“Very pleasant stay. ¡Highly recommended!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013 via mobile

We stayed at Hotel Holos for four nights and were glad we did. We were initially welcomed warmly by Doña Carmen at our arrival and she and her staff did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. They explained potential spots to visit as well as making reservations for us. They were always very pleasant.

The hotel is located away from the downtown area of Seville in a quiet, safe neighborhood. The soccer stadium is a couple blocks away but we cannot comment on game days. Downtown is easily accessible by buses 3 and 34; once on the bus, it is perhaps 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic, to the downtown area. Carmen provided us with a bus card for our use which we ultimately needed to refill. If you wish to spend an evening in the area, about two blocks away are a couple restaurants for tapas or a full dinner. We visited the "Rincon de Monolo" and had excellent tapas and salads. Irene or Carmen can recommend some restaurants.

The hotel itself has rooms on three floors though it is considered a two story one because the ground floor is "0". We had a room on the top floor. There is no elevator but they take up your luggage. A person with limited mobility would have difficulty going to any of the upper rooms. There is one room on floor "0" . The stairway is a touch narrow but well lit if you use the light switch. (On Friday night, each step had a lit votive candle in a safe receptacle going up the stairs. Nice effect.) The room was air conditioned but we really had no need for it. There is no safe in the room but they take good care in knowing their guests. The bed was comfortable and each night a little origami work was left on your bed. The bathroom in our room was quite generous and they provided complementary bathrobes. We were impressed by the Venetian plaster in the bathroom. Our room also had a small loft accessible by a ladder. The breakfast is included in the price and it consists of some organic bread, juice, coffee, olive oil and a selection of jams and jellies. It was more than sufficient. They do not serve any other meals. However, if you desire fruit or wine or beer, etc., after you return from the sites, all you need to do is ask. If you need to leave early, they will have a breakfast ready for you before you go. Laundry and folding are available on a per washing machine load basis and is ready the same day. In addition, there is a sitting area on the roof as well as an outdoor shower for I imagine hot days.

The decor is minimalist. We completely recommend this small hotel. If you want to enjoy a place away from the hustle and noise of downtown Seville, but still convenient enough to get there quickly, this is your place.

We received a very warm welcome from Carmen and her staff. Since it was our honeymoon, we were given the best room, champagne and tasty fruit, which was served on the terrace of the hotel overlooking similar rustic and charming balconies of Spanish houses, like our own hotel. We felt very much at home with Carmen's warmth and care for us, even going so far as to personally find a way to book a tour for us of the Alhambra in Granada, even though on all official websites it was book out.

We enjoyed a typical Andalusian homemade breakfast everyday after which Carmen or Amaya gave us a map of the city, information on what to see as well as directions to and from the city. Even though the hotel was in a quiet residential area, it was very easy to get to the city by bus and for late evenings, we frequented a tapas bar in the neighborhood which had a variety of dishes, quick service and good prices. The hotel also had bikes available that we could use to get into the city.

At night, we also returned to our rooms to see a sweet quote and an origami animal, which was there to see us off to dreamland. We really felt cared for and are so glad we picked this place as our first hotel in Spain. We highly highly recommend it. Thank you Carmen and Amaya!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Holos - it was nice to be only a short bus ride away from the centre of Sevilla and it really wasnt an inconvenience as they are very regular and cheap too. Although we have visited Sevilla many times Carmen was very helpful in recommending some places we hadn't been to including an excellent but ridiculously cheap tapas bar.
The breakfast was very simple but the hotel was very clean , staff very pleasant and I would certainly recommend this hotel.

We visited Seville for 1.5 days and received excellent help from Irene at the Holos office. Restaurants were recommended, train and bus instructions were given, and special assistance with rental car and other hotel reservations made our visit very easy and efficient. The hotel is very small, only 7 rooms, It is located in a quiet, charming and convenient neighborhood away from the city center. The hotel is a renovated modern simple uncluttered decor that has a Danish look and feel. It is a delightful contrast to the Spanish architecture surrounding the city. I rate this boutique hotel because the rooms are so conservatively small. But everything you need is here! I would come again.

We really loved this small but charming hotel. Very comfortable room, bed and linen excellent, really nice bathroom, and a communal balcony outside.
It's situated in a really quiet area, just a short bus or taxi journey in to the city centre.
You just couldn't fault Carmen. She offered all the help we could want. Maps, suggestions and she even made bookings for us.
We love Sevilla, and wouldn't think to stay anywhere else next time we visit.

The GPS found this hotel quite easily. It's a small boutique hotel that is very modern. The rooms are clean but not overly spacious. The only drawback is that it's a fair way out of the city and parking is around 500 mtrs away. Breakfast is great with locally grown produce. The staff are very helpful and Carmen is delightful and is happy to discuss a number of recommended restaurants, bars, places to go and organised tix for the Alhambra in Granada and a local flamenco show .... With a Spanish history lesson to boot.

Hotel Holos is a small hotel (just seven rooms) approximately two kilometres from the main city centre. We bought a 'bonobus' ticket and used the buses to get into and around the city - which was much cheaper than taxis. However, we would recommend walking at least once as the route along the wide avenue takes you past the magnificent pavilions built for each country represented at the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. This takes you to the Parque Maria Luisa where you will find the amazing Plaza de Espana.

HotelHolos was an ideal base as it is outside the crowded city centre and, at night, was quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was sufficient and the warmth of the staff, their kindness and attention to one's needs was charming. Carmen is the perfect host, her knowledge of the city is second to none. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble, ordering train tickets on line and making reservations for meals or shows, saving us the bother of doing this for ourselves.

I believe it is rated highly because it is a small, friendly hotel offering a high level of personal service. If you want a large, faceless institution, with lots of facilities but no soul, look elsewhere.

Room Tip: We had room 7 on the top floor, quiet and large enough for the two of us.

Thank you very much for your comments. They really make us feel that our concept of "less is more" if treated with care can work for the guests staying at Holos. And then thank you for "small is beautiful" which is on the same wave lenght. We hope to see you again visiting Seville.
Best regards,

Carmen
