“Surprisingly interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

Strange when walking in, but then the narration starts and everything lights up during your walk.
No English explanation at all! What a shame, because it is interesting and you do not know what you are looking at. Have to piece it together.

“A Must See”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2012

The Church of the Sacred Heart is located at the Plaza San Pedro Nolasco. It has a simple façade with the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This church has been turned into the Museo del Rosario de Cristal (Museum of the Crystal Rosary). In the 18th century people started saying the Rosary in the Basilica del Pilar and then moved out into the streets. They recited the Rosary and sung in the streets. This became popular and people started carrying standards and candles. October 12 was the feast day of the Virgen del Pilar and the Rosary was said on that evening. The Royal Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary was formed and wanted to represent the scenes of the mysteries with carriages bearing statues and stained glass lamps. They asked Ricardo Magdalena, the city architect, for his help. Master craftsmen made 15 mysteries and 200 hand lamps and these were first used in 1890. The procession was named the Crystal Rosary and it started being celebrated on Oct. 13 with a longer route. Hundreds of people now take part in the procession with regional costumes, and the procession starts at the Church of the Sacred Heart and moves along the Calle del Coso, Alfonso I, and the Plaza del Pilar. The church now has a permanent exhibition of the Crystal Rosary.

“Fabulous stained glass models”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2012

Quite a surprise visiting this museum - I expected the stained glass to be built into the former church but in fact it was a collection of large 3D models. The tour lasts around 20 minutes with prerecorded narration (in Spanish) provided as each of the models lights up in turn. At the end of the tour all models light up, giving you an opportunity to take additional photographs.
