Plus points
1. The location could not be better in the old town making it great for restaurants shops and bars
2 The suites are of a good size and are well furnished. The bed was really comfortable one drawback(but not a big issue with us was the lack of natural light)
3 Plenty of information regarding restaurants bars and places of interest from Maria
Minus points
1 There is a huge amount of construction work going on in the building as soon as enter the front door it like a building site and not very inviting Had we known of construction work we would not have booked the Arriaga suites.
2 Regarding our concerns about the construction work we asked to speak to Oihana(the owner?) and on the two appointed times she did not turn up.
So to sum up by all means try the Arriaga suits but not during construction work and that could take some time.

The apartments are well furnished, bright and spacious, bathrooms very clean and modern, beds very comfortable. Location in the old town is great for shops and restaurants and about 20 minutes walk from the Guggleheim. We liked the balcony doors for air and a view of the street. Free wifi with good signal.
Noisy corporation rubbish removal vehicles and lorries travel past the hotel at all hours of the night and the apartment block is under renovation meaning that power tools are vibrating through the building structure from early morning and that the entrance to the Arriaga suites on the first floor was being dug up and the stairs replaced. The apartment had a microwave, and fridge and 4 coffee cups but no kettle or coffee machine, nor coffee. The safe in the room is too small for laptops and is not attached to the wall i.e removable.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my wife and kids aged 6 and 9 on 31/5/13. Its central location in the old town is fantastic and given the choice between an over-priced chain hotel further out of town and Arriaga Suites the Suites win hands down every time. We were very well received by the friendly manager (we only met one member of staff) and she provided us with lots of information on what to see and do.

At night it was extremely quiet but that was possibly because we had a rear facing suite which looked out onto a dark courtyard so that's the one drawback of a rear suite - not much natural light. But if you're going to be out all day that won't be a problem. The street the suites look out onto (if you have a front facing one) is pedestrianized. There's a fridge and a microwave oven. All the bedding is comfortable and good quality and the staff can provide cutlery and crockery if you would like to eat in. All in all this is a very good find and I would stay here again if I went back to Bilbao.

Room Tip: Rear suites have no people passing by on the pedestrianised street below but they lack natural light...

My wife and I stayed in the Emilio Arrieta suite for a long weekend at the beginning of May. Initially we were a tad worried as there was a significant amount of building work being done as you go in the main entrance - however, this did not affect us at all and it was a testament to just how well the apartments are looked after as they were spotless even with the work going on outside. The works didn't affect us at all.

The suite was lovely - very modern, with a spacious bathroom and a nice sitting area. The bedroom with the french doors overlooking the pedestrianised pavement was lovely. Whilst its a busy area, the noise is minimal - the glazing in the room is fantastic! It is genuinely one of the best located apartments we've ever stayed in. The surrounding area is a rabbit warren of bars and restaurants that really come to life yet you wouldn't know they were around you during the day. There must be at least 50 bars in a 5 minute radius.

From making our original booking, Oihana was a fantastic person to deal with and a special mention to Itziar who was a wonderful host and couldn't help us enough - gave us so much valuable information. Thank you.

Bilbao itself is very walkable and we found it to be a lovely city. Whilst it doesn't have as many 'things to do' as the bigger cities, it was a very nice, relaxed environment with very friendly people. Will definitely return and definitely stay at the Arriaga suites again. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We chose a room at the front so we could have a balcony overlooking the street.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Arriaga Suites for 2 nights in January this year and couldn't have been happier with our choice - which we discovered through Trip Advisor! It was unbelievably good value and we would definitely recommend to everyone.
We stayed in a Suite J.M. Usandizaga which was enormous with a quirky musical theme. The rooms are well supplied with a maid service every day and free wifi. We asked for a quiet room, as we were slightly concerned about noise with its central location. No need to worry we were very comfortable with no noise.
The suites are actually in a charming old residental building right in the heart of Bilbao's old town. We had a great time wandering around into the tapas bars that line the nearby streets and loved walking along the river which is located just over the road. Heads up - it rains all the time in January so be prepared!
Had some confusion upon our arrival - we did not know that we were supposed to call Oihana to get in and didn't have her number or any internet on our phones! Luckily a resident of the building was able to speak English and helped us get inside where a number to call is displayed. Oihana was very lovely and accomodating. I understand that she wouldn't want to display her phone number outside the building but maybe it would be best if there were some instructions in the confirmation email.

My girlfriend and I wanted somewhere to stay for a mini-break to Bilbao that was clean, well located and completely unobtrusive - the Arriaga suites ticked every box.
You are met at the Suites by Oihana or in our case Patricia, and are well directed to everything you need. The rooms are spacious, modern and very comfortable. The beds are very comfortable with memory foam mattresses and pillows. The rooms are bright during the day but kept dark enough at night for a good night's sleep. There is a fridge and a microwave - the only thing missing really was a kettle for a cup of tea in the morning, not quite the same when made in the microwave.
The bathroom is also clean with towels and a hairdryer if need be.There is also wi-fi which is almost a must these days.
Everything in Bilbao is within walking distance with a number of fantastic bars and restaurants nearby. We also took a trip on the metro up to Getxo for a day by the beach which, if the weather is good, is well worth doing.
The Arriaga Suites are a fantastic location and we would definitely stay there again.

In the middle of the old town, you are just steps away from restaurants and shops. Bilbao is a highly walkable city, the Guggenheim is just 15 mins walk along the river bank. And the the beautiful Arriaga Theatre is just steps from the hotel.

The hotel is located near the entrance of Bidebarrieta, few doors away from Women's Secret. It is a big white door with number 3 on top. The rooms are clean and everything works well.

The hotel is no frills, you pay the balance when you check in and just grab a map and you are good to go. And when you check out, just leave the keys in the room.
