“a great place!”
Reviewed 20 May 2010

Afterreading reviews on Trip Advisor we chose to stay at Hotel Puerta de Sevilla.
This small boutique hotel is a magic place to stay.
As soon as we arrive we went for a walk along the beautiful narrow streets that transports you back in time.
It seems to me that this is a family hotel.
Rooms with plenty of light are very comfortable and medium sized, give you plenty of great interior decorating, even good ideas for your own home.
We spent a great time at Hotel Puerta de Sevilla and come back ASAP.

The girl on reception gave us a massive rundown on everything to do in Seville including a detailed map which was very helpful.

The hotel is located in a busy district, surrounded by bars, cafés and restaurants, which was great for our needs. You also have use of a local parking lot where the hotel has reserved spaces which i think cost around £15 a night or something.

Our room was just a bit underwhelming. It was clean and ensuite, but the bed took up almost the entire room and the window was an internal one, which is just weird! It was comfortable enough but I'm not sure it was worth the price if there are others for less.

I wouldn't discourage anyone from using this hotel, but it's right on the edge of being overpriced for what it is

We arrived in Sevilla at lunch time on a sunny Sunday, the hotel is surrounded by superb restaurants and bistros and even after exploring Sevilla we returned to the area for lunch dinner etc. The property is historic, charming, clean with helpful and caring staff. The hotel has a roof top terrace which at night has beautiful views across rooftops. WIFI is complementary in the lobby, and there are a number of tours and events such as 'Flamenco' which the hotel staff can book for you. The hotel's low star level, must be due to missing amenities as I simply could not believe it was only awared 1 star. With only three days in Sevilla, we will be returning as there was so much we weren't able to complete on this trip. Take big suitcases, as there are plenty of bargins to be made when out shopping (not to mention a huge shopping mall next to Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.

Puerta de Sevilla is located in the lively Santa Cruz neighbourhood, a stone throw away from the windy streets of the Jewish quarter, the Cathedral and the palace. The staff at reception is friendly and always happy to provide directions and advice. The 3 de Oro restaurant just outside the hotel has great seafood. We had fabulous paella at Modesto around the corner. Located close to Seville's main attractions and a series of restaurants and bars, Puerta de Seville's location is unbeatable. The rooms are not big, but they are comfortable, very clean and the decoration is very pleasant. It' a great find at a great price. I would go back!.

This is a small boutique-style hotel on the edge of the tourist area of Seville. The lobby is very attractive although tiny and the room I had was very small and the bathroom even smaller. Within easy walking distance of good restaurants and most of the major attractions

Stayed three night from Oct 9 and for the money it is excellent value. Located on the edge of Barrio Santa Cruz but in a street with its own bustling character with several good cafes (Carmela, Altamira and Levies). Rooms are on the small side and our first one (15) was a bit cell-like with no external window but looked out onto the internal patio. Moved to Room 32 on the top floor which was very good and next to the roof terrace . Very helpful staff who made the room switch even though they were fully booked.
Main thing is the cleanliness. Nicely decorated and no carpets to trap dirt. The marble floors and stairs were cleaned each day (including Sunday) and everywhere was spotless. There is a fried fish bar on the corner of the hotel and there are some fishy smells, sometimes but not really an issue. All in all very good value for money to stay.
