“In the heart of Sevilla!”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

If you want to wake up every morning in the centre of one of the most charming, romantic and beautiful cities in Europe where the entrance to your hotel is off an historic, tiny cobbled lane way with bustling little restaurants and shops around every corner, then this is the hotel for you! Yes, it's a little tricky to find and the rooms are fairly small but the staff are friendly and helpful and the inner courtyard is an oasis for guests to relax after walking the streets all day. The Santa Cruz district is home to the Alcazar and the extraordinary Cathedral, so a walk from the hotel takes only 5 minutes.

The hotel was nice, but a fair way from being perfect. It lacks a bar and the restaurant only ever seemed to have one table being used which to us is a deterrent. The food may have been lovely so it's harsh judgement in honesty. Breakfast was good but quite often you had to ask to get fresh eggs or bacon, which would've been ok but we didn't speak enough Spanish to convey this. We weren't offered fresh eggs or a choice whereas Spanish guests seemed to be. In comparison, the Hotel Telegraf in Tallinn had a menu on the table and pushed the egg dishes. Our room was quite small, which is fine, and clean. Staff were on the whole helpful but a little surly.

I'm trying not to be overly harsh here...

We also had a package that included invitation to drinks. We read this as a couple of free drinks but on arrival we were given a voucher where we could get a complimentary drink with a meal at a nearby establishment. Hmmm.

I'm not fussy and our stay was quiet and relaxing. The location is fantastic and the courtyard is pretty. I feel a bit mean giving it 3 as I've nothing to compare to locally, but it fell a bit short of other places I've stayed in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia), although these were larger hotels to be fair. In summary, it didn't meet my expectations, by a fair margin.

Dear guest,
Thank you for comment. I apologize for not meeting your expectations.
The breakfast service is a buffet, but the eggs are preparated on request to give you the best, just freshly made (that´s the reason why sometimes you have to wait some minutes)
We have some free services for all of our guests: Bikes, mineral water... and some drinks for free, completly free (even more, you can also choose if you want to have the drinks at our restaurant at the hotel, or in Las Escobas- another of our restaurants near the Cathedral.
Please, dont hesitate to contact us: hotel@elreymoro.com
I remain you with best regards,
Manuela Sánchez

The hotel is located right in Santa Cruz, easy to get to and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Staff is friendly, the bed is SUPER COZY, and the breakfast is more than adequate. The little garden in the hotel is a nice place to relax and the little tables and chairs outside of every room are a nice touch. Highly recommended. :)

We are on a two week driving tour of Spain and our first stop was in Sevilla. We highly recommend the El Rey Moro hotel. We were completely spoiled. Welcome drinks, city tour, wonderful breakfast, water provided great recommendations, ideal location, and comfy room. The list goes on and on. I am afraid that nothing else on our trip has measured up. We have been completely spoiled!

We booked this hotel after searching TA, and were not disappointed. It is in a pedestrian zone but a car park can be found nearby. It is a very nicely restored building in the barrio, with the cathedral and Alcazar within easy walking distance. The included breakfasts in the hotel were great. And small amenities like chilled water were appreciated. Take advantage of the free walking tours they arrange each day. We just happened to be there during Semana Santa so this was a very special trip for us.

This was a superb place to stay--comfortable, spacious, and clean room with a big comfy bed and nice bathroom. Staff was lovely and helpful, and luggage storage appreciated before my room was ready. Excellent breakfast, too. It was nice to sit and have a drink with others in the patio. I would come back to this hotel. Only the noisy trash pickup in the middle of the night took away from the experience.

My husband and I stayed here in November 2013. Fabulous Hotel in the heart of the Jewish quarter away from the hussle and bussle of traffic noise in a pedestrian area of the city. The hotel is within steps of the main tourist attractions - Cathedral etc and with plenty within a short distance to enable the visitor to breath in the amazing sights and sounds of this fabulous city. The hotel was great value, very comfortable and even though not rated up there with the 4* and 5* experience, more than justified its boutique status. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, the hotel is very clean and the restaurant has more than ample to offer for breakfast and a good choice on the evening menu if your feet are too sore to venture out. A good choice of wine too. The majority of the main attractions are nearby so all can be reached on foot although there are bus stops within a few minutes of the hotel if you are planning to go further afield. There is a free walking tour from the hotel and you can also arrange Segway tours at reception too and the hotel has bicycle hire on site. I would recommend anyone to spend a good day at the Alcazar which is amazing - go early when the queues for the cathedral are huge - then if you have time when you finish at the Alcazar the queues at the cathedral are usually gone. Another tip - spend your time wandering the streets of the Jewish quarter and to the west of the hotel - it's like a maze and occassionally you will come across little square's surrounded by artesan shops, tapas bars and coffee shops - and usually a church. Sadly, we ran out of time as we discovered these gems of Seville - but as Seville is such a beautiful city I am sure we will return.

Room Tip: The standard rooms are average but more than adequate if you are intending to spend most of your day...
