“Great Stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2014

This hotel was great! I can't believe I was considering another just to get a view of the museum through the window. Totally unnecessary! It is about 5-6 mins walking distance from the metro stop. The museum is also a 5-6mins walk once you cross the bridge. It is very close to old town and a shopping mall. The staff were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was typical but not bad. The room was very clean and check in was smooth. I was also happy that the plasm screen TV had a usb port so that I could charge my iPod.

My only qualm was that the bed and pillow were not that comfy.

I would stay here again because the price is good, it included breakfast and 2 tickets to the museum.

Room Tip: I think I stayed in 303. The balcony had a view of the bridge and water.

On the positive side the position of the hotel is excellent - close to all places of interest.
We were very disappointed with our room which was dark, stuffy and smelled of smoke. We had an internal room and found it very claustrophobic, the windows only opened slightly at the top and they had frosted glass so you coudnt see out. The room was on floor 4 in a courtyard facing private flats. I would definately ask for an outside facing room if in the unlikely event I was to stay there again.
Breakfast was not value for money compared with others I had stayed at on this trip. The limited choice of hot food was univiting, as it was barely tepid and I ate very little of what was available.
Staff on the reception were helpful and pleasant. Bar/cafe staff were rather miserable.

Room Tip: Definately ask for an outside facing room.

Dear Hoppy,

We are glad you shared with us on tripadvisor your experience, and we are very sorry about the restaurant issue. Let me tell you that we are working on this area, just now, to resolve our breakfast area that is just the same that last year, but it seems that is not good enough now, so we are making changes. Thanks. Our staff behaviour is not acceptable, and we have already had a conversation about it, so it will never ever happen again. Without your comments we could have continued as usual, and is not good for our business. Thanks
Regarding our rooms, I´m very sorry that the full information and pictures on the official site of the 18sqm room are not what you expected. We are a non smoking hotel, and if we get to see or smell anything, we have an special device that cleans the air, but it seems that we didn´t use it enough this time. Sorry for that. Interior rooms are cheaper because of the location as you have described, and that´s why the window have that special glass that allows luminosity to get in, but nobody will get to see you, for privacy. The windows do not open more than few inches for safety reasons, and we can not change that. We offer external rooms with open views to the river side, they have not same price, and we only have 15% of that type of rooms.
As a mentioned before, thanks for your comments, I´ll tell all our staff about your experience, and knowing that is not a frecuent issue, we don´t want any guest to be unconfortable with us, so we are working on it.
Kind regards,

Iñaki Armada

Stayed here three nights. The location is excellent, very close to Zubizuri walking bridge and 10 minutes away from Guggenheim or Plaza Moyua. The hotel is quiet and clean. The room was a bit narrow. The parking garage located few blocks away but it was safe and spacious. There's few restaurants nearby and also the funicular to the Artxanda viewpoint is close. The reception was very helpful when asked about directions.

Room Tip: Check the Guggenheim package if available. The price of the museum tickets vary so this could be a b...

Dear Anna V.

We want you to know that we really aprreciate your comments, and we are happy that you enjoyed with us your journey in Bilbao. All references about the city or funicular are correct, and we are glad you share it with every one here in Tripadvisor. There is only one thing I want to say about the parking place, mentioning "few blocks down" when is just next block, but the rest if everything exactly as your mention.
Let me let you know about a few changes on our web site and hotel since you´ve been here couple weeks ago, regarding new rooms and bathrooms, as well as some new services we are starting to our guests. All this added to what you already know is what we can offer you on your next visit.

As part of reception staff, thank you so much for your references, I´ll share with every one and will keep on working to try to offer you the best.

Kind regards

Stayed here for four nights at the end of September 2013. Very easy to find after the bus from the airport dropped us off in the city centre. About a 10/15 minute walk, Hotel is clean and room was comfortable with staff friendly and breakfast good. Given all of that, the hotel is value for money and this is particularly so of the location. It is a short walk from the Guggenheim and the Old Town which makes it perfect for exploring this lovely city.

Recommended.

We stayed at this hotel one night before our flight out the next day. The hotel is pleasant and well located within easy walking distance of the Guggenheim Museum and the old town of Bilbao. It is near the town hall and very near the pedestrian footbridge over the River Nervion. Parking is available in their garage for a charge of 17 euros per 24 hours. The rooms are of adequate size and have Wi-Fi and some English TV channels. The beds were very comfortable with nice linens. The hotel's restaurant served a very good lunch for a reasonable cost. Hotel staff was helpful. I would stay here again.

This hotel offers the most convenient location in Bilbao. It is right in front of the footbridge to cross the river to walk to the Guggenheim Museum. The river walk is pretty, and this hotel is right there! There is also an outdoor/indoor cafe next to the hotel where you can stop and have a glass of sangria and a tapa. The hotel itself has an outdoor/indoor cafe. To go to the funicular up the mountainside is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. You can also go to a grocery store near the funicular!
Our room was wonderful! We had a balcony with a riverside view and mountainside view!
Breakfast offered a large selection of pastries, eggs, Spanish tortilla, hams, etc., and good coffee!
Cannot think of anything that was a negative at this hotel. Also has its own parking garage for a fee.
Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Ask for one with balcony.

Dear guest,

We love you like it that much. Is funny how 47 years ago when we choosed this location we were only 3 hotels down town, betting on this plasce on an industrial time that became withing the years a touristic city, even a world wide reference on urban style.
The Guggenheim museum was only the starting point, all those walking streets on the river side, pedestrian bridges and so on came by to push the toursim and better quality of live of our locals. We have adapted ourself to the mothern times with the outdoor terrace and full breakfast. Rooms are on constant refurnishment so we can be updated on style and services; last changes were removing all toilet cisterns to reduce noise and water saving. We look forward to get to see you again, please keep inform of bes information about the city and the hotel on our oficial social media and web site, where you can also find best deals for your trip to Bilbao.
Best regards,

We stayed here for 3 nights in late September on our first visit to Bilbao. The hotel, in a pleasant area of the city, is ideally located for visiting the various sights - Guggenheim, old town, etc. In fact we took the hotel's "Guggenheim Deal" as previous reviewers have mentioned and it was very good value.

Our room was on the second floor and had a small balcony that overlooked the plaza which contained the Zubizuri Bar but we experienced no street noise whatsoever. The room and bathroom were both clean, spacious and nicely appointed. Breakfast was included in the "deal" and was a hot / cold buffet with a good selection of food - very enjoyable.

The hotel personnel were all very pleasant and helpful which also helped to make our stay here extremely pleasant indeed - highly recommended.

Dear guest,

It is a pleasure you enjoyed your "short stay" here in Bilbao with us. Thank you for sharing your experience here in Tripadvisor with us, taking advantage of one of our most popular deals, Room with breakfast inclued and guggenheim tickets on a exterior room.
Is very imporant for us to have a clean room, I´ll transmit it to our cleaning team to keep on that standart. Thanks. It is a "proverb" here saying that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, we are glad you liked our selection of food.
It won´t make any sence to be at the front desk of a hotel and not help our guest on ther experience, is the most important for us, make our travelers best tips to enjoy the city.
Hope see you soon
