“A treasure of a art gallery”
Reviewed 21 January 2013

Visited this little art gallery on a cool January day. The collection was a real surprise. Amongst a host of unknown (to me) artists was a liberal scattering of works by Picasso, Dali, Goya, El Greco etc. The place was beautifully laid out, well kept and warm there were attendants on each floor willing to assist. You need a good couple of hours to appreciate some of the very underestimated Spanish artists on display here. Our visit was slightly spoiled by a crowd of adolescants on a school trip who were raucous in the extreme and half of them spent the whole time texting with absolutely no interest in the place. I suppose it should be slightly reassuring to note that the UK is not the only place where we seem to be jettisoning our culture. This place is well worth a visit if you are in Oviedo.

“Not big, but rich collection”
Reviewed 31 August 2012

My friends and I were there during our stay in Oviedo. Wonderful little collection of mostly spanish artists, represented by 2-3 works. Free. Be avare that it is closed in the middle of the day, but stay open late.

“a very nice small fine arts museum for the capitol of Asturias”
Reviewed 17 January 2012

We spent most of our time in Asturias traveling outside of Oviedo, but one evening we checked out this museum while walking the lovely streets of the old city. It is very nice

“Among the Best Art Museums I've Seen”
Reviewed 17 January 2012

This is a very lovely, yet manageable art museum. Well worth your time, considering that it is free and also has many pieces rotated through it on loan from the Prado.
I discovered this museum when I was alone in Oviedo in 2009. Had to bring my husband and some friends along to see it this year. All of us were in town to see La Cemera Sancta in the Cathedral of the Holy Savior after having completed the portuguese route of the El Camino Santiago de Compostela.
