A little tricky to find the first time, but the location is truly perfect. The trick is when you're heading north on Paseo de Begona take it to the end and make a LEFT into the alley. It'll be immediately on your right. We arrive in a rental minivan and was worried it wouldn't fit in the garage lift, but it fit with room to spare. You just need to make sure you take wide enough turns to enter the lift. I can't say enough about the hotel staff. They were extremely helpful in every way and very friendly too. Most of the staff has limited English skills, but it was never a problem even with my very limited Spanish. We traveled with 3 adult and 1 small child so we booked 2 adjacent double rooms. The rooms were a little on the small side, but average size by European standards and not a problem at all. The rooms were very clean. We were on the top floor and had windows above the bed that were perfect for opening at night to feel the cool September air. The attached cafe on the first floor was very, very good and super convenient. It's not 5 star dining but the meals were very tasty, well portioned, and very reasonably priced. The included continental breakfast was more than adequate, but if you crave eggs the quiche is a cheap, quick and tasty solution. The hotel location is perfect as it's just south of the Plaza Mayor and Cerro de Santa Catalina. The port to the west is super close, and the main beaches to the east are a short walk. The plaza de Italia is very close and has excellent restaurants. (eg Cicerone).

Room Tip: If you want the sky light windows, try to get a top floor room.

Parking in the garage was a challenge due to a narrow street, and even more narrow garage lift, but for 11 euro a day it was worth it for the peace of mind to be parked safely... not that Gijon is dangerous, but with a Spanish rental car and minimal insurance, its best to be safe.
The hotel staff is wonderful, helpful, and spoke/understood English well. The room was very fresh, modern and comfortable. Both room and bathroom were clean, clean, clean. Lots of interesting places to eat in the neighborhood, 10 minute walk to some of the better ones. The local cider tastes like gym socks... but thats no fault of the hotel :)
Free Wifi is always a plus in my book and free breakfast was very good, with fresh fruits, juice, good coffee and fresh breads/pastry.

So hard to find - forget sat nav, forget locals, we found it after 45 mins searching, but well worth it. Great location for sight seeing, great location to sea and town. Right on the restaurants - actually, terrific location for a hotel with excellent underground parking, once you find it. Fantastic breakfast and first class staff. So impressed, going again.

I stayed here over 3 nights in June on a trip of Northern Spain and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms are clean, small & have a refreshing blue & white color scheme The bathroom is compact, no tub only a shower & a small amount of shower gel satchets in a basket. The windows have very good double glazing so there is virtually no street noise from down below, no car pass as it is a pedestrian street but there is people at 2 am. Breakfast is usual bread /ham /cheese /orange juice /coffee affair. Average.

The hotel is in a great location, smack bang in the middle of the old town, not too far from the bus station, very near lots of bars & restaurants as well as the beach. If you go you must have menu de dia at Bar Mercante in the old town 10e - such great value - it overlooks El Puerto (that expensive restaurant) by the port in the old town, Would go back to Gijon again.

Excellent location: blocks from the port and beaches and down-town.
Excellent real-estate, brand new (opened June 2009)
Ample and beautiful rooms.
Excellent break-fast. Plus all-day open restaurant.
Great feature: on-site Parking!
* note: bring a map to find the place or call the hotel when near for directions.
Due to pedestrian streets and narrow alleys, it is not easy to dive around.
