Owner description: Flamenco project Flamenco Esencia is hosted by bar T de Triana, along the river guadalquivir. Esencia is a project by flamenco artists themselves, because they want to bring authentic and spontaneous flamenco to the public. The kind that you hope to see on the streets yet only exists in gypsy houses. Part of the venue is closes of with curtains, to create a living-room like space, where only 34 peolpe fit in. Four internationally renowned artists will perform, and while they perform explain some things about the art and its history. You can ask questions too, the artists are all very esasy to talk too. If you would like to have some tapas, that is possible before and after the show, since it is too small to put tables in, and we really want to create an atmosphere where everybody is experiencing flamenco to the fullest. We always open on fridays and sundays, but if you are with a group of at least 10, we can open at any day and any time for you. Just get in touch by email of phone.

Starter:
Lovely bodega (with bus service!), intimate setting, good tapas and a good mix of local people and other flamenco lovers

Main course:
Top notch performance. You could feel the energy and the passion coming from the singer, guitarist and dancers. This was a truely authentic flamenco performance.

Dessert:
Fin de fiesta, where the artists danced and sang together with the guests and everyone who felt like dancing could do so!

Aproveche! Enjoy!

Have just had a Wonderful evening at this venue, picked up on time as arranged with Maria who is not only a great host but also a great dancer.
We were so lucky to see three great dancers perform heart rendering flamenco along with a fantastic singer and guitarist.
The tapas was really enjoyable, the wine flowed and the atmosphere electric.
This trip is well worth doing, its not a tourist trap just good authentic flamenco performed from the heart in a great venue.
Many thanks to Maria and her excellent team.

I am hesitating to write this review as it may expose this local gem to too many tourists, but I must. I am not a Flamenco expert, being to only 3 shows in my life, but I certainly enjoy a good one, and a good one this was as it was also evident by the enthusiastic reaction of the locals. We were the only 2 tourists in the audience of about 25 people or so. The owner, Maria, who picked us up from town (about 20 minute drive to the “village” or suburb as we call it, was very cheerful and enthusiastic to tell us about her dancing experience and travels. So the good time started already on the way there.
The venue is an old wine cellar converted to a local bar with the theatre in the back. A small staff served us drinks and prepared the tapas and “plata de dia”, quite tasty. While we waited for the show to start, Maria sat with us and gave us a very interesting explanation of the history of flamenco.
On to the show! My understanding is that every show has different artists, so your experience may be different. However, the trio - guitar player, singer and dancer of this show were amazing. They poured their hearts out (as in good flamenco songs and dances) and you could see their pain on their faces as they performed.
The other surprise was after the show. The dancer changed out of her costume, and the three of them set in a circle with the guests and continued in a free format singing and dancing with audience participation. This is an experience you will not get in a “normal” show.
So please go and enjoy it, but please do not tell anyone else .

A wonderful flamenco evening in a smal warm Bodega. We got on the private bus in Sevilla wich took us to Salteras where the Bodega is. There we received a warm welcome with a drink a delicious tapa. The flameco performance was great, authentic "flameno puro". A great gitarist, singer and two dansers! After the show we receveid another drink and a plate paella. And a bit later we also had a small flameco fiesta with the artists and who ever wanted to dance! At the end the bus brought us back to Sevilla. Thank you Maria for a wonderful evening.

We first went to Esencia a few months ago, and have been back again since. We loved the friendly atmosphere, as we're not serious aficionados so didn't want to feel intimidated by an in-crowd you sometimes find in a peña. It is owned by two Dutch women, one of whom, Maria, is a respected dancer, and they've created a warm ambience with great performers. The venue is in a small town near Seville - with a small patio, and a converted 18th century wine bodega with a high ceiling, which makes a suitably dramatic space. There's a bar near the stage, so you can sip your sherry or beer while you watch; you can also have tapas in the patio. One of the performers we saw there was the hugely talented singer Jeromo Segura, who soon after won the prestigious Lampara Minera Flamenco Prize - an indication of the quality of flamenco artists Maria attracts. His young daughter was up on stage with him, and it felt like a family get-together, quite unlike any other flamenco venue I've been to after 10 years living in Seville. All the performers seemed free and relaxed, really enjoying themselves. Locals come too - on our second visit, they started to sing their own flamenco in the patio! Very genuine, untouristy and highly recommended, however much or little you know about this wonderful Andalucian art form.
