“Living in a Hacienda”

MY daughter checked around and booked this wonderful hotel. The hotel staff are very helpful which made for such a pleasant stay . The room rate is reasonable, they are large and clean. The location is an easy walk to major tourist sights and the nearby restaurants offer good food at reasonable prices. WIFI is free.

We have just returned from a five night stay at the Patio de la Alameda. While there were certainly some strong points, I would not return to this hotel on my next visit to Seville. The hotel offers only apartments with a large living room containing a foldout sofa bed, bedroom with two single beds, and bath, and a good size kitchen (not particularly well equipped). This is very pleasant. There were four of us in our party, and I booked- so I thought- two apartments, one for my wife and me, and the other for my brother and his wife. When I picked up my travel vouchers from my travel agent, however, I discovered that through a misunderstanding I had booked and prepaid one apartment for occupancy by four persons. This is not necessarily the fault of the hotel, but the reason it happened in the first place is that the price for occupancy by four persons in one apartment is virtually the same as the price for two separate apartments for double occupancy. Consequently I did not catch the mistake by looking at the amount of the total bill the first time around. I felt it represented very poor value a night to pay close to 200 Euros a night for a unit shared by four people, two of whom would have to sleep on a sofa bed. The sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the bedding was not very good either. Surprisingly, the single beds in the bedroom were no improvement- hard as a rock! So all of us slept very poorly the whole time we were there and spent a lot of time sleepwalking through Seville. There were some other problems as well, such a room key that barely worked- we had to call the desk clerk on a couple of occasions just to get into the room.
On the plus side, the layout of the hotel is very attractive, with the rooms laid out over several orange-painted patios with attractive tiling and potted plants everywhere. (Alas, you do hear people very loudly coming into their rooms and climbing the stairs as it echoes against the plaster- we were awakened a couple of times at 4 in the morning by people who were undoubtedly leaving for the same early morning flight we had to take back to Amsterdam. )Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is quite limited and there is no frshe orange juice, which is a big omission in Andalusia, but it is at least not that costly for a hotel. The parking garage (16 Euros a day) is entered from the street at the back of the hotel and was very convenient, although it is an utter nightmare getting there by car, one-way streets wherever you turn. The Plaza Alameda de Hercules, on which the hotel faces, is a bit far from the center of town, but it was an enjoyable neighborhood, a bit scruffy, not very touristy at all, with lots of young Spanish people hitting the cafes at night. We had one of the best meals I've had in Spain recently at restaurant Az-Zait, located on Plaza San Lorenzo, just of the southern end of the long narrow Alameda de Hercules. We had a beautifully served four course chef's surprise menu for just under 30 Euros per person, a great value. But next time we go to Seville, we will stay closer to the center, and make sure we have a comfortable bed!

yes, the place is big and four people can stay in it as the couch in the living room converts to a bed. we were checked into a room on the first floor (room 5RB) if i recall. first, i realized that it was pitch dark, all the rooms in this place, except one, open to a patio which gets minimal amounts of light. then i also noticed that there was foul odor. when i asked the receptionist to come by and see what exactly was going on, he told me that some rooms had that issue but our only other option would be to change to a room where there was construction noise all day because it shared a wall with the adjacant buidling undergoing renovation!!! we chose the second room. i asked them nicely if i could be refunded if we moved to a different hotel and they said no!! nonetheless, we left for one night and ended up paying for two rooms that night. i do NOT recommend this place at all. you can do much better and even cheaper with better location.

Bedroom and living room is extremely big. It feels very homey, just like staying in a spanish house except is a hotel. The receptionist is extremely helpful. Free wifi.

The location is about 10 minutes walk to the major tourist area/attractions. Its in front of place alameda de hercules which is pretty stinky and usually have lots of dogs. Live concerts are held in weekends when we were there and runs really late till 2-3am. I think they have it every weekend since all the locals seems to hang out there. Around the hotels have lots of restaurants, cheaper than the main tourist area but most only speak Spanish.

Overall I enjoy my stay at this hotel for budget travel and people that love to be with the locals.

What a lovely surprise! Our friends booked this hotel for us at a travel agent in Cordoba...so we went blind.
We expected a basic hotel and got a lovely one bedroom apartment that was spotless AND had character. The front desk help were awesome -- friendly and knowledgeable! And, what a fabulous location. We arrived late, dropped off our bags and were able to walk in the square, take a lovely meal and glass of wine right in the neighborhood. We loved it and would return in a flash!

Stayed here for a Saturday night and was hoping for a clean smart hotel which would be a reasonable place to sleep in and expected nothing more.

It was and there was a lot more, in particular the extremely warm welcome we were given by the receptionist. In all our years of travelling he was just the most friendly and helpful we have ever come across and the other staff we encountered during our short stay were just the same. Ten out of ten!

Check-in was painless and then he spent time going through a giveaway magazine which featured Sevilla's attractions, pointing them out on the map, telling us some good places to go etc and all this was volunteered not solicited and he made us feel really special.

Rooms were very nice, with sitting rooms and kitchen, bedroom and good bathroom. Good heating and I imagine air con. Hot water was plentiful. All the rooms were located around a couple of really lovely internal patios. If coming by car the garage is situated in the street behind the entrance to the hotel and is a little tight, but you leave your car key with the reception in case they want to shuffle the cars around in there if they have to.

The location is up and coming as the area has all been remodelled recently and is nearing the end of those works by the look of it. It is very reminiscent of the Born district of Barcelona, very Bohemian and with a lot of trendy bars and restaurants around. Nightlife will go on till the early hours but inside the hotel you could have heard a pin drop thanks to several internal doors before you get to the patio area where the rooms are.

It's just a ten minute walk to Sierpes the shopping area and a further ten minutes (or two hours depending on your partner!) to the cathedral and buses run regularly too but for me Sevilla is a walking city with something interesting on every corner. Sunday morning late November was bright sunny and warm and we walked along the Guadalquivir from the Torre de Oro along to opposite Isla Cartuja and saw people jogging, cycling, kayaking, reading, fishing and sunbathing along the way. From there it's just five minutes back to Alameda de Hercules and the nicest place we have stayed in the best place in Spain.

A great little hotel, unusual in the courtyard layout but interesting and well cared for.
Plus points, friendly and helpfull management and very clean and comfortable.
Minus point, Usless breakfast, can a hotel in Seville really not have fresh orange juice or any marmalade!!! Also the hotel is in a young streetlife area which feels great to be out in the evening but can be somewhat noisy at 3 or 4 in the morning.
