“Great Location to explore Bilbao”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Located 50m in front of the Guggenheim the Miro was an ideal location for 2 nights recently spent in Bilbao with my family. Check in was quick and smooth, Danielle at reception was very helpful in arranging a typical Basque restaurant for the evening and some nice walks and attractions for the next day.The hotel has no parking and 2 days will cost you in the region of 25 Euro's at the public car park just across the road. Excellent buffet breakfast ! Rooms ( we didn't have a view) are ample and pleasant.

In case you fancy the modern city-side of Bilbao, Miro is THE place to be!

The rather small and friendly hotel is located at a surprisingly quiet street very close to the river with it's modern bridges. The better rooms of Miro have wonderful Guggenheim museum view which is only a very short stroll away. The hotel is not having a restaurant, but being in the city centre this is not an issue at all. Close to the hotel there are some wonderful places for having French or traditional kitchen, recommended by the friendly staff who is also helpful to make a table reservation.

The cosy and modern hotel bar is having a free self service non-alcoholic drinks offer and Nespresso coffee facilities. Wine is available on request for a small amount of money. Free and stable Wifi at the bar and the rest of the hotel. The breakfast buffet served on the first floor is priced just under 20 Euro's and is great. If you prefer a small a la carte breakfast, go the place at Euskadi Plaza, only 2 minutes from the hotel and opened at 07:00 in the morning. The rooms of Miro are nice, especially the bathrooms.

The rooms have a safe, minibar, flatscreen TV, bathrobes and slippers and a nice brand soap and shampoo. The Airco works fine and the noise is rather quiet. There is even a CD/DVD player available, although we were not able during our stay to watch any movie at the television. There is also a dock for your Iphone / iPod with the older connection.

Not even meant negatively but just a suggestion for the hotel: being part of the Design Hotels chain, a nice designer classic floor lamp in the rooms and some small trendy design objects would make the hotel more up-to-date and a hit for the trendsetters.

Conclusion: Miro hotel is highly recommended ;-)

Room Tip: In case you choose Miro hotel for Guggenheim view, make sure this is explicitly mentioned in the roo...

We were so happy that we chose the Miro for our overnight stop in Bilbao, excellent location, right next to underground parking and a nice outlook, besides being close to the Guggenheim Museum.
We were upgraded to a junior suite with lots of light and very spacious. The breakfast was good too. Warm welcome and pleasant staff

Room Tip: We had a view overlooking the river - most pleasant - did not see a back room.

You could not find a more perfect location for your trip to Bilbao. It's is a 3 minute walk from the Miró to the Guggenheim. The tram is very close, too, so you can easily go to the old town which is very charming.

The Miró is modern, comfortable and immaculate. The staff is friendly and the young woman at the front desk was very personable and helpful. We enjoyed the complimentary coffee in the lobby which was a nice place to sit and people-watch.

Spring for a room with a view of the Guggenheim - it's well worth it. We took dozens of photos of the museum from our window as the light changed.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view!

We are certainly privileged to be in front of the Guggenheim Museum, close to the Old Town, and all points of interest.

Our free and exclusive courtesy bar is a definite plus, perfect as meeting point or for checking out the Museum´s catalogues after or before visiting the exhibits.

I stayed in the hotel for 4 days last month. The hotel is a 15-20min journey from Bilbao airport. The lobby has a lovely area to relax and also this is where you can get complimentary refreshments (not available in the actual room). The check-in was smooth and warm and we were given access to the room 2 hours early.

The room itself was spacious and although simple, it was stylish. The hotel is a member of Design Hotels. I was traveling with a friend so had twin beds but the room still felt large enough for us to have a little space. The bed was comfortable. The shower room was small but had everything you would need for a short stay. We never used the mini bar in the room.

Breakfast is served in a sunny room on a mezzanine level. It is a continental breakfast with a few hot items (eggs, sausages) and some local cuisine (pintox, spanish ham etc). A nice touch was the prosecco available for a little pick-me-up before noon.

The hotel is well located for visits to the Guggenheim and Fine Arts Museum (if you book through Design Hotels you receive a complimentary ticket per person!), and is a great base for exploring the city on foot especially if you follow the line of the river.

Overall I would recommend this hotel as it is simple and stylish, great location, warm service and good value for money.

I had been wanting to make a trip to the Guggenheim for awhile. When I saw the price of a room at the hotel (around 85/90 euros) I decided to splurge. It was well worth it. I had a room right across the street from the museum, a great view. The hotel has a number of free amenities, but truth be told you do have to pay for a few of them. Bathrobe, slippers, bathroom products etc. are all provided. Bed was super comfy. You also have the guest bar, for free soda, juice, tea and coffee. A large selection of DVDs was available for a small fee, and the use of their spa can also be reserved (but you do have to pay). Breakfast was ample, various newspapers available. The room was quite large and it had a very comfortable couch in the front of the window where you could take in all the splendor of the Gug. Bilbao is definitely worth a stop, and it is not too far a walk to the old town.
