This was our second trip to Sevilla, this time for our son's wedding, and we chose El Rey Moro because of it's location in the heart of the Barrio de Santa Cruz. We had no problems finding it, be advised the taxi's cannot drop you off at the doorstep but it was not even a 5 minute walk from our drop-off point to the hotel. The inner courtyard and decor is as lovely as others have written about, the sounds of the bubbling fountain extremely relaxing after a long days journey from Minnesota! Our corner room on the second floor was clean, small but as we were only in it during the night for sleeping one does not need a large room! Bathroom was larger than expected, and the small foyer was perfect for storing suitcases. We always pack light, however a few extra hangers in the closet would have been a nice touch. Bottled water available every day, and there are valuables safes in the rooms should you feel the need for one (we did not). Maps of the area available in the rooms and at the front desk; due to our schedule with the wedding we were not able to partake of the free drink offered but appreciated the gesture. Bikes are available and the city has added much in the way of bike paths and public transportation since our visit 3 years ago.....highly recommend the bikes! Breakfast was perfect for us: selection of cheeses, meats, fruits, cold cereals, eggs and sausage cooked to order if you choose, selection of yogurts, juice, coffees and teas, and baked goods. On the baked goods, we were very disappointed that doughnuts were so prominently displayed as we much prefer the local Tortas de Aceite (sweet olive oil pastry) BUT the good news is they do have them at the breakfast bar - if you have not had them before, think 'elephant ear' pastries without the cinnamon (I believe the spice used instead is cardamom) These are light, crisp, and very good. Room service was efficient and thorough, and you have the option to keep your towels for another use or get fresh ones each day. There is a hot tub on the roof that you register for at the desk - the rooftop also has lounge chairs, couches, and covered cabanas if you just want to sit at night with a glass of your favorite beverage and enjoy a nice view of the city and the Giralda. El Rey Moro's location is right in the middle of the Barrio de Santa Cruz, you are less than 5 minutes walk to the Real Alcazar and gardens, less than 10 minutes to the Cathedral, and the winding narrow streets of the Barrio are filled with a number of small fountains, gardens, shops and restaurants (more on these in another review).
