“Great quality food and elegant service though bit pricy”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

Casa conrado offers good quality food and is worth to experience Asturias cuisine. I had beans with clams (fabas con almajas) and my brother tried hake with 2 clams on the side and with a light tomato based sause. Both were really good. It was lunch time and 10 out 15 tables were occupied. Probably reservation is necessary for dinner.

“Old school fine dining”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

This place has existed for ever. And this is clear from the various bits of history and clutter that has accumulated over the years. Some people might find this interesting, some might say musty.

The service by both waiters is definitely old school. Very correct and appropriate, even the attire is like that. But it is a bit stiff. The other customers happen to be of an older generation which suggests this is possibly a classic place that has not developed much but is going on the same old formula of classic cooking and what has worked so far will continue to work. Same old loyal customers.

We had for starters bacalao on the one hand and langustine soup. I found the langoustine marisco soup was average and the four pieces of langustine were all chewy. For mains we had rabo de buye ( a bit unusual to see on a menu) on the one hand and then solomillo with fois gras in an oporto sauce. I loved the solomillo. It was cooed to perfection and the sauce was a perfect complement to the fois gras. We were recommended a wine which really fitted – again very correct service. For desert one carbayon, an Asturian classic, which was good.
The place offers classic and traditional dining but perhaps needs to think of ways to evolve now that Spain has a number of Michelin star restaurants. This surely should lead to Inspiration and creativitiy.

“Good food, poor service, not worth the price”
Reviewed 1 October 2012

This is considered by many as one of the best restaurants in Oviedo. It is a place for high standing people and fits perfectly with the grouch bourgeoisie of Oviedo. Regular people would dislike it. Decoration is odd and old fashioned, space is not enough to be comfortable and the service is really bad, unless you are a well known aristocrat of the city. The food is very good but in my opinion it is not worth the price. The restaurant is very expensive and you expect more than just good food. Anyway, if you dare to enter they are better with meat than with fish and the desserts are really good.
