My wife and I spent 3 nights here.
A lovely modern apartment in a great location with stunning views of the Basilica.
Friendly reception at Hotel Sauce gave us great advice on local attractions and we found Zaragoza to be a friendly city with all attractions and restaurants in easy walking distance.

Room Tip: Level 2 corner room with plenty of windows was light and bright and well ventilated.

I booked a two bed apartment for my parents and my partner and I to stay in for one night in the city as part of a trip across north-east Spain. It offered great value for money (better than two hotel rooms) and we were right on the main square, on the top floor with the best view of the Basilica in the city.

The apartment was great - modern, spacious, very light and with lots of ingenious storage solutions (would be ideal for longer stays too). The kitchen was well-equipped, high speed free wifi, and there was a washing machine - as we had been travelling a few weeks by this point, this came as a welcome luxury.

However, we tried for a couple of hours, couldn't work out how to work it, and eventually called the hotel as the lights that were flashing meant there was an error. It was quite late by this point and the receptionist was very understanding, but said he couldn't do anything until his morning colleague came in. I asked him to ring me early the next morning (we had wet, unclean clothes which we needed clean and dry before we left the city at 2pm the following day!).

Before 9 the next day, I received a call and at 9am a laundry lady from the hotel came to collect our clothes to wash them (for free). We picked up our clean, dry clothes on checkout at 12, after enjoying a stress-free, enjoyable morning in the city.

These apartments (and Hotel Sauce who runs them) know what customer service means. To be honest, the washing machine issue was annoying but it was eclipsed by the swift and appropriate way in which the problem was dealt with. As I said to the hotel in response to their personalized courtesy email, problems will always happen, but the important thing is how they are dealt with - and in this instance, the hotel did exactly the right thing from my point of view as a client. I am more than happy with my stay and will recommend these apartments to anyone going to Zaragoza, and I will be keen to stay in them on my next trip to the city.

Room Tip: Top floor was the best in my opinion!

This hotel property is amazingly situated just two doors down from the Plaza del Pilar, and so you're close to just about everything in the historic center. The check in is at a different hotel, which was a bit unusual but not really a problem since it's only a couple of blocks away. The double room was clean and functional with a comfortable bed. The price was excellent (59 euros) for the location. Wi-fi was reliable and fast. Breakfast was available at the hotel we checked in at, but we didn't go there since there are a number of cafes near the property that looked good. Most unusual parking experience ever - it costs extra and is worth it to get the car off the street - we needed to be guided into this miniscule parking spot two levels below ground where every turn was an adventure.

Room Tip: The forward facing rooms have a nice view of the basilica, and aren't too noisy.

Dear guest from the US,
Thank you so much for your wonderful description about your stay with us!
We are concerned about the difficulty you found when parking your car in our garage.
I have been to the US, and I perfectly undertand your mentality. Big cars, huge and spacious outdoor parking lots in the US. Here in Spain, in Zaragoza, specially in the city centre, there is lack of parking facilities. Our garage has the disadvantage of being small and narrow, but it has the advantage of being is JUST IN THE HEART of the historical part of the city and next to Sabinas. And as you say, we help and guide our guests to make things easier. Thank you for sharing your point of view with other travelers.
Hello to all our American guests and friends,
Isabel

I stayed in the apartment for one night, with my husband and my baby. We were on the 4th floor, the view on the cathedral was stunning. The bathroom was very nice and clean. The kitchen could be a little bite cleaner.
The staff (from the sauce hotel) was very kind and helpful. The city of Zaragoza is beautiful. I recommend this place without any doubt.

When we booked it was Sabinas Bayeu and by the time we got there it was Sabinas El Pilar. Excellent apartment. Clean, enough space, good facilities (though could have done with a kettle) and good kitchen and bathroom - no bath, but an excellent shower. We were on the 4th floor (and there's a lift). Staff, located at the hotel just around the corner, very helpful. Next door to the museum with the excellent exhibition of Goya engravings.

Only problem for us was the mattress on the bed. Very thick, squidgy and soft - so not ideal for those who are prone to getting a bad back. Not sure how they could rectify this as the bed base itself was firm.

Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: As others have said, try to get apartment with clear view of the Basilica.

Dear guests from London,
Thank you so much for your accurate description and opinion.
As you say we have recently changed the name of our apartments from Sabinas Bayeu to Sabinas El Pilar. Only for marketing and commercial reasons because it is a new name that we think our guests could remember more easily and beacause we are located just at Pilar Square. And we are the same owners and the same staff: Sabinas and Hotel Sauce team.
We definetely will find a solution to the soft mattress. We sell " sleep" and we cannot permit that our guests don´t enjoy a nice and comfortable rest. Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are now alert about your complaint. Sorry for the inconveniences this may have caused you.
And finally, I agree, the Goya engravings are just fantastic!!! and very important : it is a permanent exhibition, it is always there, at Camon Aznar Museum, just next door!
Best regards from all the team!
Isabel

Hi we stayed at the Apartment for 3 nights in March 2013. They were very clean with fresh towels every day. Staff in associated hotel Hotel Sauce were very attentive and helpful. Location of Apartments first class with short walk to Basilica Del Pilar, most museums, Bars and restaurants. All in all very good value at £15 pppn would recommend this accomodation for a short stay in Zaragoza.

Stayed 3 nights in the large apartment in mid Feb. Great location overlooking the Basilica del Pilar. Spacious apartment, very comfortable. Cleaning service was great and staff at Hotel Sauce were very welcoming. Slight downside is that is gets very windy in Zaragoza and so the top apartment can be a little noisy at night but we didn't find that a problem. Would definitely return.
