“Charming house with warm hospitality”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

At a little distance of Gijon we found this charming luxury B&B (hotel). After a very warm welcome we are sitting outside with some wine and cheese. Our room, Nona, is at the front of the house with balcony. Spacious room with half open bathroom with a separate shower and a bath. There is no airco but you can open the doors so enough wind. There are every where sitting places to read or relax, inside and outside. Also there is a the little chapel. Breakfast is huge every day other dishes, to many to eat; fruit, cheese, eggs, quiches. Mara walks continue between the breakfast room and the kitchen. Hospitality is great in this house. There also is a parking space before the house. A good address for visiting Gijon and its environment.

Room Tip: room Nona is one of the largest room with balcony at the front of the house

It is not often one can claim to have stayed at an Hotel that only improves year on year. My husband and family first visited this special place in 1999 and we go back like returning pigeons. One for the sheer beauty of the area and two because quite frankly, the family who run it are the perfect hosts in all respects. Charming, knowledgeable and so welcoming.
Dona Mara is just the perfect hostess and although you may enter her home as a client you will definitely leave as a friend.
The rooms are lush and exquisitely equipped, even to an Nesspresso machine, Clarins beauty products and even shoe cleaning service, mostly now a thing of the past. The beds very comfortable and beautiful linen and thick Egyptian cotton towels.
Power showers and good sized baths are the norm.
Then there are the beautiful grounds with seating areas where you can take your sundowners. There is also a beautiful family chapel adjoining the house, hence the name of the property.
Gijon is near by and so is a good selection of restaurants. Weather permitting, a choice of breathtaking Asturian coves and beaches.
In all a wonderful place to visit and if like us, you use the ferry at Santander or Bilbao, a perfect place to to stop for entry into Portugal or continue into Galicia or other parts of Spain.
A very special place to stay and a very special family who will look after you so well .

My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel for a night. It was really cozy, clean and beautiful. Enjoyed a good wine and cheese on the garden and walked around town.
The couple that runs it are really nice and warm. Breakfast was beautiful as well.
Well recommended!

My girlfriend and I stayed here. It is very pretty and the women who runs it is very kind and friendly. The area around the B&B is neat to walk around and the breakfast was really good. It is very quiet and the rooms are modern and private.

Old stone house with a chapel renovated and turned into a small B&B.
It seems family-run and the lady who welcomed us was extremely kind and willing to give us tips and advice on Gijon and the area.
Negative aspects:
- location. It makes no sense to stay in Deva if your intention is to visit Gijon. The hotel it is supposedly 3km away but the road is not easy to find and even if you get it right it takes 25mins by car from the centre of Gijon. If you are looking for a countryside, isolated hotel, this is not the right choice as it is in a town. The garden is big but not huge and not secluded, there is no swimming pool, so reallly not much to do in the hotel itself.
- Our double room was EUR 120 per night, which we found quite expensive given the room and location (eg we stayed in the Palacio re Rubianes for EUR 125 and that hotel is way better than this one!!)
- The double room was clean and functional but no air conditioning (we slept with the balcony door open) and small bathroom which didn't look very new

Positives
- breakfast home made, wide selection and tasty
- welcoming receptionist, very professional and helpful
