Appropriate not its price, is a hotel with the basics, and so, one would expect a better cost-benefit ratio. Its location is very good as it allows easy access to the marina and the city center. It has parking and Wi-Fi.

We found this hotel excellent and well placed for getting around Gijon, Ovideo and surrounding areas. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are lovely. It is a 10 min walk from the bus station and the old town. This was our second stay in Gijon and I chose a hotel with a swimming pool and gym. However, the swimming pool is only open between 5pm and 11pm and although it is stated as being heated, it is far from that! So, lovely hotel, but next time we will head for the old town - unless the hotel increases the opening hours and turns up the heating in the pool.

Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for your review.
Unfortunatly, we have realised that the machine that heats the swimming pool was broken during your stay. This is already repared.
Anyway, as you can read on a board in the wall of the swimming pool, according to the law, the temperature of the swimming can be max of 27ºc.
We hope to see you again in our hotel on your next stay in Gijon.
Best Regards.

I cannot honestly say at this point whether the hotel itself is terrible, but the treatment we have received thus far has been well below what I would consider acceptable from a 4 star hotel.

I made a reservation online yesterday but immediately the transaction was accepted, I realised I had entered an incorrect date.

I booked the date of the 11th instead of the 12th. We called straight away to try to resolve the error. After 2 lengthy calls to the hotel, where we were assured the change would be no problem and there were rooms free to change the booking, I have been told they are now full.
As it was only a reservation, I would have immediately gone back to the website and reserved for the next night, as at that time there was availability.

So now the situation is that the only rooms available in the whole town for Friday night are around 300 EUROS and so we cannot stay.

Thank you Hotel Silken for your outstanding customer service, it truly is baffling to me that a business which is designed to cater to individuals treats them so shabbily.

Very frustrated and upset.

Perfect hotel to visit Gijon, Aviles and Oviedo.
Friendly personnel everywhere in the hotel (reception, bar, dining room).
Good information about visiting the city. Not far from the beach and a train station.
Breakfast was excellent, big variety, fresh fruit, everything you can desire.
Opening hours of the fitness and swimming pool are not so user friendly, they are closed in the morning during the week.

Despite getting lost in Gijon and taking rather too long to find the hotel (our fault!), once in our room we were really pleased. Lots of space, spotlessly clean, robes, slippers, great bathroom, tea- and coffee-making facilities, comfortable beds, good view over the city. When we couldn't get the hairdryer to work, the guy on reception came up to show us which button to press. It was only a 10-minute walk into town. We were really pleased with the hotel.

This hotel was ok. Your average hotel. Nothing too fancy about it. Great location if you want to be right next door to the train. Location within the city wasn't great. Not much going on around it. Although Gijon is pretty small so you can still walk everywhere from it. They were kind enough to serve us breakfast even though we were late though. That was nice.
