“Modern & Convenient”
Reviewed 9 January 2014

This hotel is a fine modern hotel. Conveniently located near the Guggenheim. Both times I've stayed here were on business trips, once by myself and once with my wife who was traveling with me. Excellent restaurant overlooks part of the city. However, price can vary tremendously.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces a river to see the Guggenheim at night. Beautiful

Dear guest,

We are pleased to read that you have been here twice already and we hope this was not the last one as you enjoyed our hotel that much.

As far as the rates are concerned, we have no hesitation in recommending contacting directly with the hotel on your next visit or checking our website, where you might find interesting offers.

We look forward to seeing you for the third time.

Best regards,

We visited the hotel in September, 2013. It is wonderfully located immediately across the street from the Guggenheim gallery and easy walking distance to an extensive pathway system along the river, the old city, shopping, restaurants and a number of tourist attractions. There is a tramway or streetcar runs which nearby and makes access to a number of locations quite easy and inexpensive. The hotel is nice and generally clean although we thought that it was a bit expensive compared to other places that we stayed in Spain. The rooftop restaurant is a delight with wonderful views and nice ambience. We thought that the food was excellent with a good variety of fresh food choices and the main floor restaurant was open throughout the day and evening which was very useful on those occasions when other restaurants had not yet opened. The hotel staff were very helpful and responsive to our requests and, all in all, we had a very nice experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room facing the Guggenheim and the river whichprovided some wonderful views.

We stayed here in July over the same weekend as the BBK Live music festival.

The room was fine but nothing to write home about, there was a nasty smell in the corridor and the out of hours room service was a disaster, definitely not made by a chef.

Breakfast on the terrace is the jewel in the hotel's crown with amazing views and a really good selection. The location is great too.

We got a great deal at the hotel and our stay was amazing. The rooms are great and the beds were amazingly comfortable. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful - particularly with umbrellas which are needed with the endless rain! I would recommend booking breakfast at the hotel as the food is great and you can try everything whilst enjoying the view over the Guggenheim. The cafe food is lovely and the Splash bar has a great atmosphere. The only disappointing thing was the anti stress massage we booked which wasn't cheap so we had high hopes. Unfortunately the treatment room was extremely cold and both my friend and I complained but nothing changed. My friend had four towels over her to try to warm up whilst my hands and feet were like ice. Reception were understanding but said they couldn't take any money off the bill. This negative experience wouldn't stop me staying there again, but I wouldn't use the wellness suite.

I am almost reluctant to post because there are so many glowing tributes to this hotel so maybe I am the odd one out. However we were not impressed during a three day stay, and my comments should be seen in the light of their claim to be a five star hotel and one that charges accordingly.
The car parking is chaotic as you cannot book. Arriving on a wet and windy night to find the offloading layby permanently full we had to double park on a busy two way street. We queued 5 minutes at reception to ask if we could park in the garage only to be told go down the street.
Room suites were fine and as long as you face the Guggenheim you will be happy. A well stocked mini bar didn't have ice and was luke warm. Room service was fast in bringing ice when needed.
Restaurant on 7th floor has wonderful views but disappointing food despite their claim that the chef has seven Michelin stars (?). Short menu (shouldn't be a problem) but dishes presented with minimum decoration and distinct lack of anything like vegetables or salads available even as a side dish. Once again the common problem in many Spanish restaurants of over salting dishes. English menu full of mistakes and in some instances was impossible to interpret (anyone know what Haddock bubbles are?) Service was poor even though there were only two other diners. At the price I would expect more. Breakfast at 27€ is very over priced.
The cafe on the ground floor is better priced but limited.
In both restaurants the staff show lack of basic hygiene by handling cups and glasses where you are going to drink.
Sorry but this was not a five star experience.

Dear guest,

First of all, we would like to thank you for your feedback as this will help us to improve our service. We are sorry to hear that our restaurant, headed by a chef who just got his 7th Michelin star last week, did not match with your expectations. We have transferred your feelings to our restaurant team and they will take them into consideration for future guests.

As fas as parking is concerned, we do not use to have any problem with the space but we want to apologize if that was your particular case. Although it is not necessary to book, if a guest requires a parking place, we always take note and make our best to guarantee it if possible.

We hope these aspects did not blur the positive impression that the room with a view and the fast service made on you. We invite you to contact us directly on your next visit to Bilbao so that we can guarantee our best 5 star service that you did not enjoy on your first visit.

Best regards,

This hotel was a remarkable context from which to enjoy my pilgrimage to the Bilbao, Guggenheim. I loved the executive room on 5th floor with a direct view of the Museum.

The hotel is a fun space filled with the pop art of Marisial. All the art on every floor is the work of this one artist. This gave the hotel an aesthetic continuity. Even the library/business office was modern and colorful As you will notice, Marisial tends to risque themes beginning with the large rock filled sculpture in the atrium rising to all floors.

The service and the food were impeccable. The executive room with a view was just perfect. The breakfast buffet each morning on the top floor restaurant was wonderful.

Not a bad word to say.

Room Tip: Rooms with view and executive breakfast option were worth it.

We spent two nights at this hotel. Be sure to book a room with a view !! It is such a pleasure to have a look at the superb museum from your room.
Breakfast on the roof terrace, a bit expensive, but spectacular view !
The service was also very helpful and nice.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view otherwise I don't think it is worth it. Don't miss the roof terrace...
