. The staff is not very friendly, but not unfriendly either (well, maybe except of the night auditor, which I never saw smiling. It is not dirty, but still doesn't feel very clean. The patio is lovely, the rooms are ok, but rather small, especially the bathroom. The doors are not very well isolated, so you hear what's going on on the corridor rather well. Location, however, is excellent.

We stayed in Hotel Abanico during Holy Week (Semana Santa) which was a really interesting experience as we had no idea what it was like before we came. The hotel is in a very narrow street and from the outside it does not look very appealing but once inside it is totally different. The reception area is in a covered courtyard with plenty of easy chairs to sit in. There are lots of pots of geraniums attached to the various balconies which was very colourful. The breakfast area is quite small but adequate and there is free tea, coffee and biscuits provided all day which is a very nice touch (along with an orange liquer). The bedrooms are all quite different . Ours was at the back of the hotel and was well furnished with a large bathroom. Our friends had a room at the front and their bathroom was very small. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Location is very good - very central to all the sites. Good fun wandering through the labyrinth of streets. On our first night we actually got lost getting back to the hotel due to the processions which were happening all week. That particular procession went right past our hotel and when we finally made it back through the crowds of people we were able to stand on our friends' balcony and have a bird's eye view which was amazing! Some of the processions went on all night so we were glad our room was at the back. If you like hotels with character which are a little bit different then I would definitely recommend staying here and don't be put off from the exterior appearance. After a busy day sightseeing it was lovely to escape from the crowds into the very peaceful oasis of the Abanico's courtyard. There are also lots of great little bars and restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back would be quieter.
