“Really cheap and simple”
Reviewed 4 October 2009

I chose the Cathedral because it was the cheapest I could find. And I did not expect much of it either. But I can't say I'm not satisfied for the bargain. The room we got was normally furbished, clean, though with window facing the hall, not outside. As someone had already mentioned, the host girl does not speak English, but she was trying to understand very much. I got a reprimand when trying to use the computer in the downstairs hall - I don't know why, but as far as I understood it was not allowed to guests anymore. Overall Cathedral is a simple place, with clean facilities and good location. P.S. Try the roof terrace for a romantic getaway :)

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here from 5th - 9th June, and we were not happy with the treatment we received from the staff there. On arrival, the staff gave us a far from warm welcome, and insisted we pay the full amount for our rooms in cash.
We had not been pre warned that we would have to pay in cash in any of the booking correspondence, and I had used a credit card to secure the booking; therefore would have expected to be able to use this for full payment.

The worker in question also made extrremely impolite gestures to us; such as fingers rubbing together to indicate payment! This was done repeatedly until we handed over the cash.

The email I received to confirm my booking of the hostel also stated the check out time as 12.00 on the last day, but one of the workers in the hostel came up at eleven and angrily told us we had to be out. Again she gestured rudely for us to get out, by pointing in an aggressive fashion.

A friend of ours came to meet us at the hostel on our first night in Seville, but was told she couldn't come up to our room.
water in the shower was cold on more than one occasion, with no explanation offered as to why this was.

The good things about the hostel were that it had a beautiful interior, and the rooms were clean. Also central location!

Stayed there for 2 nights during the Feria de Abril in 2009 because it was one of the cheapest we could find during the very peak season. Location of this hostal is not bad, i.e. about 10 mins. by walk to Santa Cruz. We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor. The staircase leading from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor was really narrow, so it was difficult to move up our suitcases. Our room was clean but just too too tiny. This was the smallest room we have ever stayed. We can even hardly find space for opening our suitcases. The staff could only speak Spanish, so communication is another problem. Will choose somewhere else next time.

We stayed 2 nights in mid October 2007. I made a reservation through a 3rd party, Spainish website that specializes in smaller hostals, and has English. www.sol.com. worked fine and very cheap! 31 Euros per night.
First off. The hostal is located on Tienes street, which is one block off the main drag "Ring Road", so it is "kind of" easy to find. I actually think the side streets had different names, but we did manage to find it. They claim that it is on a pedestrian only road. Well, sort of. It is near one, but there were mopeds and sall cars going by from time to time. As well as loud talking early in the morning by some workers. P.S. If you are driving...lol... Parking is a NIGHTMARE in Seville. We parked the car in an underground garage near the bullfight ring, and left it there the whole time. Do not even think of driving around Seville!!!!! It's a nightmare.

1. ROOM. We arrived and they told us our room was on the top floor. the 3rd (2nd in Europe terms). We got up there and the room was TINY! I know European standards are small, but this was silly. It was like 8ft x 8ft. Double bed, with a closet that would not open because the room was so tight. Window & air-conditioning (3 euro extra) We tried it and I just couldn't deal with it. I went back down and asked for a larger room. They speak ONLY SPANISH. THe girl finally knew what I was talking about, and after alot of back & forth, we got a much nicer room on the 2nd(1st) floor. Narrow but long with a nice big Armoire, window, but no Air. We really didn't need air this time of year, but if you go in the hot season, beware. The rooms on the 3rd are just too small!!

2. AMMENITIES: After getting our nicer, larger room, I checked out the bathroom. Very Nice!!! HUGE bathroom. Bigger that our first bedroom by a longshot! Clean. You need to wait for hot water, and it is finiky, but works. No Shampoo or soap, bring your own.
Internet computer on the ground floor. reasonable. No breakfast. Secure place, person is there at all times. It's usually some girl. Nice looking atrium (patio) lots of light. 1 block off main street with many shops & laundry. Try going across the main street to find where the locals really shop. The laundrymat was a rip off 18 Euros for wash & dry (self serve) Go across the street & find cheaper.

With the exception of the language problems (which they were fairly undestanding), and the talking in the streets in the morning, and the occassinal scooter, this place was not too bad for the price. 31 Euros is a deal in Seville! Walking time to the cathedral is about 10-15 minutes though some nice cute local neighborhoods. Many Jamon bars with locals eating. Very authentic. If you are looking to save money, this is a reasonable option, just ask for room 102 or 103. (101 has 4 single beds, but no exterior window, but still nice) Leave your car in a safe parking lot or don't even bring one.

The Good:
Got what we asked for: a double bed
It was clean
The modern air-conditioning (available for 3 euros/day on top of the room price) saved us from the terrible Sevillan temperatures!
Almost central location

The Bad:
The room smelt of smoke
The staff kept bothering us every time we left the building
There was no lift, and we were on the second floor with a *very* heavy case
It was hard to find!
