Reviewed 23 February 2012

Like a museum of random taste, would like to have met the owner/designer just out of curiousity!
The staff are friendly and helpful. Great location, get lost in the narrow alleys, walk for a while and end up at your hotel, fantastic!

Room Tip: It's fun!

super location - easy walk to the main attractions and spitting distance from cathedral square - really quirky hotel - like staying in a museum or antique shop - our taxi driver dropped us off saying we were close and it took us almost an hour to find the hotel - streets in Seville really narrow and I think our taxi couldn't be bothered to drive round them - consult your map and if in doubt get dropped at the cathedral. The food was really good - main restaurant recommended in the flight magazine - tapas great too - only downside was no outside space to relax - but then we didn't really get time - Seville is a super city going again this year - great for wedding shopping!!

We have just spent three days in beautiful Seville and we stayed at this hotel. The position was ideal - it took less than five minutes to walk to the square, Cathedral and Giralda and there are plenty of restaurants, tapas bars and shops nearby. The hotel has a quaint, museum-like feel to it - paintings adorn the walls and the public areas are filled with objects that reflect the hotel's past history as a convent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were simple and traditional and the internal courtyard was very characteristic. We had the special lunch menu for only 12 Euros - a bargain for the quality and served in the main restaurant. Breakfast was in a smaller room but again, almost like a museum/art gallery and had a good choice of hot/cold/sweet/savoury food. We were even able to get coffee and juice at quarter past four in the morning on our last day before an early flight. On Thursdays and Saturdays there is a flamenco guitarist in the street-side bar/restaurant belonging to the hotel and we had a good meal there last Saturday evening. For the most part it was full of local people partying and we enjoyed the music and seeing the local people get up and dance flamenco and were made to feel part of it. The only negative point was that towards the end of the evening the waiters allowed people to smoke inside (even if it's against the law) and so we left a little earlier. On speaking to the staff at reception they confirmed that it isn't allowed so perhaps it was a one-off. We had a lovely time in Seville and would certainly return to this hotel again.

This is one of the most quirky hotels I've ever stayed in. All walls and every horizontal surface apart from the floor is filled with art: paintings, statues, embroidery, etc, etc. Some beautiful, some hideous, some huge, some tiny. Also the ground plan with stairs, alley's, courtyards adds to the quirkiness.

Breakfast is excellent, location is great, just 2 streets from the Cathedral. Our room didn't have any outside windows, apart from a tiny one in the bathroom, making it a bit claustrophobic.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the outside with a window. Little more noisy, lot less claustrophobic.

What a fabulous place this is, if you like something olde worlde and traditional/unusual then you will love it too. Don't go here if you want high tech, streamline modern luxury. Breakfast was fabulous, cold meats, tomatoes, cheese, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, rolls, bread - we stuffed ourselves silly. Staff were ALL very friendly and helpful especially Rafael who advised us what tapas bars to visit. Superb location, just 2 sidestreets behind the cathedral. We got the bus outside arrivals hall for 2.40 euros to last stop on Ave El Cid, walk round the corner to the tram 1.20 euros and get off at 3rd stop in front of cathedral, look on map for Argote de Molina which is just behind the cathedral and you're home and dry, it was soooooooooooo easy even for us and we're the wrong side of 40!!! Would definitely recommend this hotel and Seville, we had a fab 4 days and would definitely go back to Convento La Gloria. ENJOY.

Room Tip: We have a thing about noisy rooms but there was absolutely no noise whatsover as all the rooms face...

Convento La Gloria is certainly quirky and unlike many more mainstream hotels. It is jam packed with an eclectic mix of objects and furniture and in places has the air of a somewhat faded museum.

This can be charming - and is certainly different. Unfortunately it can also be annoying when it means that there are limitations on what is on offer. No internet access anywhere in the building; very few comfortable public seating areas (although lots of courtyards and spaces with uncomfortable seating); dining areas for breakfast with walls packed with paintings but no natural light whatsoever; TV available but MTV as the only english speaking channel etc.

We actually nejoyed the stay because it was different - and the inconveniences above did not stop our enjoying the fantastic location and wonderful sights of Seville. But 3 days were enough and for a longer stay you might want something a little more convenient.

Room was ok - but the furniture was tired and a rather strange mish mash of styles.

Staff were polite - but certainly lacked some of the warmth of customer service skills which might be on offer elswhere.

We were not wowed - we did not hate it - but somehow it failed to win our hearts. Probably needs to be dragged a little further into the 21st century!

We were spending a day in Seville, and this was an easy stroll to the breathtaking Alcazar and beautiful Cathedral. The hotel entrance and lobby are very ornate and colorful, and our room was large, simple and comfortable. The manager at check-in and the service person at breakfast were the main two folks we interacted with; they were cordial but not overly friendly. The breakfast was included and huge, though the line for the cup-at-a-time coffee maker backed up easily. The price was reasonable.
