This was our second trip to Sevilla, this time for our son's wedding, and we chose El Rey Moro because of it's location in the heart of the Barrio de Santa Cruz. We had no problems finding it, be advised the taxi's cannot drop you off at the doorstep but it was not even a 5 minute walk from our drop-off point to the hotel. The inner courtyard and decor is as lovely as others have written about, the sounds of the bubbling fountain extremely relaxing after a long days journey from Minnesota! Our corner room on the second floor was clean, small but as we were only in it during the night for sleeping one does not need a large room! Bathroom was larger than expected, and the small foyer was perfect for storing suitcases. We always pack light, however a few extra hangers in the closet would have been a nice touch. Bottled water available every day, and there are valuables safes in the rooms should you feel the need for one (we did not). Maps of the area available in the rooms and at the front desk; due to our schedule with the wedding we were not able to partake of the free drink offered but appreciated the gesture. Bikes are available and the city has added much in the way of bike paths and public transportation since our visit 3 years ago.....highly recommend the bikes! Breakfast was perfect for us: selection of cheeses, meats, fruits, cold cereals, eggs and sausage cooked to order if you choose, selection of yogurts, juice, coffees and teas, and baked goods. On the baked goods, we were very disappointed that doughnuts were so prominently displayed as we much prefer the local Tortas de Aceite (sweet olive oil pastry) BUT the good news is they do have them at the breakfast bar - if you have not had them before, think 'elephant ear' pastries without the cinnamon (I believe the spice used instead is cardamom) These are light, crisp, and very good. Room service was efficient and thorough, and you have the option to keep your towels for another use or get fresh ones each day. There is a hot tub on the roof that you register for at the desk - the rooftop also has lounge chairs, couches, and covered cabanas if you just want to sit at night with a glass of your favorite beverage and enjoy a nice view of the city and the Giralda. El Rey Moro's location is right in the middle of the Barrio de Santa Cruz, you are less than 5 minutes walk to the Real Alcazar and gardens, less than 10 minutes to the Cathedral, and the winding narrow streets of the Barrio are filled with a number of small fountains, gardens, shops and restaurants (more on these in another review).

We all really loved this hotel--we stayed in six different hotels during our trip to Spain, and this was by far our favorite. The location is great, right in the heart of Barrio Santa Cruz--the kissing lanes are charming, and we were able to easily walk to the Cathedral, Alcazar, and further afield to Triana, El Arenal, and the bullfighting ring.

The hotel's center courtyard is beautiful and peaceful, and the roof deck is very nice (with a new and clean hot tub). Our room was prettily decorated, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was also very clean and nicely outfitted. Despite the hustle and bustle on the streets around us, we never heard any noise in our room--it was very peaceful.

The staff really excelled at service. Upon our midnight arrival, the staff person was welcoming and really went above and beyond--I wasn't feeling well and wanted a drink but the restaurant was closed, but she volunteered to bring a Sprite to my room. I ended up needing a doctor and the staff discussed my options for care and made recommendations--and even remembered the next day and asked how I was doing as I passed the desk. The breakfast in the courtyard was awesome--eggs cooked to order, freshly prepared espresso and cafe con leche, multiple meat, fruit and bread options. There was chilled water in a refrigerator on each floor, and ours was always stocked--that's a great perk. And staff was always happy to provide recommendations for restaurants and entertainment, directions to anywhere, etc. (FYI, all the front desk staff and some other staff speak fluent English, which was very helpful since our Spanish is far from fluent.)

Although we didn't try it, there is a restaurant in the hotel that seemed very popular.

If ever I'm back in Sevilla, I will stay at the El Rey Moro... and I'll always enthusiatically recommend it!

Room Tip: We booked a Superior Double and were happy to have the extra space. (Our friends booked a standard...

I stayed at El Rey Moro Hotel with a friend for 2 days. We both loved this hotel! Our room was beautifully colorful, spacious and very clean. Breakfast was great. They have bicycles available at no cost to visit the city and free water bottles are available for guests at all time. The staff was wonderful. We had great service both in English and French. They also recommended a Flamenco show and book it for us. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

We loved this hotel. We were not able to stay for a second night because our travel plans changed. The hotel staff were so kind and welcoming. The manager gave us food to take with us on our overnight bus trip which was wonderful. We rode the bicycles that were available to guests and had a wonderful time. We would definitely book this hotel again if we are able to visit Seville again in the future.

LOVED El Rey Moro. My only regret is that we did not stay longer.

The twisting streets of Barrio Santa Cruz (so tight that two American girls with two American suitcases had to walk side by side) lead right to this lovely boutique hotel. The courtyard is beautiful, with impatiens on each blue table and a fountain in the center.

The staff is so friendly and eager to please. We couldn't figure out the blow dryer in the room, and they offered to bring us another. The free bikes to take out were a welcome and thoughtful detail. Sevilla is make for bike-riding.

Additionally, El Rey Moro is a 2 minute walk to all of Sevilla's main attractions.

I can't wait to come back here with my boyfriend...It's a beautiful and romantic place to stay!

We stayed two nights at El Rey Moro recently. The hotel was in a very convenient location to visit the sights of Seville, and just steps away from restaurants and shops. Extremely helpful and friendly staff, breakfast in a peaceful and lovely courtyard, and a very comfortable and nicely appointed room. We would happily stay here again.
