“Modern Novotel Style”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2009

You won't pick up any feelings of traditional Seville when staying in this hotel, it's typically Novotel based on their style. If you want tradition, then stay elsewhere.

But if you want modern decor, comfortable rooms and a restaurant with great food, then this maybe on your list.

The rooms are typical Novotel, large and comfortable. There are many floors but there is at least 3 lifts to get you up onto the higher floors.

The location is the only issue some people might have. It's about a 10-15 minute walk into the old city/new city, but it can be a bit longer in the searing heat! But no worries, the bus stop is right outside the hotel and this can bring you into the city for €1.20, rate is at time of writing this review. But for the ease of just exiting your hotel and being in the old city with its narrow streets and tapas bars, then this is the only place where this hotel falls short.

Next door is Seville FC's home ground, if you want to pick up a football shirt in the shop or attend a game! Also around the other corner is a modern shopping complex, with a supermarket. There are some restaurants and cafe's just outside the hotel too. If you're getting the bus from the airport, then it drops you off on the road intersecting this avenue. Just watch out for the Nervion Shopping Plaza, that will be your stop.

The restaurant is run by a separate group and the food was wonderful, but you may pay a bit more for it.

I'd no real problems with the hotel, although some of the many staff at reception were not as amiable or chatty as maybe staff at smaller establishments, but this is par for the course.

As a previous reviewer said, this hotel upholds the good standards we have also come to expect from the Novotel chain.
Rooms are large, with powerful airconditioning and enough storage - all essential when sharing with two young children. The hotel goes out of it's way to make families feel welcome with children able to stay and eat breakfast for free. It excels in other facilities as well with the rooftop pool perfect to cool down from sight seeing and the free in-room wifi an added bonus (on which I am typing this review)
We chose the hotel to be near family so proximity to central Sevilla was not priority. The hotel is a 20-30 minute walk from the centre but this is a fair distance in 40° summer temperatures. Still, the hotel is well served by cheap public transport, a safe bicycle route and is surrounded by plenty of good shops, bars and restaurants.
As with all Novotels breakfast is pricey but there are plenty of alternative local options.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend unless the length of your break dictates that you should be more centrally placed to fully enjoy this beautiful city.

The rate was excellent (although I has reserved back in February and paid in advance). Walking distance (1.3 km) to the Cathedral and Barrio Santa Cruz. Great room for a family of 4. Excellent, efficient service as always in Novotels. Bonus: hotel has free Wi-Fi, kids were happy.

After reading the reviews prior to booking this hotel, I was a little concerned as to whether this would be appropriate or not, as although we did have a car (we drove from Portugal), we would also have our 3 year old with us. Anyway, I was really pleased with the hotel. We had a family room, with a large double bed and a single sofa bed. There was plenty of storage space and also space for my son to play on the floor with his toys as well. The bathroom was fine, with shower over the bath, also good for kids. There were various TV channels, something for all languages I think. There was a small fridge with the usual items, although these were quite expensive, we did use the fridge also for our own water. There was a safe in the room also. The air conditioning worked fine and was quiet, and there were plenty of power outlets.

The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The last morning the hotel was really full, and I think they underestimated the amount of staff needed for breakfast that day, and so breakfast service was a little poor - running out of all the hot items, milk, coffee, juice, over the busiest period. All this was replaced in about 15 minutes, but if you were in a hurry, this may have been annoying. Besides that, the breakfast was very nice and had a good variety.

The hotel is not as far from town as people made out to be, it is less than 1.5km. I guess it depends on your willingness to walk, or if you enjoy walking. Right next to the hotel there is plenty of shopping, with a large shopping centre jusst around the corner, and about two blocks further along is El Corte Ingles. in the shopping centre around the corner, in the courtyard in the middle they had an area for kids, with trampolines (with safety harnesses) which was really cool, and €3 or similar. In this shopping centre is also McDonalds, TGI Friday's, Starbucks, Jamaica Coffee and 4 or 5 other eateries. Perfect for any "fussy" young eaters who might not be used to European food...? There is also a park and garden about 500 metres up the road, with swings and slides and a small climbing wall, etc.

There are a few restaurants around the hotel, over three or four blocks, but not really a huge choice. We walked quite a bit all three nights, and then the last night we ate in a tapas bar right next to the hotel - very good, but service was a little slow. In town, there are literally hundreds of restaurants, you'll have trouble choosing.

The reason for our trip was mainly to take our son to Isla Magica, and it was great. It is very close to the city, we drove, but you can easily catch a bus or take a taxi, it is about 5km from the hotel. There are bus stops and taxi stands right outside the hotel.

We also took a bus city tour but as our son fell asleep (!) we didn't do the hop on/hop off part, but just stayed on the whole trip. The round trip takes about an hour. It was really good too.

Seville is a beautiful city, and worth visiting. Probably not the best idea in the peak of summer, though, as it is really hot and will be full of people.

We stayed for two nights at this modern business-oriented hotel. It was during Feria de Abril, and we got a pretty good rate given the inflated hotel prices during this specific week. Our room was a standard contemporary design with all the essentials. The staff were generally friendly and English-proficient (probably because of the hotel's business orientation). The hotel is located in a financial and commercial section of the city, and there is a mall shopping center right behind it. The METRO is only a block away, and you can also take a bus right outside to the old quarter of Seville. The underground parking garage is spacious.

One issue is that there don't seem to be a lot of good restaurants in the area, although there are several nearby bars. The hotel has a restaurant (which we didn't try), and we were able to find a good restaurant a few blocks from the hotel. Also, if driving, make sure you have very specific directions. Although the hotel is on a major artery and should not be hard to find, we got thoroughly messed up trying to follow the directions received from the hotel. It would be helpful to have a detailed map of Seville before you go there.

This is a fine hotel very clean and with at good swimmingpool on the top floor. Good parking facility in the basement. We can absolutely recommend it. The gym is not worth to visit, very small and with only 3 machines and some free hand weigths. We didn't take the breakfast on the hotel - you can find good breakfast in many coffee shops on the streets. The walk to the old town takes about 10-15 min. (1,5 - 2,0 km). A better suggestion is to hire a bike, you can rent them on street corners in a automate, and bike to an other part of the city and leave the bike there. It is cheap and a very good way to see the city.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while touring in Spain. We did not have reservations, so it was a "walk in". The hotel has a nice lobby, and the room was spacious and comfortable. But the price...And they charge you for EVERYTHING...The location is a little far from the city center, but there is a bus right outside the front door. The staff was helpful, and spoke English. There are a few restaurants, and shops in the area.
